Yes, Lisa, it does. And while it is undoubtedly upsetting to hear one's own community's demands for a new privilege being enshrined in law as excessive and an infringement on the rights of others, the impact on women and children has gone beyond mere upset into breaches of our human rights.
Violations of our safety, our livelihoods, our freedom of thought, speech, association and assembly, loss of jobs and opportunities, scholarships, awards and programs designed to redress inequalities, loss of privacy and dignity, and last but not least the loss of female-only therapeutic environments where we can recover from male violence.
The injuries to women and the women so injured are too many to count already, but Lisa isn't thinking of us when she says "this has a real impact on people".
