rogdmum · 23/02/2020 09:22

Well, not branded as story hour, but the drag queen is reading a story to primary school children... Brought in by an MP (Mhairi Black)

“Thank you to Flow and @MhairiBlack for sharing their experiences with us today. It was really important to hear about Section 28 and the negative effect it had. Thankfully now we teach #LGBTEducation proudly at @Glencoats_PS #LGBTQProud @LGBTYS @LGBTHistoryScot

Even Mhairi Black herself - I didn't see a single person object to her going into the school...

Lordfrontpaw · 26/02/2020 08:09

I quite like Ruth. I think she’d be fun for the kids to have a visit from. Their actual visitor doesn’t seem very child friendly.

Lordfrontpaw · 26/02/2020 08:12

And the Scottish Parliament is trying to bribe women (yes the news report did use the W word) with ‘free’ sanpro. Call me cynical...

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 26/02/2020 08:12

My dad, lifelong anti Tory, loves Ruth. Surely "is gay and head of Scottish political party" would be a more inspiring lesson for the kids than "is gay and posts pics of self fellating a dildo on social media while talking about drug habit".

NeurotrashWarrior · 26/02/2020 08:22

Do we know what book was read?

LizzieSiddal · 26/02/2020 08:23

It’s so worrying that we have Headteachers, MPs, NCPCC, to name a few, who don’t understand about safeguarding. Here we are having to shout at them, in order for some of them to get it.

Also can’t Mahiri meet with someone and have it explained to her, very clearly that no one is anti trans/gay/.

hoodathunkit · 26/02/2020 08:28

I am incredibly pushed for time as am working on a piece demonstrating the links between professionals who give credence to conspiracy theories about satanic ritual abuse and who also promote the more extreme ends of the transgender movement.

Scotland is interesting to me as, like the South West of England and Canada, there is significant kool aid consumption and promoting of pseudoscience and conspiracy theories.

If the spread of dangerous pseudoscience can be likened to the spread of a virus (and I think that is one helpful way of looking at the situation) then Scotland is a territory in which pseudoscience is at epidemic levels.

I just wanted to share a name, this person is one of many,

Professor Rudi Dallos

an author on this paper, just reading the abstract left me feeling gaslighted and angry

abstract

The gender roles and identity of siblings have been found to be an important factor in the nature and quality of sibling relationships. With an increasing number of young people identifying as gender-diverse or transgender, this research aimed to develop a greater understanding of how young people make sense of their siblings’ gender diversity. Semi-structured interviews explored the experiences of eight sibling participants (aged 11–25 years) who have a sibling identifying as gender-diverse. Five overarching themes emerged from the thematic analysis of their transcribed interviews. These themes encapsulated commonalities and nuances within the sibling participants’ experiences and revealed a process of adjustment. Developing an increased understanding of transgender issues appeared to enable young people to embrace supportive roles, and as a consequence, they reported that their relationships with their gender-diverse siblings were enhanced. However, the sibling participants’ increased understanding of transgender issues also generated significant fears and concerns about their siblings’ well-being and their sibling relationships. From understanding more about these eight young people’s experiences, suggestions are given for how specialist services might best support siblings of gender-diverse young people along their processes of adjustment.

Dallos is a speaker / trainer with a charity called Children in Scotland
Prof Rudi Dallos
Rudi is Professor and Research Director on the Clinical Psychology training programme at the University of Plymouth. He has practised as a family therapist for more than 30 years and is currently engaged in a major research programme to evaluate a systemic/attachment-based therapy (SAFE) for families with a child with a diagnosis of autism.

Prof Dallos has published several books including, An Introduction to Family Therapy (2000), Attachment Narrative Therapy (2006), Systemic Therapy and Attachment Narratives (2009) and Attachment and Family Therapy (2014).

Dallos is also involved with various SRA promoters who also promote attachment theory at the Bowlby Centre, a one time reputable organisation whose credence has been compromised by repeatedly hosting bizarre events about satanic ritual abuse and dissociative identity disorder.

Dallos co-edited/authored a book that depicts the Cleveland abuse scandal, in which completely innocent parents were accused of satanic ritual abuse and had their children taken away and interrogated by deranged and deluded social workers, in a highly unusual way.

