My feelings about men

BoxyLoxy · 24/01/2020 20:01

Name changed, obviously.

Im a regular on here although mostly lurking.

I was wondering how other people reconcile their feelings about how fucking awful the patriarchy is, how men as a group are basically toxic and even the 'good ones' have an incredibly low bar for being decent humans.

Im married, and seriously reconsidering it because I feel this ongoing utter despair at the myriad injustices I put up with. I would NEVER EVER pursue a relationship with a man if I did leave.

Anyone else feel the same? Is this normal?!

They determine gender with Google Analytics which had been benchmarked against traditional methods of data collection and shown to be similarly accurate. It looks at things like your channel subscriptions, browser searches, websites visited etc, which everybody who uses Google had agreed to be tracked on.

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 31/01/2020 21:39

While we are not allowed to troll hunt here, no matter the provocations, it is my understanding that women on FWR are still allowed to tell WATM whiners and mansplainers to eff off.

I know the thread has moved on a bit but I'm just catching up now.
Did you happen to read my response to the post about women viewing porn?

"a survey by Cosmopolitan magazine found that 3.8 percent of women who watch porn use it daily, 25 percent use porn every few days, and 71.2 percent don’t use porn that often. For men those numbers were 32.5 percent, 56.5 percent, and 11 percent, respectively."

No option there for don't watch at all? Strange.
Maybe those figures are included in the 71.2%? Or maybe because it's asking about porn only the women who watch porn took part in the survey? *
Key word there is women who watch porn
Also it is a survey from cosmopolitan and has been used in men'sjournal.

Oncrwaslangandclegtwo · 31/01/2020 23:45

Apologies,
I meant the keyword is women but it's a cosmopolitan survey so woman doesn't mean AHF.
But what do I know, I'm just an AHF.

So stereotypes? A woman googles dress for instance?

UrbanJellyfish · 01/02/2020 01:18

So stereotypes? A woman googles dress for instance.

Well, ultimately I guess so.

But I do think you could probably get an accurate picture of a user base's sex from their browsing habits.

A Google user named 'Sarah' who mainly subscribes to women's fashion channels and visits feminism sites is likely to be female. A user named 'Dave' who subscribes to MMA channels and The Lad Bible, and makes searches like 'Arsenal vs Tottenham score' is probably male. Trans people don't make up a big enough portion of the population to significantly skew this, and when tested against other methods GA had apparently been shown to be pretty accurate.

They do seem to make up a significant portion of social media though.
What do you think of my response to Jurgens post about women watching porn?

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 01/02/2020 02:06

If you read the Stonewall UK definition of who is under the trans umbrella I think you will find that it is the majority of the population.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 01/02/2020 03:15

What do you think of my response to Jurgens post about women watching porn?

Do the statistics indicate whether women are watching porn on their own account, or watching it with men?

Because while I’ve known any number of men who would dial up some porn for solitary recreation, I’ve yet to meet a woman who did. Anecdotal, I realise, however, given what seems increasing pornification of sex, it’s not a reach to consider that women might accept watching of porn itself as normal. If choking is not seen as aberrant, then looking at porn probably has much greater acceptance.

kesstrel · 01/02/2020 07:38
  1. But given what we know about the attitudes of tech companies toward trans issues, - it is reasonably likely that their Analytics data might be adjusted to count transwomen and quite possibly non-'out' autogynephiles as of the female 'gender'.

  2. Trans people don't make up a big enough portion of the population to significantly skew this, But "the population"- by which I assume you mean all adults - is not the statistically relevant population group here, as my first post pointed out. The relevant population group is that segment of the population that views hard-core porn (on Pornhub) - as my previous post points out. And for some reason that figure seems to be difficult to obtain/is not mentioned amongst the slew of statistics published by Pornhub.

  3. Why would that figure be difficult to obtain? Could it be in the interest of outfits like Pornhub to normalise very hard-core porn-viewing by making it appear that "everyone" is doing it? Certainly, judging by the framing of their statistics presentation pages, that would appear to be their aim.

The thing about fantasies is that the fantasizer is in total control of everything that happens. That is why women say they prefer to read about erotic relationships rather than viewing the rape torture and abuse of women in porn.

The available stats on this seem to support the idea.

The statistics reflect the opposite of what you are claiming, or extrapolating, or assuming, or speculating. I can't quite get the through line on your comment.

BlindYeoSees · 03/02/2020 23:37

What percentage of women watch what porn is a total red herring. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Men: stop fuelling the abuse of women in porn by YOUR use of it. Don't go to strip clubs or prostitutes either. See? A really simple way of helping very vulnerable women.

Or don't. Be fuck all help by pretending these industries are mainly driven by female demand Grin and that your porn use makes zero difference to anything so you can carry on stroking your dick to what you want. Yay. Result.

Really proving the poor OP's point.

If you any of you have daughters I hope you'll be fine with men anally fucking them as standard and cumming all over them and choking them and stuff which they will obvously really enjoy because that's what we women like. Good old men giving us what they know we really want.

Designing all that violent porn especially for us too! Even though they personally would far rather make and watch porn in which we are lovingly and gently pleasured. What selfless lambs.

Of all the sex I've witnessed people having with my eyes, porn and Hollywood have filmed that sex with THOUSANDS of rapey and rape-centered scenes and a very few happy, consensual sex scenes. Almost all movies cut away from happy couple sex scenes, the movies that leave them in and get real close in with the camera are almost entirely rape scenes when they're not outright pay-per-rape prostitution.

Who gives a flying fig what women watch while it is men committing 99% of sexual assaults?

Truly, tell me why it matters what women watch when it is men who rape?

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 04/02/2020 03:59

Confirming earlier studies on the prevalence of rape fantasies, 62 percent of participants admitted fantasizing at least one of the eight scenarios:

Is that 62% of the 30% of adult women who watch porn, 18%, or is it 62% of people who took the surveys?

Oops, never mind. I see it is bogus.

Drop the sanctimony, it's the especial opprobrium you have for women porn watchers when men porn watchers are 99% the doers of raping that I'm talking about and you know it.
