Laura Whitmore show is dedicated to IWD. Can’t listen. It will ruin my day.

I'm still trying to comprehend how the BBC thinks that biological male cab speak on behalf of women on IWD. Are they going to have a woman on to speak on behalf of trans people on international transgender day?

TheVanguardSix · 08/03/2020 14:01

How did that one start out?
"Hey you went to an all-boys' secondary school and have, or at least have spent the majority of your life with, a dick in your pants. I choose YOU as the perfect IWD spokesperson."

Bergdorf, "Asking anti-trans 'feminists' (transphobic cis-women) what is best for trans women, when it comes to the Gender Recognition Act. Is like asking racist white people what rights black people should be granted & what spaces they should be allowed in. Why are you asking them?"

IPSO finding in favour of Janice Turner against Bergdorf's complaints:
"The newspaper did not accept a breach of the Code. It said it was not in dispute that the complainant had modelled for Playboy; the newspaper said that the number of engagements secured by the complainant was not at issue, the point the columnist was making in referring to “modelling for Playboy, fetish and lingerie shoots”, was that, in her opinion, anyone engaged in the kind of work suggested by that three-part description might not be an appropriate ambassador for a child protection charity. The newspaper provided a number of posts which the complainant had published on social media, which it said confirmed that she does “lingerie and fetish modelling.” The newspaper said that when a person devotes a significant amount of time to and presumably earns a significant income from posing for such photographs and sharing them on social media to promote a public image and personal "brand", it was not inaccurate to refer to this activity as the person's "day job"

Ha! "Be yourself" is such a con, isn't it? If I could go back and edit, I would. How about "present as you wish"? I was in a hurry I guess

koshkatt · 08/03/2020 14:12

Just watched an interview on Sky (under the banner 'Women's Day') with Caroline Paige who is a TW who was in the RAF. I am sure that Caroline is a brilliant role model for TW but are there no female RAF officers to interview?

It is truly bewildering as to who has hidden all of the women away...

LouHotel · 08/03/2020 14:13

Not starting its own Thread but linked to the tra platform on iwd.

Turned on sky news and the iwd coverage was an interview with the first transgender women in the RAF.....

It's there not one adult human female in the whole of the armed services who could be interviewed!!!

The issue is once you see the propaganda you can never un see it, I've chewed my mum and dad's ear off watching it.

LouHotel · 08/03/2020 14:14

@koshkatt but at least we have solidarity against it.

koshkatt · 08/03/2020 14:16

It was outrageous and depressing to see Lou. Especially when the female presenter said what an 'honour' it had been to interview Caroline - wonder if she would have said this to a woman officer?

datasgingercatspot · 08/03/2020 14:17

And this is why the BBC should be a subscription service.

R0wantrees · 08/03/2020 14:20

Its why the BBC bias to trans rights activists should be investigated:

koshkatt · 08/03/2020 14:26

And a quick look at Caroline's twitter shows them re-tweeting those who use the term TERF and are pro the no-platforming of women speakers.

Not the best role model for anyone really let alone women on IWD.
Hmm

BringbackLang · 08/03/2020 14:27

The thing is there is Trans Visibility day, there's trans day of remembrance, there's LGBT history month, there's six months of pride. Can't we have just one bloody day where women: adult human female is celebrated.

IWD is an absolute joke. It celebrates everyone but women.

bellinisurge · 08/03/2020 14:30

Good grief. I suppose actual women's concerns are too boring and unimportant for the radio. Back to the fucking 1950s.

LouHotel · 08/03/2020 14:30

@koshkatt at one point she mentions coming out to her family and my immediate thought these days is to think of the transwidow thread.

The real hidden women behind these stunning and brave stories.

(extract)
"Caroline [Paige] realised being a trailblazer and role model bore enormous responsibility; she had to succeed if she was going to prove her opponents wrong and to do that she would have to earn respect and be valued, not just as a member of the military but as someone who wasn't 'a liability on the front-line', in fact someone who was needed. In proving her own worth she also determined to help make the military a more inclusive environment for those following in her footsteps. She became an Equality and Diversity Adviser for the military in 2000, trained as a Mentor, became a member of the RAF LGBT Forum and Proud2Serve support groups, and participated as a key note speaker at several military conferences and training events throughout the UK. Her role as a trailblazer, positive role-model and champion of diversity in the UK Armed Forces earned her a Permanent-Under-Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Peoples Award in 2011.

Caroline quickly saw the benefit of her open and honest approach as attitudes became more positive and understanding grew into support. Trailblazing in the military as a trans woman provided many difficult challenges but the unconditional support and friendship of so many of her colleagues, including those from all three services who had never met or worked with her directly, was a major factor in making the UK military the permissive and inclusive workplace it became, for her, for transgender individuals following, for people with other diverse challenges, for anyone.

In 2014 Caroline advised the Palm Center, San Francisco State University, regarding a national commission offering implementation guidance seeking the inclusion of openly serving transgender personnel in the US military. Caroline was invited as a key panel member at a conference on 'Perspectives on Transgender Military Service From Around the Globe', held in Washington DC, co-sponsored by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Palm Center. She also co-authored an Op-ed with Petty Officer Landon Wilson for CNN, entitled 'Both Transgender, but Unequal Paths in Military Service' cnn.it/12ka78t; and was interviewed on BBC The World Radio bit.ly/126yshT. Caroline has enrolled with Stonewall on their School Role Models Programme where she contributes her story to support, educate and inspire people and to illustrate the positive values of respect, diversity and inclusion" (continues)

The BBC can fuck off. Why are we paying for this shit?

wibdib · 08/03/2020 15:08

Will be interesting to see how many transmen have or will be signed up for headlining performances/coverage/etc of International Man’s Day in November...

RuffleCrow · 08/03/2020 15:08

It's understandable. I mean the 3.5 billion of us are too busy - who else were they gonna hire?!

Thelnebriati · 08/03/2020 15:11

I was a bit busy doing laundry and shopping, to be fair. What about you?

teawamutu · 08/03/2020 15:49

Could we ditch this shit and start an International Adult Human Female Day?

TW want IWD, let em have it. They can rainbow and unicorn the feck out of it and we'll do something for women.

Wakaranaihito · 08/03/2020 15:59

@Newuser123123

Wasn't there a politician with binders full of women? Maybe they are all there?

FrogsFrogs · 08/03/2020 16:00

'All women are a fantasy, and transwomen are living their own fantasy'
OMFG

FUCK OFF

FrogsFrogs · 08/03/2020 16:04

Elderly women are a fantasy?
Women who are being sold for sex are a fantasy?
Women dying in childbirth or of disease are a fantasy?
Women watching their children die as infants as clean water is scarce is a fantasy?
Women being raped in war is a fantasy?

For men, I'm sure all of the above could be fetishised, as a sex they seem to have a baffling and unending taste for weird turn ons.

Nevertheless. Woman women are not a fantasy. We are real actual people.

Shows up the thinking grotesquely doesn't it, that statement.

Dreamprincess · 08/03/2020 16:16

What the hell has Bergdorf ever done or achieved in their life to be appointed the official spokesperson for women?

Come on everyone - have you not seen the environmental protestors bearing their breasts on Waterloo Bridge today? Munroe's breasts are larger, perkier and positioned slightly off centre to those women. Surely she has to be a role model for the rest of us ordinary women who have had children, have small breasts etc. etc.

Men do women so much better, don't you know.
