He’s trying to push Lisa Nandy as to whether any man can self identify and compete in woman’s sports. He’s actually trying to talk some sense and saying it’s unfair to woman’s rights. Making really good points about trans rights overriding woman’s rights.
She will not give a straight answer to anything.

*Aligned with a crazy paranoid conspiracy theorist

LangClegsOpinionIsNoted · 10/03/2020 14:11

Absolutely agree the Express exaggerates, but that's good for the GC cause here. Clickbait gets clicks - that's a whole lot more people reading and, judging by the comments, also thinking 'wtaf?!'.

CharlieParley · 10/03/2020 14:12

“The idea that you want to pit one group of people against the other, I think this is not good enough. It does have a real impact on people.”

Yes, Lisa, it does. And while it is undoubtedly upsetting to hear one's own community's demands for a new privilege being enshrined in law as excessive and an infringement on the rights of others, the impact on women and children has gone beyond mere upset into breaches of our human rights.

Violations of our safety, our livelihoods, our freedom of thought, speech, association and assembly, loss of jobs and opportunities, scholarships, awards and programs designed to redress inequalities, loss of privacy and dignity, and last but not least the loss of female-only therapeutic environments where we can recover from male violence.

The injuries to women and the women so injured are too many to count already, but Lisa isn't thinking of us when she says "this has a real impact on people".

Women are people, too, Lisa. And we vote.

EwwSprouts · 10/03/2020 14:15

Maguire backs Nandy. Oops that did not go to plan then.

She's now posted clip on Twitter! Insight where are you?twitter.com/lisanandy/status/1237373848355569665

CharlieParley · 10/03/2020 14:15

^ to hear one's own community's demands for a new privilege being enshrined in law criticised as excessive and an infringement on the rights of others,

andyoldlabour · 10/03/2020 14:25

Nandy is getting hammered on twitter. Why on earth did she bother to tweet about it? Is she really that divorced from reality?
I can't see myself ever voting for Labour again.

Datun · 10/03/2020 14:30

Why on earth did she bother to tweet about it? Is she really that divorced from reality?

She's delusional. No one is agreeing with her.

Did she think that piers' supporters would agree with him and her supporters would agree with her? Because they're not. Surely this must give pause for thought.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/03/2020 14:32

I wonder, that too, andy. Are some of these people so isolated from anyone not in their bubble that they think everyone is onside other than the people they're throwing out of the party? Presumably they have relatives, don't they talk to them? Cause if my granny was still alive and I'd run the "rapists in women's prisons" argument past her she'd have told me I'd lost my mind.

StandWithYou · 10/03/2020 14:33

I think interviewers are getting better at not letting people conflate issues - so stopping Nandy from conflating intersex and trans was good. Stopped Nandy in her tracks.

Loved it when PM took his earpiece out and kept on trying to get LN to answer.

Justhadathought · 10/03/2020 14:33

Not once did she suggest that she wanted to protect women. Trans rights supersede women's rights every time.....and the whole TRA ideology makes that an imperative. TRA ideology has trans people as the most victimised, hence the most privileged in the intersectional hierarchy.

Lisa needs not to talk about her female constituents in domestic violence refuges ( her fall back " I care about women" stance), but about the girls and young women training with all of their energy and commitment to excel in their chosen sport - who then find their medals and their scholarships have been lost to male bodied people.

tobee · 10/03/2020 14:34

But this is how politicians use Twitter. They make a statement and act on those that agree with them. Sweep aside those that don't as "phobic" etc. Proving their point that they to fight all these beastly bigots even?

It's fucking lazy as well.

Justhadathought · 10/03/2020 14:40

She must have know what the questions were going to be? Surely she has some media help? Did she really think the Castor Semenya response was going to be a "gotya

She must surely also know therefore that much work has been done on this already - and the debate has been raging for quite some time with some very high profile successful female athletes involved.

Any 'commission' that the Labour party came up with at present wouldn't be worth the paper it was written on.

Next up........transitioning children; puberty blockers; radical hysterectomies before the age of 20......This is what transgenderism actually looks like in reality.

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 10/03/2020 14:41

I doubt she’s tweeting herself right now, it’ll just be a paid blue hair on her campaign team 😂

endofthelinefinally · 10/03/2020 14:51

She keeps going on about this trans child in her constituancy. I find that extremely worrying on so many levels. Especially when she is repeating the suicide myths.
She should be campaigning for mental health services.

Mockerswithnoknockers · 10/03/2020 14:57

And fell right into the elephant trap:

PM: Do you support Self-ID?
LM: Yes.
PM: So I can be a two-spirit penguin?
LM: Now you're being silly.

Dreamprincess · 10/03/2020 15:11

PM: So I can be a two-spirit penguin?

During some dire periods in my life, I would look at the ground and wish I was an ant - busy with my duties, unaware of heartache or sickness. Now, just as I have arrived at a peaceful phase and no longer wish to be an ant, a future Labour Leader supports self-ID. Life isn't fair is it Lisa?

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 10/03/2020 15:11

She must have know what the questions were going to be?

I very much doubt it, I think most Labour mp's are still under the delusion that this is only something a few people are against and no one is talking about.

AnotherNightWatering · 10/03/2020 15:28

In 20 years, when there's a documentary looking back at this, I reckon that interview will be centre stage. It was absolutely astounding.

Maybe she thought that as PM is detested by many (including me!), she would come across as someone caring and full of heart. How wrong she was. And what fabulous questioning from PM.

zanahoria · 10/03/2020 15:30

"Now you're being silly"

the obvious rerort is

"well you started it"

zanahoria · 10/03/2020 15:34

"she would come across as someone caring and full of heart."

Labour politicians often have this self image but I don't think they realise that voters just don't care and are more worried about policies.

Nobody voted for Boris believing he was a nice guy, they did as he promised Brexit.

YgritteSnow · 10/03/2020 15:36

Labour are looking to the next election in five years time, when all those little "twanz women are women!" tweens are able to vote. That's what this is about.

zanahoria · 10/03/2020 15:38

The twitter resonse sums her up, she is more worried about losing the moral high ground than losing the argument. Piers may be a bastard but he doesn't care as long as he gets his points in, he did that and and she couldn't answer them

Aesopfable · 10/03/2020 15:38

Nobody voted for Boris believing he was a nice guy, they did as he promised Brexit

I think a lot of people voted for him simply because he wasn’t Jeremy or Jo.

RevolutionofourTime · 10/03/2020 15:41

It has really come to something when we are reliant on Piers fucking Morgan to defend women's rights against a candidate for leadership of the Labour Party. The world has gone mad.

My thoughts exactly. We’re fucked.

zanahoria · 10/03/2020 15:48

She has posted that one her own twitter feed

That means she thinks she did OK and wants more people to see it

Not only is she clueless, she has not a clue about how clueless she is.
