I know there is a split of opinion about spoiling ballots vs voting for the least bad option.

If you do decide to spoil your ballot it feel free to post a photo of it here (be careful not to include any information that identifies you and in particular not to include the ballot's unique identification number) in case any of our loitering journalists wish to pick up the story or in the hope of giving the parties/candidates some pause for thought.

In case it is of interest (and you want a place to post your views for/against spoiling ballots), there have been a number of threads about spoiling ballots, a few links below:

Done. Could not vote for any of the fuckers. Either hiding in fridges to avoid the questions, or willing to say "hell yes" to self ID.

PurpleHoodie · 12/12/2019 09:43

Haven't RTWFT but what if....two million women spoiled their papers?

I'm off to vote now.

motorcyclenumptiness · 12/12/2019 09:52

Slightly OT but today, polling day, I have laryngitis. There's a dark humour in the fact that on the day I have no political voice, I actually have no voice.

LangCleg · 12/12/2019 09:53

Ballot spoiled. "Men cannot become women". By far and away my best choice given the FPTP system and the seat I'm in.

Couldn't give a toss what anyone else thinks about that.

BeardedVulture · 12/12/2019 10:01

Ballot spoiled as well. "NO TO SELF-ID" written on it with a 'women don't have penises' sticker.

We live in a Lab/Con marginal and my DDad have me a load of shit about 'giving a vote to the Tories' but he and every other man who can't figure out why this is a line in the sand for me can Get. Tae. Fuck.

SarahTancredi · 12/12/2019 10:02

Done here too.

Woman is not a feeling

We all know what's going to happen now we least they know we showed up

WhatTheFrock · 12/12/2019 10:04

I have wrestled with my conscience and have also decided to spoil my vote for the first time ever. This goes against all my principles about voting, however I live in wokeville, so a vote for a 'remain' party would be taken as support for SelfID. I cannot live with myself if I were to support a party that wants to dismantle safeguarding through SelfID.

Loving the use of purple and green pens by the way. I'm off to find some felt tips.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 12/12/2019 10:05

Excuse me? Buzz off because I have an opinion different to yours? I will not.

Is that to me? It's difficult to know because that's not what I said but then I can't see anyone else saying it either.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 12/12/2019 10:24

I'm voting later after work. I wish, wish, wish I could find the strength to spoil my ballot paper and I salute all of you who have/are. For me, this time, my husband is my priority driving my vote. I know that's selfish, self-interest and short sighted and I know I may well live to regret it, but he is literally dying by inches in front of me as a direct result of Tory cuts to both the NHS and the disability benefits he was able to use to mitigate the worst of those cuts until they were more than halved, after he was treated like a performing seal at the dehumanising, insulting farce that is a PIP assessment. I'm literally in tears knowing I have to choose between my husband and the rights of women, and some of those tears are fucking anger at the shambolic political ideologies we're facing, and resentment at the fucking idiotic politicians who have are selling us all down the river in an attempt to service metaphorical ladydick, for putting me in the position where I have to choose. I have never, ever felt so politically disenfranchised and despairing.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 12/12/2019 10:29

Flowers Sad

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 10:30

@OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg I completely understand. You must do what is right for you. Could voting for your candidate then writing to them to say that although you voted for them this doesn't mean that you endorse all the party's policies and not to take it as a given that you support the party on self ID, erasure of women's right and shall be watching them closely in fixture with regards to this matter?

WhatTheFrock · 12/12/2019 10:31

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg you should do what you feel you need to do.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband. Flowers

GiloulovesLaure · 12/12/2019 10:34

No time to reread TFT- on way to vote. If I clearly mark preferred candidate and put No next to others with a GC message? Will vote count? Intention would be clear? TIA

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 10:34

Sorry posted too quickly! Confused It's an idea at least Thanks

OhHolyJesus · 12/12/2019 10:34

Upside down but I hope you can see another spoilt ballot to add to the pile.

AllMumsyWereTheBorrowedClothes · 12/12/2019 10:35

Heading out with my 'little stickers' - how did it come to this? I've always voted. I'm the daughter of a woman born before any British woman even had a vote, but I cannot support this legalised misogyny.

averylongtimeago · 12/12/2019 10:39

I know how angry we all are about this- but please don't spoil your ballot paper, this election is too important. All votes will help keep Johnson and his extreme right wing Tory party out of power.

Unless you were going to vote Tory....

smemorata · 12/12/2019 10:39

If you want to protest then do it but don't spoil your vote. It's just a waste. Far better to vote and then lobby your MP.

LoonyLunaLoo · 12/12/2019 10:41

I don’t really get spoiling your vote due to trans issues. I mean I get that it’s an issue but are you really prepared to sail the NHS down the river for it? I think that’s a much more important issue for women especially as we arguably have more healthcare needs than men due to gynaecological health, child birth, breast health, menopause etc.

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 10:41

@GiloulovesLaure I think if you have a clear mark in one box only and leave the others empty that count as a vote. However if you put a cross or write no in each candidates box and right none then that is a spoilt vote.

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 10:43

I don't tell you who to vote for l, don't tell me how I should vote. There is a big long thread on why many of us are spoiling our votes. I suggest you read it before coming on to tell us what you think we should do.

tava63 · 12/12/2019 10:45

Well I look forward to most of you proving me wrong and seeing tomorrow lots of headlines on the impact of your action. In the meantime I've taken my alleged internalised misogyny and platitudes (thank you for that LangCleg PJsatMidday) to the constituency next door to mine to campaign for someone who has taken a leading role in their party on this matter, and so many other issues that I support, and I am distributing leaflets and later calling out from a megaphone, to encourage people to VOTE for this person. For those of you still wondering what to do, some people I know have 'held their nose' and voted for someone in a Party they wouldn't normally vote for, they have followed this up with an email to that candidate explaining the basis for their vote - candidates and MPs are generally good at replying …… you likely won't get a response to your spoilt vote (but as I said at the start maybe I'll be proved wrong).

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 12/12/2019 10:46

TiredofthisBS I wrote to my candidate beforehand to ask her position on the rights of women and girls and setting out my grave concerns about self-ID and the impact that has on WaG. She personally seems to get it but obviously the real test will be after the election, if she is re-elected.

Thanks for your support, you lovely vipers you.

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 10:48

Good for you @tava63 that's your choice. Now please respect mine.
