I know there is a split of opinion about spoiling ballots vs voting for the least bad option.

If you do decide to spoil your ballot it feel free to post a photo of it here (be careful not to include any information that identifies you and in particular not to include the ballot's unique identification number) in case any of our loitering journalists wish to pick up the story or in the hope of giving the parties/candidates some pause for thought.

Hope boo hoo, we are just big meany nastys aren’t we. No one swore at you, saying people can fuck off if they want to moan at us for our vote is not swearing at you. Nobody will hand you tissues here. The thread says it’s for people spoiling votes. No one has encouraged anyone to spoil, no one has berated others for not spoiling, and we have all welcomed anyone genuinely discussing why they aren’t or being open about how they are on the fence. We just don’t gaf about those trying to manipulate us by appealing to our female socialisation to be nice and please others and put everyone else above our own self interests. Which is really not surprising in a feminist chat board. Go gas light some where else, go start your own thread or join a hundred other ones that are about who you are voting for. Do so out with feminist chat and you have a decent chance some will fall for your manipulation.

And really, people can swear all they fucking like in posts, it’s not censored here because we are not babies. Swearing in posts isn’t swearing at you unless it’s clearly directed towards you, mostly it’s just spewing out frustration. I’m sure you are actually capable of deciphering the difference but if not just to help you out, me saying fuckety fucking fucknut is just swearing, not swearing at you, so no need to cry that the meany nasty women won’t bend over backwards to hold your hand.

It was your tone, and your suggestions that people were being " idiots" and so on......it was provocative. Obviously you have not frequented threads on this board before. You saw on pop up somewhere about the election - and jumped in. Easy to do. But also easy to come in far too heavy handed and without awareness of context.

It's only funny when you are totally unaware of the context and background to the thread. This board has been discussing the election for many weeks; organising actions; organising campaigns; and so on.....

Its possible that you believe you will never be in prison or a psychiatric ward, or a DV shelter, so don't think they or the women that need them matter as much as far more important, more 'properly political' things.

This has been the best ballot for me. After living here for over 25 years, I have finally used my ballot paper for something that I agree with

Yes tired it is classic DARVO. And thank you for making me think of Jennifer Freyd because she is a fucking exceptional woman who stood up and spoke out against the masses.

For anyone who doesn’t know Jennifer is the daughter of some of the people who came up with false memory syndrome (who also have known links to NAMBLA). Her father was abusing her and her parents along with other pedophile parents formed false memory syndrome society and petitioned for it to be accepted to the dsm despite big fat zero studies that backed it. Thankfully science won out and they were thrown out of every psychological and psychiatric association world wide and false memory syndrome has continuously been refused entry to the dsm and icd. But it did catch on socially, was even featured in the likes of law and order as if it were real, and it’s still used to silence women today. Jennifer went off to study psychology and actually found prove of how children do forget trauma and remember later, she found the neural pathways that let us do this. Her book betrayal trauma theory is well worth reading. There are a lot of parallels around the rise trans ideology and the rise of false memory syndrome so it’s nice you mention DARVO, as it’s Jennifer Freyd who came up with that and was campaigning to raise awareness of it decades before me too and times up became the in thing.

If I came onto a thread with the user name of "Get Brexit Done", and started hectoring and insulting people about spoiling their ballot, for whom do you think I would be advocating? The greater good of society? You are clearly advocating for Labour.

I've asked this question several times, but I will ask it again. Given the choice of voting Tory or spoiling my ballot, what would you rather I do?

There are many and individual reasons for spoiling.....

However, what you, perhaps, were not aware of was the centrality of this board to the gender critical movement. You'd be quite amazed at who looks in and contributes here. It is one of the only places to meet and discuss - because speech and discussion is, literally, forbidden elsewhere .Including in all of our political parties. It is profoundly undemocratic.

Just got back from spoiling my ballot.

I opted for a long diagonal line through all the boxes and wrote:

NONE

NO SELF ID

Then an AHF sticker, and underneath:

WOMEN MATTER

I also note that none of the people that have turned up to scold us disappointing women for not voting from our menu of misogynistic candidates in order to stop people from dying are on the thread where a woman is trying to get her son to vote. There, it's all "it's a democracy", "he's entitled to do what he likes with his vote", "you have no right to tell him what to do". I wonder why?

It's quite simple - if there were a "none of the above" box, spoilers would check that.

As there isn't, they have to improvise.

I think some people navigate here thinking it is like twitter, or similar - just random comments without proper understanding of wider context.

Longer than that Bernard, I’ve spoiled ballots several time due to self ID. I have done previously for other reasons, but I’ve sent several postal ballot back over this and I’m pretty sure I read about spoiling with the penis stickers first here (possibles Twitter though).
