Well, not branded as story hour, but the drag queen is reading a story to primary school children... Brought in by an MP (Mhairi Black)

“Thank you to Flow and @MhairiBlack for sharing their experiences with us today. It was really important to hear about Section 28 and the negative effect it had. Thankfully now we teach #LGBTEducation proudly at @Glencoats_PS #LGBTQProud @LGBTYS @LGBTHistoryScot

Frankie Boyle is a weasel. He wants to wade in and get into the public eye but is too feart’ to take on the transmafia.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 24/02/2020 17:19

I think you're right, Lordfrontpaw. Boyle only picks on those weaker than himself.

SauceForTheGander · 24/02/2020 17:21

Daily Mail article here - irony that the really explicit images haven't even been included in the piece

SauceForTheGander · 24/02/2020 17:22

yes - Frankie is a bully.

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/02/2020 17:25

All these years dismissing the red tops.

I never thought I'd pay attention to these papers.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 24/02/2020 17:27

Me neither, NeuroTrash. I'm a lot less snobbish these days.

For all the people successfully pretending this is about a nice, kind transwoman educating kids, I suggest checking the pictures on the Sun or the Star. Or on flowjobqueen's various social media accounts, they are not hard to find. A simple google search will pull them up. Just as well kids don't have access to the internet these days, eh?!

nauticant · 24/02/2020 17:30

What started out as something good has become tedious and forced.

This was the point at which I started to see "celebrating LGBTQ+" as an instruction to be problematic. To me, things went wrong when "normalising" overshot into "celebrating" (and there was a sudden piling-in of what the "things" might be).

Newuser123123 · 24/02/2020 17:32

@NeurotrashWarrior I remember the first thing we were taught in A level politics was to read the tabloids - it's important to know what most of the country is reading!

Lordfrontpaw · 24/02/2020 17:37

A parent (well someone says go she is) says that just about every week there is some LGBT activity or another. Why is the Head so obsessed with this? And why is she allowed to just get in with it? The school twitter account is almost all lgbt obsessed.

Lordfrontpaw · 24/02/2020 17:37

Newuser123123 - us too! And political cartoons!

ScrimshawTheSecond · 24/02/2020 17:44

The school concerned has previously been in the news.

Rainuntilseptember · 24/02/2020 17:44

The headteacher says "...what it was like growing up during Section 28 when it was illegal for school staff to talk about anything LGBT.”
I was a teacher then, I taught about gay people not the same as now possibly, more against prejudice against gay people, no cops came knocking on my classroom door!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 24/02/2020 17:45

I am so fed up of this shit.

No I don’t want a drag queen reading to my kids. I just don’t because it’s an entertainment form that’s for adults. And by that I include young adults.

Drag queens aren’t for primary kids. They just aren’t.

Lordfrontpaw · 24/02/2020 17:46

So how come I knew all about lesbians in 1974? There really were gay people before 2003 - and we knew it.

I suspect many of the ‘ooooo this is the same as Section 28’ weren’t there and couldn’t explain what it was.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 24/02/2020 17:46

Anyone who claims they can't see the difference between Justin Fletcher (or someone like him) dressing up as Aunt Polly (man in a dress which is appropriate for young children) and Flowjob or any other drag queen is - in my opinion - lying. For whatever reason, I don't care. Maybe they want to erode the boundaries of children, maybe they just want publicity. I don't care, they're harming children.

No one would be complaining if Aunt Polly had been to the school.

It's an entirely different thing.

But even so - what is the possible rationale for claiming that a man dressing up as a sex stereotype of a woman challenging said stereotype? It's not. A normal man who does a normal job coming in wearing a dress- that would be challenging sex (or if you must gender) stereotypes. Pretending to be a woman in an offensive way is not.

Tombakersscarf · 24/02/2020 17:51

Mind you we've not checked Justin Fletcher's twitter feed, he might have a dark side!

Absolutepowercorrupts · 24/02/2020 17:52

@littlbrowndog
Thanks for that info on how to link, you're a star.
I've seen the apology and Black is still ranting about homophobes

SauceForTheGander · 24/02/2020 17:57

If they are so concerned about teaching children about Section 28 why not get invite a gay or lesbian MP in - Joanne Cherry seems pretty great. Or someone who actually taught in a school in that period.

And did this drag queen just read to the kids or give them a history lesson - because apparently he's only 21 (I thought he was about 40 tbh) so not exactly lived experience of section 28 and the woke crowd are all about lived experience taking priority.

Lordfrontpaw · 24/02/2020 17:57

Those condoning it seem to be young/immature and/or childless.

Renfrewshire Council has said it 'would not have invited the artist had it been aware of sexually explicit images shared on the performer’s social media profiles.'

Let's remember that when the headteacher tweeted about this she was unable to tag the school visitor in the tweet, because doing so would have taken you from the school twitter directly to a highly sexually explicit twitter page. If your school visitor can't be tagged on your school twitter page for that reason, they are not a suitable school visitor.

It's. Not. Fucking. Rocket. Science.

Owen and chums always invoke the homophobia of the 80s etc as a a way of shutting down discussion. Well do they remember what else happened during that time? Oh yes, children were sexually abused left right and fucking centre because of shitty safeguarding and no one wanting to upset anyone. So if you want to bang on about history etc, have a think about that too.

SunsetBeetch · 24/02/2020 18:04

So the drag queen... isn't actually a drag queen...

Section 28 was wrong but perhaps there should be some sort of law preventing schools from inviting drag performers etc.

Tbh if these people are really so opposed to Section 28, why are they acting in such a way as to encourage the general public to demand the return, if not of Section 28, then some sort of law to limit what schoolchildren can be exposed to?
