Now granted, I've not fully fleshed this idea out, but in the light of @theflushedzebra pointing out that trans activists never seem to stop giving each other awards, we should have our own virtual FWR awards for services to feminism in 2019.

As the founder of this ceremony, I expect designers will be queuing up to allow me to "wear" them.

Post your nominations below, and feel free to describe how fabulous you look at the ceremony!

My nomination for best British female solo artist goes to : Maya Forstarter for grace and clarity under considerable pressure.

Oh yes. Sarah Fields

Destinysdaughter · 05/12/2019 21:36

So many brilliant people on here! Think we have to include Piers Morgan for some of his sterling interviews on Breakfast TV?

( sorry)

Fallingirl · 05/12/2019 21:39

We already have enough for several years’ worth of award ceremonies.
We should have a ceremony every year on 8/3.

Gail Dines for tireless work against porn.

GurlwiththeCurl · 05/12/2019 21:39

What a great thread. I applaud all those nominated and everyone on here who has contributed to this fight back. As someone who mostly lurks I am in awe of you.

If we do have the awards ceremony at Centre Parks, can someone bring babysitters? So we don't all have to go early to put the DCs to bed (like the tweeters at Maya's tribunal who all had to go early to catch school pickup)?

TinselAngel · 05/12/2019 21:55

It's OK they have DBS checked babysitters at Center Parcs.

Would we get pissed and then all jump in the swimming pool in our ball gowns?

Destinysdaughter · 05/12/2019 21:58

Can we crowdfund to make this happen? I've often thought how great it would be to do something like this, so glad it's taken off and was a great group of people we have in this fight! So proud to be have come across them all.

BadgertheBodger · 05/12/2019 22:20

I’m definitely not bringing my darling offspring to this, it sounds like it would be epic and I would be much too drunk hungover the next day to parent in any meaningful way.

What a bloody brilliant list of absolute sheroes. So inspiring to read them all in one place!

Could the men’s award be called The Nigel perhaps?

TinselAngel · 05/12/2019 22:21

Yes! And we would have a special snug for the Nigels outside the main hall.

DestinyDaughter - Yes! As long as we don't handle it like Linda Riley does.

V V murky.

Can we have a Maggie Kuhn ("Stand before the people you fear and speak your mind - even if your voice shakes.") award in recognition of all the ordinary women who've spoken from the floor at events and told their stories, the ordinary women asking questions of MPs, schools, employers and in hustings, and all the women raising feminist issues among their friends and family.
The defiant woman award!

Creepster · 05/12/2019 22:33

It would be good to add an awards night to an annual Feminist gathering.

LangCleg · 05/12/2019 22:44

Helen Watts for Services to Ungrateful and Useless Youth Organisations.

YellaHumberElla · 05/12/2019 22:51

DJ Lippy on the decks for dancing afterwards.
Featuring guest set by Zuby?

Joisanofthedales · 05/12/2019 22:53

For me the following women are inspirational.
Magdalene Bern
Posie Parker
Sammy Woodhouse
Louise Moody
Lucy Masoud

And in the mens section Miranda Yardley, Harry, Glinner and Jonnie Best

BadgertheBodger · 05/12/2019 22:56

The Polished Cock award for dedication to the decimation of women’s rights goes to...

Ruuuuuth Hunt and Stonewall!

theflushedzebra · 05/12/2019 23:05

Polished Cock Award Grin Grin Wine

Ruth Hunt and Stonewall are worthy recipients.

KettlePolly · 05/12/2019 23:08

Can we just give Magdalen all the awards? How we miss her and her absolute resilience and intellectual rigour xxx

KettlePolly · 05/12/2019 23:11

Not the polished cock award though, obv. I don't think she would have liked that. Grin

MrsFogi · 05/12/2019 23:13

If Yaniv does not turn up to collect the award can we wheel a giant, ice scrotum (hairs etched on it of course) onto the stage and leave it to melt during the rest of the ceremony?

KettlePolly · 05/12/2019 23:16

Yaniv will have tweeted that he won all the awards, regardless of whether he was there or not!

littlbrowndog · 05/12/2019 23:29

We have forgotten the absolute sterling work of several of our own finest unwilling Sherpas.

Dr Haddock
Lily
LOJ
Thingy from Mermaids.

They have done some epic work!
