Now granted, I've not fully fleshed this idea out, but in the light of @theflushedzebra pointing out that trans activists never seem to stop giving each other awards, we should have our own virtual FWR awards for services to feminism in 2019.

As the founder of this ceremony, I expect designers will be queuing up to allow me to "wear" them.

Post your nominations below, and feel free to describe how fabulous you look at the ceremony!

My nomination for best British female solo artist goes to : Maya Forstarter for grace and clarity under considerable pressure.

Brilliant thread! My first thought was you tinsel actually!

The freedom programme for supporting women and knowing exactly what a woman is in the charities (?) section.

GNC Ben

and Benjamin Boyce in the men's category.

Girl Guides deserve the pointy finger award for betrayal of girls.

We should all chant,
"The betrayal of girls is YOU"

Or in Spanish, courtesy of Google translate
"La traición de las chicas eres tú"

KeithPartridge · 06/12/2019 17:52

I've been telling everyone at work about the GirlGuides. When this blows up in a scandal and it will, they're toast.

rednsparkley · 06/12/2019 17:56

This thread is amazing 😍 I'd like to add DrSpouse and Helen Watts for taking on the Girl Guiding Association and its batshittery

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/12/2019 17:59

The Girl Guides is the hardest one because I really don't care if any given business shuts down as a result of their own misogynistic stupidity but the little girls that love being in the Guides don't deserve to lose it just because the people currently running it are idiots, so in their case we need a plan that saves the organization while mostly purging its current management.

AnyFucker · 06/12/2019 18:06

This thread is bringing me to actual tears

Everyone that has gone before

Plus I third a gone but not forgotten award for Dittany Barracker and ^Posie*

AnyFucker · 06/12/2019 18:07

Posie

KeithPartridge · 06/12/2019 18:10

And you AnyFucker. You have been banging the drum for feminism for years. Especially for women in abusive relationships without ever referring to feminism.

AnyFucker · 06/12/2019 18:12

That's very kind of you Keith but I don't hold a candle to some of these feminist giants.

KeithPartridge · 06/12/2019 18:23

Well, I think there are probably a few free women out there tonight who would definitely beg to differ. 💐

theflushedzebra · 06/12/2019 18:23

ALL the feminists banned from Mumsnet after the introduction of the special rules. ALL win an honorary award. Star

theflushedzebra · 06/12/2019 18:26

( AnyFucker - you get an extra award for the most thorough lambasting of a man I have ever seen on Mumsnet. Larry. All those years ago. Please tell me you haven't forgotten that?)

I note whenever Larry joins a thread about trans issues, he is less than supportive of women. Surprise!

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/12/2019 18:30

I nominate The Bewilderness (banned for being too honest) for her wonderfully clarity providing rules.

AnyFucker · 06/12/2019 18:31

Larry hates women.

AnyFucker · 06/12/2019 18:34

Sarah Phillimore does sterling work in child protection too

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/12/2019 18:35

Oh yes a special Award for anyfucker And bewilderness.

Have we said PeachYoghurt yet?

I assume Jean Hatchet has been mentioned; extra kudos for this tweet:

So many lost...Bewilderness, Orchid, LastGirl, Posie, Spont, and many, many more. All gone for telling the truth. 😖

OvaHere · 06/12/2019 18:47

Just adding special mentions for the black GC women and intersex GC women of Twitter (sorry rubbish at remembering handles). Both groups get singled out for a lot of crap but yet they persevere.

Oooooooooooooooooooh · 06/12/2019 19:00

The Leeds Spinners and Cllr Sarah Field for the banners, her speech and getting WPUK into Leeds Civic Hall.

ChattyLion · 06/12/2019 19:44

So many awesome women on here.

I miss Bewilderness. The Rules are so true and thanks to her I find them so much clearer to see.

Coyoacan · 06/12/2019 21:02

How could anyone choose between all you brilliant people?

Sonia Poulton and Lisa Muggeridge for their videos

Jean Hachett for finding out who is funding the LibDems today,

I still think Posie Parker should be given the Turner Prize.

FoodofBeetles who gave us the scientific data.

And everyone on this FWR page who have educated us and introduced us to many sources of information.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 06/12/2019 21:15

I know she's been mentioned already, but Nic Williams, for her absolute laser like focus during the GRA consultation. she got me campaigning and i am really fucking lazy

I reckon we owe a bit part of the 'hang on a minute' that many people are experiencing now to her

LangCleg · 06/12/2019 22:20

Helen Steel. Let's not forget Helen. The most stalwart woman in Britain.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/12/2019 22:32

Can we add the women of the SNP who've been standing up to the absolute steamroller that's being aimed at Scotland? It's easier to push this stuff through in a smaller country and their backbone is very much needed.

Angryresister · 06/12/2019 22:38

Dare I mention I am Spartacus??
