Now granted, I've not fully fleshed this idea out, but in the light of @theflushedzebra pointing out that trans activists never seem to stop giving each other awards, we should have our own virtual FWR awards for services to feminism in 2019.

As the founder of this ceremony, I expect designers will be queuing up to allow me to "wear" them.

Post your nominations below, and feel free to describe how fabulous you look at the ceremony!

My nomination for best British female solo artist goes to : Maya Forstarter for grace and clarity under considerable pressure.

Oh alright Lang, that can be the award, but I insist on a bouquet of hairy vulvas for every winner too.

What a fabulously uplifting thread

I'd like to add the WPUK crew - the big meeting in London was my first experience of a feminist meeting of any kind and it was amazing

Also Kathleen Stock, Rebecca Reilly-Cooper, Holly Lawford-Smith, and Sarah Ditum for producing so much brilliant writing that has quite literally helped me find a voice when it came to speaking up with friends

Angryresister · 05/12/2019 17:13

there should be one for funniest /wittiest/laugh out loud comment on mumsnet. The poster who put up “ pigs in wanklets” comes to mind but there are many others.

Stuffofawesome · 05/12/2019 17:30

Support all nominations so far
I nominate Stickerwoman (didn't notice her sorry if I missed it)

Stuffofawesome · 05/12/2019 17:33

These by Jessdewahls would look nice in bronze for a prize

Perfect!

CaveMum · 05/12/2019 17:37

I came on to suggest the fabulous Dr Hilton but see I’ve been beaten to it!

MRKHVoice, sadly missed on Twitter, deserves a nomination too.

Glinner, for being such an ally

Uncompromisingwoman · 05/12/2019 17:56

Lovely inspiring thread.
Rosa Freedman for her courage in the face of awful abuse at her university
Michael Biggs - for his sterling work in uncovering the awful reality of the unethical use and impact of puberty blockers on children
Katie Alcock - currently taking on the girl guides for their lapses in safeguarding.

OhHolyJesus · 05/12/2019 17:57

We need an organisation award for sure

LGB Alliance
Safe Schools Alliance
Detransitioners Advocacy Network

And the unofficial ones like Tinsel and the Trans Widows

And a Media coverage award
Janice Turner / The Times
The spectator
And what did they call the ones for worst? BBC and The Guardian could get the reverse ferret award.

I think we're going to have to make this happen somehow.

Cuntysnark · 05/12/2019 18:01

Ooh another! Tatania McGrath. And Lily Maynard.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/12/2019 18:03

Best drama award to Hannah McGill for Waves - short but perfectly formed.

On behalf of the Thigh's (at least until the Thisters storm in with their own speechez) I'd like to thank Tonsil, our fanz, our haterz, Perverted, the mighty Thigh, our Emperor and god n baby cheezus etc for our nomination.

Can we wear crusty slankets to the awards ceremony?

Is it paid in cash?

WombleishMerryChristmasOfThigh · 05/12/2019 18:21

Aw, thank you for thinking of us, Tonsil. You know we ❤️ you, too Thanks

LangCleg · 05/12/2019 18:23

Can we change the Thigh award title to the Crusty Slanket Award?

MrsSnippyPants · 05/12/2019 18:25

Whenever I feel I can do no more, this will be the thread I come back to.
Thank you OP Flowers

GoulashSoup · 05/12/2019 18:32

Another vote for Jess De Wahls artworks for the awards, the one @Stuffofawesome suggests or this one (big swinging ovaries).

HandsOffMyRights · 05/12/2019 18:40

Brilliant thread thank you!

Agree to all of the above. Not sure if Transgender Trend has an award yet, but Stephanie & co absolutely deserve one, alongside Fairplay, WPUK and Safer Schools Alliance.

Sharron and Martina.

The Bindel, obvs!

I know we've mentioned Janice, Sonia, James and Andrew
Can I add Sanchez Manning, Lucy Bannerman, Julia Hartley-Brewer and Lynsey Hope for a blistering piece on the parallels between gender and anorexia in young girls.
www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/7362652/changing-gender-new-anorexia/

Ricky Gervais and South Park for their contribution to comedy.

Charlie for her work on raising awareness re detransitioning.

Maya, Helen, Harry, Glinner, Posie, Caro, Lisa Muggeridge, Michelle Moore, Julia Long, all Rosa, the GC academics who put everything on the line,

The school girls who said no to mixed facilitities and the banning of skirts.

R0wan.

And all those who I've missed off but will hopefully be mentioned.
