Spoilt votes - post them here so that the parties/papers can see them

I know there is a split of opinion about spoiling ballots vs voting for the least bad option.

If you do decide to spoil your ballot it feel free to post a photo of it here (be careful not to include any information that identifies you and in particular not to include the ballot's unique identification number) in case any of our loitering journalists wish to pick up the story or in the hope of giving the parties/candidates some pause for thought.

In case it is of interest (and you want a place to post your views for/against spoiling ballots), there have been a number of threads about spoiling ballots, a few links below:

If you don't turn out to vote at all then you're counted with the apathetic. Spoiling a ballot paper is a legitimate form of political protest and can all the scolders and thread monitors and headteacher types who don't like it JUST FUCK RIGHT OFF.

HandsOffMyRights · 12/12/2019 17:08

And PULLLL!

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 12/12/2019 17:08

Seriously, every time one of those cats-bum-mouth-lemon-suckers posts, I get closer to thinking "ahh fuck it, I'm going to spoil my paper after all".

MsMcWibble · 12/12/2019 17:10

Hopeforthemany Why on earth should we stay at home and not vote rather than take part in a perfectly valid protest.
I haven't seen anyone saying that they've sworn on their ballot.
I don't think being prissy has ever helped women though.

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 17:10

Just who do you think the suffragettes were? They fought for the right for women to vote. That means me having a choice whether I wish to vote or not. Spoilt ballots are a legitimate form of protest. It only seems to be one party telling coming on here to insult us. Guess what? Tough you had your chance, your party blew it.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 12/12/2019 17:11

Oh please, rule of misogyny number 3 again.

Women are grown ups, we're the ones dealing with the fallout when the safeguarding around children is removed. We're out there doing the best for our kids, and in this case that may mean spoiling our ballot.

The absolute sneering RAGE that women won't shut up and do as they're told is really not that appealing.

Spoiling your vote is saying very clearly that you are not voting for any party not out of apathy or lack of engagement (you've made your way to a voting booth) but because none of the candidates on offer represents you - in this case none of the candidates supports women's rights. It sends a very clear message - I am engaged, I want to vote, I feel I cannot in good conscience vote for any candidate. The number of people I've been talking to who've said they're considering spoiling their ballot is staggering in this election (and not all for the same reason).

Is Penis a swear word?

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 12/12/2019 17:11

I suspect none of this will help a jot. Hmm

Alltheprettyseahorses · 12/12/2019 17:11

not saying you have to vote but if you don’t like any then don’t vote

Bollocks to this. Go and make your voice heard.

WhereYouLeftIt · 12/12/2019 17:12

The deed is done.

For the first time ever I have spoiled a ballot paper Sad.

I shouldn't have had to, but all of the parties are clinging to the fiction that men can be women and that's perfectly fine so just STFU actual 'old-style' women. None of them are dealing in actual REALITY. If they can do this over something so straightforward as binary sex, who knows what else they'll redefine to suit?

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 17:12

You're calling us idiots for exercising our democratic right? Really? You're not going to win women round by insulting them now are you. Something tells me that people are worried.

Mystraightenersarebroken · 12/12/2019 17:12

Spoiling your ballot is not the same as not voting and people aren't 'helping out' they've applied for the role and are being paid.

Hopeforthemany · 12/12/2019 17:13

Legitimate form of protest 🤣🤣🤣it’s the cowards way out. You are writing something on a anonymous piece of paper and wasting people’s time. Please you have all had enough time to do something more constructive than scribble on paper.

Telling people to “fuck right off” for having a opinion is disgusting.

Justhadathought · 12/12/2019 17:13

If you can be bothered to make your way to a polling station surely you can be bothered to research each party and make a decision like a grown up

Not sure what makes you think that people haven't done the research. I can assure they have. I have. Lots of time and energy spent on considering this. Also not so sure why you are so personally offended or bothered? We must each vote within our own conscience.

MsMcWibble · 12/12/2019 17:13

Nice of the school prefects to keep this thread bumped though.

GCAcademic · 12/12/2019 17:13

If you don't turn out to vote at all then you're counted with the apathetic

Exactly. I am not apathetic. I'm extremely politically engaged and furious. And it's frankly laughable that I'm being lectured with silly little slogans about the suffragettes by people who have never engaged with this issue on here before.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/12/2019 17:14

Oh god, still.

Meercatsarecats · 12/12/2019 17:15

Ah hopeful it was just someone asking for a new sheet then
woman asked over to the other side, have you had any spoilt ones yet?
Man replied, just one
Woman, was it a mark in the wrong box then? (Or something like this)
Man, well I should imagine so yes.
Made me think they were counting as they went along, silly of me, obviously I was paranoid as they were talking about spoilt papers as I was spoiling mine with a big pre written sticker.
I know one of the women counting from church so that didn't help.

Justhadathought · 12/12/2019 17:15

Who are all of thee people appearing on this thread to insult people for following their own conscience and enacting their democratic voice in whatever way they see fit? Peculiar! Especially on a women's rights board.

Also people seem oblivious to the many other reasons for wanting to spoil. Heads in sand.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/12/2019 17:15

I wonder if they all had their say completing the GRA Reform consultation?

MsMcWibble · 12/12/2019 17:16

Hopeforthemany - cowards way out? I informed the waiting representatives what I have done on the way out. They didn't seem surprised.
You may not be aware that women are attacked in real life for wanting their sex-based rights, so I don't blame people for being anonymous.
Why on earth do you think you get to tell women what to do?
If you don't like it, don't do it.

Snoopypants · 12/12/2019 17:17

I’m de-lurking to post that I’ve spoilt my ballot paper today. I’m a left-leaning remainer who wishes to protect women’s rights- this was the only option for me :-(
I had to explain this to a poor unsuspecting labour canvasser at my door this morning. At least she seemed to understand... shame the party leaders can’t.

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 17:18

Now you are calling us cowards. Aww bless your heart. I guess you haven't read How to make friends and influence people then?

Hopeforthemany · 12/12/2019 17:18

@Alltheprettyseahorses make your voices heard to who?? They don’t read them, they won’t come out and say x amount of votes were spoiled by women for x reason. If they did I would agree with spoiling papers. They just say x were spoiled and move on.

All I’m saying is if you don’t agree with something then actively do something. Don’t leave it to the last day then scribble on a piece of paper and expect anything to change 🤷‍♀️ common sense really
