He’s trying to push Lisa Nandy as to whether any man can self identify and compete in woman’s sports. He’s actually trying to talk some sense and saying it’s unfair to woman’s rights. Making really good points about trans rights overriding woman’s rights.
She will not give a straight answer to anything.

I'm annoyed by Labour's position on this as they really don't seem to care about women's rights.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/03/2020 11:14

that it was not appropriate to discuss the subject on GMB because “you cannot answer trans issues in soundbites.”

Where does Dawn Butler want us to discuss it, then, given that she wants anyone associated with the groups set up to discuss it in a detailed, non soundbite-y way thrown out of the Labour Party?

Justhadathought · 10/03/2020 11:15

You don't need to be university educated to understand that allowing male athletes who identify as trans to compete against female athletes has the inescapable effect of pitting two groups of people against each other

Yes, all of the " rights are not a pie" nonsense - simply don't disguise the clear and inherent conflict that arises when you permit male bodies people into women's spaces, services and sports. Of course it is a conflict. the only way you can even suggests it isn't a conflict is by parroting the mantra TWAW.......and then you are on a sinking ship because your own logic falls apart at the slightest touch.

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 10/03/2020 11:18

She’s completely fucked.

Lisa Nandy is the new Nicola Murray:

teawamutu · 10/03/2020 11:20

Are there clips available yet?

Justhadathought · 10/03/2020 11:21

There is not a single rule that would mean it's fair for men to compete on women's sports so wtf was she on about

She's probably intimating about testosterone levels etc ...but in doing that she is acknowledging that male and female bodies are different, and have actual real life consequences.....and she's also opening herself up to a whole other, in some ways, quite distinct debate in which the likes of Martina Navratilova, Sharron Davies and Dame Kelly Holmes are involved......

This 'thing' is far bigger than she ever realised......

JessicaLangoustine · 10/03/2020 11:25

Who was the fellow on the sofa next to Nandy who seemed exasperated by her? He says "Come on, Lisa, boy or a girl"

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 10/03/2020 11:25

They usually put clips of each segment on YouTube within a couple of hours of the programme finishing.

Anticipating the cringe already!

SarahTancredi · 10/03/2020 11:26

Definitely no way out of this one is there just

The whole point of self ID is to avoid all the medical intervention that is required for proving you are living as a man or woman.

I hope her mum never has to be given intimate care in a home under her ideal regime Hmm

Justhadathought · 10/03/2020 11:30

I'm annoyed by Labour's position on this as they really don't seem to care about women's rights

They probably suggest they do.......but the problem for them is that the trans issue blights that........because there is an inherent conflict between upholding the spaces, services and sports designed to protect girls and women...and then suggesting that a woman is anyone who feels like one.........

A fundamental friggin' big stumbling block - which they have to avoid at all costs - but which will, nevertheless, keep on tripping them up when they are not careful and on message.

Datun · 10/03/2020 11:36

Just watched it all on Plus 1.

I'm now seeing Lisa as very manipulative.

Sprinkling her entire discourse with little ad hominems towards Piers Morgan in order to make his stance about defending women appear to have a hidden agenda.

And the desperate attempts to minimise what he is saying as straw men arguments. Despite him using specific examples in Connecticut and Australia.

And the really smug, fucking irritating, 'I'm a grown-up, and all you are doing is blowing this out of proportion, heating it up, and getting dramatic for no reason other than bigotry' bull shit.

How can anyone decide that there should be less heat over discussing an Ideology which advocates for putting rapists in with incarcerated women???

I believe Piers was spot-on when he said that she was frightened, or worried, about the reaction of transactivists.

They all are. Fucking spineless.

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 10/03/2020 11:53

Clip up!

eurochick · 10/03/2020 11:55

It has really come to something when we are reliant on Piers fucking Morgan to defend women's rights against a candidate for leadership of the Labour Party. The world has gone mad.

ForagingForFaerieGold · 10/03/2020 11:55
zanahoria · 10/03/2020 11:58

Labour just have their version of women's rights, which includes transwomen, they will huff and ouff self righteously about it but not accept any criticism. They have ticked the box, proven to themselves that they care and that is all there is to it.

Datun · 10/03/2020 12:02

According to the daily express, viewers have branded her performance as 'career ending'. So perhaps Piers has a little bit more handle on what the viewers think, then Nandy thought he had.

EwwSprouts · 10/03/2020 12:07

Comments are off for the clip which would have given a clear picture of audience response.

JessicaLangoustine · 10/03/2020 12:08

Disgusting Nandy trying to use an intersex person and disabled people as a deflection shield against a simple question.

PM is presenting Nandy with real life examples of trans women entering women's sport, and she just keeps calling them straw men.

PM is our puppet master, according to Nandy. He has set up the battle between women and transpeople, because he is a transphobic, and we clearly can't think for ourselves.

What an utter charlatan. I hope this kills Nandy's career.

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 10/03/2020 12:15

Nandy is an embarrassment.

Such obvious manipulation tactics - she made Piers look like the reasonable one.

To think she was once my first choice Confused

Datun · 10/03/2020 12:19

Disgusting Nandy trying to use an intersex person and disabled people as a deflection shield against a simple question.

Yes it's all beginning to look very manipulative. Deliberately leveraging other vulnerable minorities to shutdown discourse.

We see it here all the damn time.

The Script.

zanahoria · 10/03/2020 12:20

Piers is only asking simple questions. A decent interviewer would have followed through on Lisa's lets look at the rules fence sitting and ask why so was so sure that the rules merited the expluslion of LGBA and WPUK members.

teawamutu · 10/03/2020 12:20

She sounded quite tearful towards the end.

Datun · 10/03/2020 12:26

She sounded quite tearful towards the end.

I'm not surprised.

They are all being forced to be publicly accountable for something that destroys women's rights. And has to deny reality whilst doing it.

It would make anyone well up when they realise their career is in jeopardy on the back of it.

SarahTancredi · 10/03/2020 12:26

She sounded quite tearful towards the end

Probably cos she knows shes well and truly done it now.

No one can take her seriously, the men sat next to her, instead of giving her approval and thanks were just laughing at her.

I think there was definitely the moment of realisation shes basically been had and fallen hook line and sinker for the biggest load of bollocks ever.

zanahoria · 10/03/2020 12:28

One way to judge a political interview is to watch with the sound down, do not listen to words just read the faces.

Lisa looks very, very worried.
