Now granted, I've not fully fleshed this idea out, but in the light of @theflushedzebra pointing out that trans activists never seem to stop giving each other awards, we should have our own virtual FWR awards for services to feminism in 2019.

As the founder of this ceremony, I expect designers will be queuing up to allow me to "wear" them.

Post your nominations below, and feel free to describe how fabulous you look at the ceremony!

My nomination for best British female solo artist goes to : Maya Forstarter for grace and clarity under considerable pressure.

The Leeds Spinners for Best Protest Banners!

“Wrong Side of History My Arse”

Such beautiful sentiments, so expertly crafted.

PerspicaciaTick · 05/12/2019 18:58

James Kirkup and Janice Turner for their journalism when nobody else was talking.

ZIGGY7 · 05/12/2019 19:09

All of the above, and Maria MacLachlan for taking one for the team from a vile XY, and for going to court.

YellaHumberElla · 05/12/2019 19:14

Can Man Friday be nominated as a group in the Swimwear section?

And as the inventor of the patented Wanklet, I will offer up a hand crafted Wanklet, complete with integral pig, as a prize for the appropriate (?!) category!

theflushedzebra · 05/12/2019 19:15

Love it! Wine

Great thread @TinselAngel Grin I shall be wearing my glitteriest outfit, and clapping wildly for all the fantastic women already nominated.

My own nomination is for the category Women in Art:

PL Henderson, curator of @WomensArt1 - targeted by TRAs calling themselves "Terfs Out of Art" - for not featuring "enough" trans people.

I second Maria Mac!

Stuffofawesome · 05/12/2019 19:22

Don't forget Sandy draws badly in the art category

theflushedzebra · 05/12/2019 19:28

Stuff - omg yes - Sandy Draws Badly must have a nomination - I suggest a split category: Art and Animation.

I also think there should e a "Sticker Hellraising" Category - although I'm torn between the Women Don't Have Penises stickers on Anthony Gormley's statues on the beach, and the simpler, but oh-so-brazen one on the Stonewall building sign Grin

VortexofBloggery · 05/12/2019 19:29

Dr Lisa Littman for her work on ROGD.

TinselAngel · 05/12/2019 19:29

God, can you imagine the piss up we'd have?

Morning Star for best Newspaper consistency in (GC) class analysis.

TheChampagneGalop · 05/12/2019 19:45

This thread makes me happy Glitterball

Gingerkittykat · 05/12/2019 19:46

I'm sorry but the flower on page 2 looks far too much like a fleshlight for my liking.

I'm voting Yaniv for recruitment to the GC cause.

On a more serious not the women who held a memorial for Lilias Addie, a victim of the Scottish witch trials and are doing a lot of great work to bring the witch trials to people's attention and honour the victims.

mcduffy · 05/12/2019 19:47

Brilliant thread.
Feels like a power up button 💪

YellaHumberElla · 05/12/2019 19:53

Would we have a corporate sponsor for the event?
Who has been standing firm -Birdseye? Centre Parcs, The Spectator, The Economist.

Which venues have hosted WPUK events that could host the ceremony? And wasn’t there a pub that put themselves out there for GC feminists to gather when one woke bar had thrown them out?

Badley Fuckitt Gin Bar for the after party.

ThighThighOfthigh · 05/12/2019 19:53

A special award to whichever of the thighs it was who named us all the RFFs - the Real Fanny Fighters
