Well, not branded as story hour, but the drag queen is reading a story to primary school children... Brought in by an MP (Mhairi Black)

“Thank you to Flow and @MhairiBlack for sharing their experiences with us today. It was really important to hear about Section 28 and the negative effect it had. Thankfully now we teach #LGBTEducation proudly at @Glencoats_PS #LGBTQProud @LGBTYS @LGBTHistoryScot

Jeez this is my local authority, although she’s not my MP. I hope this rubbish isn’t rolled out across all schools

littlbrowndog · 24/02/2020 12:48

Jeez when I was at primary school I didn’t even know what a drag queen was. Ffs

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/02/2020 12:48

@IrmaFayLear since people like this became role models:

STILLT · 24/02/2020 12:51

This is from Mermaids website in their case studies of trans kids who are taking the Starbucks challenge.

Doesnt look like a child though does it - a child dressed like an adult dressed as a 'child'.

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/02/2020 13:09

There was a local drag queen performer calling themselves after the murdered child "beauty queen" JonBenet Ramsay, dressing themselves up to look like that and also very ill/deathly. And boasting about how they deliberately made themselves look ill, and a young cheerleader.

Many pointed out how sick it was.

rogdmum · 24/02/2020 13:11

I am getting quite worried about the calibre of female politicians we hear from these days. Is there an action plan to make female politicians look stupid and say dumb things? There definitely seems to be a higher % of female MPs spouting this guff than males.

Lordfrontpaw

I’m genuinely getting quite frightened. Hannah Bardell (SNP MP) has retweeted Mhairi Black’s tweet and I’ve seen a few female counsellors tweet in support if the school.

Politicians are enthralled by LGBT Youth Scotland. Their guidance to schools is currently being rewritten by the Scottish Govt following safeguarding complaints, but the old guidance has not been withdrawn and it appears to be the same groups involved in the new version. LGBT Youth Scotland at first said the Scottish Govt endorsed their guidance and only removed this from the booklet following a threat of court. 16 councils do endorse the guidance as well as other organisations and the Children’s Commissioner Scotland (I wrote to him to complain and got a non response: twitter.com/rodgmum/status/1226795210656636930?s=21 )

The whole organisation needs investigated - they have a cavalier disregard for children’s safeguarding, but they are fully supported by Nicola Sturgeon and company.

Thank god its not just me. I'm beginning to wonder if it's just a misogynists plan to discredit the 'wee wimmin'. Its embarrassing.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 24/02/2020 13:34

You can't make such sweeping, unfounded statements about the general public being homophobes and buying their kids adult-rated video games. I hope she is made to apologise for that, how dare she.

Yes her comments are so breathtakingly bigoted themselves, just assuming that parents let their kids do whatever and allow them to be exposed to adult video games when many parents, probably the vast vast majority, absolutely do not. So ill informed, no evidence just breathtaking bias. Shows utter utter contempt for the parents of those children whose faces have been put out amid x-rated content without the parents' consent.

She shouldn't be an MP making assumptions like that, and she shouldn't be around children either if she thinks that because some adults may expose their kids to X-rated stuff it's ok for her to bring it into schools, and encourage / defend a sexualised drag queen posting photos of children amid X-rated content on their social media. Saying someone else might do a wrong thing isn't a great argument for doing a wrong thing yourself - especially when you're an MP and the wrong thing you did is very public and very harmful to multiple children and their families and breaches so many safeguarding rules it's almost unbelievable.

Lordfrontpaw · 24/02/2020 13:36

Does she have kids? Or is she too busy?

DidoLamenting · 24/02/2020 13:39

Not a Wings fan at all

Nor me, but credit where it's due and I'm glad he has got involved.

youllhavehadyourtea · 24/02/2020 13:44

Wings has been gender critical for ages.

His Wingsoverscotland twitter account was permanntly suspended last year after he was targeted.

littlbrowndog · 24/02/2020 13:45

Wings was banned of twitter for supporting women

He can see this stuff for what it is. Some sort of infecting bonkerniss

It was Mhairi black who called women Jeremy hunts. Or cunts. In her video

youllhavehadyourtea · 24/02/2020 13:47

LBD 👍

CallofDoodee · 24/02/2020 13:54

Am agog at the way Mhairi Black is doubling down on this - how fucking dare she? She is a fucking MP. What is happening?!

Owen Jones wading in as well now.

ItsAllInMe · 24/02/2020 13:57

I saved this screenshot a month or so ago when I was doing some digging about LGBTYS as my kid’s secondary school is celebrating having ‘earned’ their LGBT Charter. I nearly did a post on here saying ‘how irresponsible for a primary school head teacher to go touting on Twitter for any old LGBT person to come and visit their school for LGBT history month’ The person who retweeted this (who’s identity I’ve hidden but who I found via the LGBTYS Twitter) obviously thought Michelle Visage might pop along to sunny Renfrewshire Grin. They didn’t get Michelle but they got our ‘Flowjob’. Oh and that beardy guy from River City obviously answered the plea too. Jeez what was the Head Teacher thinking? Absolutely nuts.

The original Tweet can no longer be seen as Michelle Watson has locked down her feed. I’m all for inclusivity - let’s get gay parents into schools and gay sports people etc. proper role models but at what point did ‘Flowjob’ ever seem a good idea?? I wonder what her staff think? I hate the way objecting to this massive blunder instantly renders you a homophobe allegedly. Can’t we get any clear thinking on this please?

OvaHere · 24/02/2020 13:59

When my kids were in primary (only a few years back) parents had to provide written consent for their children to watch any films above a U rating.

Now apparently schools bring in highly sexual drag acts who post pictures of their children on their insta amongst their porny pics and parents aren't even informed.

ItsAllInMe · 24/02/2020 14:00

Having probs attaching thie screen shot grrrrrr.

Languishingfemale · 24/02/2020 14:01

Is one of the common factors that many of the proponents of this are not parents and have limited understanding of how children can be targeted by adults seeking to groom them?

Languishingfemale · 24/02/2020 14:04

It's great that Owen Jones is re tweeting this - it needs as much sunlight as possible (cue for the labour leadership contenders to propose that every school has a resident porn soaked drag queen) .

MoltenLasagne · 24/02/2020 14:04

Just from the bare bones of safeguarding - surely parents signing a consent form are doing so for school website etc, not for social media and particularly not for the social media of an apparently unvetted and highly questionable guest to the school. Why on earth were these photos ever taken, never mind shared on completely inappropriate Instagrams? I wasn't even allowed my phone on my person when I helped out in a local school due to safeguarding!

scotsheather · 24/02/2020 14:10

I also wonder if everyone coming to speak was bound by the usual pvg and reference or at least proper discussion beforehand, sounds like they weren't. A uni lgbt group/gay wrestler etc. sound innocuous but I doubt they got through pvgs for all of them in the short space of time. I thought these were mandatory to set foot in a school for ANY reasson.

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/02/2020 14:11

Yes Molten, it would be for the school SM.

Of course, once an image is out there anyone can use it. Which is why perhaps some of use might begin to reconsider permissions.

Any visitor to schools who wants to use images in their own work must provide their own permissions.

zanahoria · 24/02/2020 14:11

her immaturity is stunning, she cannot hold a simple argument, instead she plays the martyr and calls anyone who disagrees a bigot.

no wonder OJ backs her, it is right out of his playbook

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/02/2020 14:11

OJ is RT this?!