Apologies for posting in haste, there are so many horrible connections here, just sharing a little snippet for anyone with similar interests to my own

Oh my! The Krankies have only waded in on the debate...

Mockersisrightasusual · 26/02/2020 09:34

Wee Jimmy Krankie for First Minister

(oh, hang on....)

SapatSea · 26/02/2020 09:47

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-51617457

The council is investigating following "concerns" raised

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 26/02/2020 09:55

The Krankies! And speaking more sense than some MPs. I'm kind of ready for this weird Twilight Zone episode we seem to be stuck in to end soon.

jadefinch · 26/02/2020 09:56

What is so amazing about the number of SNP politicians and their supporters tweeting defence of Mhairi Black, despite

  • The artist was called Flowjob and the children will ask why they have that name
  • The artist's social media profile is entirely sex, violence and drugs, and children will find that
  • The artist took pictures of the children and uploaded them to his social media accounts, leading to sexualised comments about the children from his followers
  • The school recently employed a paedophile to work at it
  • The council admitted that it didn't do a proper background check on the artist and has apologised
  • LGBT Youth Scotland organised the event and its former CEO is a convicted child rapist

is that it's been less than a month since the revelations about SNP finance minister Derek Mackay grooming a schoolboy and sending him hundreds of inappropriate text messages. And its last leader is appearing in court shortly, defending sexual allegations.

There is something very wrong with this party.

BringbackLang · 26/02/2020 09:57

The last paragraph was very telling IMHO.

No reflection, just a money making opportunity.

littlbrowndog · 26/02/2020 09:59

Yeah

After the report yesterday about political parties having not a scooby about safeguarding

It’s time SNP took a long hard look at their safeguarding

Sweetpotatoaddict · 26/02/2020 10:05

Interestingly the sun refers to flowjob as Mr Mullen however earlier in the month flowjob on twitter stated they were now identifying as female.

I feel sorry for flowjob who seems to be a rather vulnerable member of society, with suggestions on twitter of being unemployed, and having addiction issues. All put on a very, very public stage due to a head teacher and a member of Parliament.

Lordfrontpaw · 26/02/2020 10:12

The Krankies calling 'bad taste'. So the rumours about their private activities weren't true?

Imnobody4 · 26/02/2020 10:18

Sweetpotatoaddict Yes I'm starting to be a bit worried about Flow. He's young and seems vulnerable although behaving unpleasantly. It's the so called adults particularly the Head and MPs who should be held to account.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 26/02/2020 10:25

People did this with Madigan too, and Challenor, made all sorts of excuses and wanted everyone to see them as vulnerable. Mhairi Black is about the same age and I notice that nobody is suggesting she's too vulnerable to be held to account for her poor decisions or social media strops.

I would gently suggest that unpicking that socialized tendency to fuss over young men and make excuses for their bad behavior is something that any woman interested in feminism should be doing. Also be aware of the pressure being put on other women to go along with the removal of responsibility and expectation of care that happens when situations like this are framed that way.

bellinisurge · 26/02/2020 10:26

Also worried about Flow. They need better advice. Not as much as I am worried about the kids being subjected to this nonsense by Black's gobshitery.

fascinated · 26/02/2020 10:30

Lord — Is that not a bit unfair? They weren’t in schools and certainly not parading it in public . Even if it is true.

fascinated · 26/02/2020 10:31

MB is an MP, Flow isn’t.

But yes, agree about the fuss about vulnerable young men. And the danger of being expected to be their ‚mum‘....

Lordfrontpaw · 26/02/2020 10:32

How old is flow? They act like a high school kid - and are obviously so desperate to perform.

@fascinated - I know but they still give me the willies! And it was a bit in public wasn't it?

fascinated · 26/02/2020 10:33

It’s the teachers I’m most annoyed about. Ignoring rules on checks because they are blinded by wokery and dazzled by the likes of Black. Unprofessional.

fascinated · 26/02/2020 10:34

I don’t know tbh, I thought it was just rumour. Never liked the abuse directed at Janine, too. Seemed misogynistic. But who knows, I suppose if they’d had social media back then maybe....? !
