Slightly off-topic, but isn’t it well known that Dr Harrop, Stephanie Hayden, Joss Prior et al. troll these boards?

Floisme · 30/11/2019 13:03

It is never a good idea to announce you're leaving a thread unless you really, really mean it. Trust me, I'm a serial offender myself.

RonaldMcDonald · 30/11/2019 13:05

I think she is alright on some limited issues.
It is good that someone is making these points

Datun · 30/11/2019 13:06

Not to mention changing what I said. E.g datun above.

Because you're incoherent. On the one hand you are complaining that she said she's not a feminist, and how disappointing that is, and on the other hand say she shouldn't even be a women's rights activist as she is not feminist enough.

And that's your problem. Posie Parker highlights the damage done to women and children through the trans ideology. She's very effective.

That's what she does. You even agree that this is what she does.

She has addressed all your points. The white supremacist was a lack of due diligence, she did not align herself with the people you say she did in the United States. the sterilisation comment was out of exasperation.

This is all nonsense. Posie has said she is no longer a feminist precisely because she does not wish to be constrained by all this cross fire.

So she's not a feminist. She doesn't advocate for rights you think she should. She is nothing to do with you.

I find it extraordinary that you can even be bothered to muster up such a strong (and detailed) opinion about one small woman who genuinely doesn't give a fuck what you think.

Oh, answered my own question there...

APerkyPumpkin · 30/11/2019 13:07

I am allowed to have an opinion, sorry if it offends anyone.

Yes but who accused you of trying to silence Posie?

APerkyPumpkin · 30/11/2019 13:10

All Posie actually does, is to point out that women and girls are different to men, by the very definition of the words. And that erasing these boundaries causes issues.

And she talks about this to whoever will listen, or to who won't listen; whatever their politics or other beliefs.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 30/11/2019 13:10

You know, I'm not sure this firing squad is circular enough. Can't everyone line up properly in a ladylike manner?

3. She posts (or used too, I haven’t watched her in ages) videos taking the piss out of the appearance of trans people. I don’t think this is helpful to the cause and attacking someone’s appearance is not ok, focusing on whether someone looks ‘womanly enough’ is incredibly anti-woman. As it is something women themselves have faced and tried to eliminate for generations.

Misogyny!

If a Black man was invited to meet a white man with long braided hair, smoking Ganja, and the white man said he should be affirmed as a black man by the name of Errol Brown.

People would be saying what a SAINT the black man was that he did not punch the white man but just verbally mocked the white man's appearance.

Littlelamp456 · 30/11/2019 13:11

Read page 2 pumpkin rather than parroting on.

Datun · 30/11/2019 13:14

APerkyPumpkin

Exactly.

She's a suicide blonde who swears like a navvy, doesn't give a fuck and says the word men a lot.

It's extraordinary how some people find this overwhelmingly difficult.

APerkyPumpkin · 30/11/2019 13:14

I am still on page 1 petal.

I literally have no idea what page you are on.

Posie Parker. For women and children. I adore her.
Littlelamp456 · 30/11/2019 13:14

Mae I disagree.

Young girls especially face the torment of social media far more than we did, people picking apart your appearance inch by inch because you’re not perfect enough. Some of PP’s videos included ‘the eyebrows are too far apart, women’s are more arched’ etc.

The appearance is not an issue, if men want to wear make up and have long hair then there is no logical reason as to why they shouldn’t. The issue is with if they then wish to be seen as or call themselves a woman.

Going on about how thin their lips are is completely unnecessary and irrelevant.

ResistSexism · 30/11/2019 13:16

The most telling thing about Posie Parker is how people try to silence her.

Can't be said often enough.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 30/11/2019 13:16

Gosh, it's so unkind to point out that human sexual dimorphism exists and is a thing that can usually be seen in a quick glance at a person's face.

SapphosRock · 30/11/2019 13:17

Datun in response to your earlier question, she's just another Katie Hopkins looking to shock and court controversy.

She's the equivalent of a TRA for the GC feminism 'side'. At least most trans activists are actually transgender - she's not even a feminist which makes everything she does in the name of women's rights seem faintly ridiculous.

I'm sure most transgender people look at the questionable actions of the TRAs and think 'God, you're really not helping' and that's what I think every time I hear from Posie.

Her scary 1950s housewife persona doesn't help her image as a feminist ally either imo. A big like how the masculine TRAs wielding truncheons doesn't make me sympathetic to the TRA cause.

Datun · 30/11/2019 13:19

Her scary 1950s housewife persona doesn't help

Haha! This cracks me up.

APerkyPumpkin · 30/11/2019 13:20

Her scary 1950s housewife persona doesn't help her image as a feminist ally either imo

She happily says she is not a feminist. Or a feminist ally. Perhaps this is saying more about you than it is about her.

Can you post some links to the discussions you have had on national news about the topic and we can compare?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 30/11/2019 13:20

What is it about her hair that gets people so wound up? Looks like more work than I'd be willing to do, but it's just hair.

TheShoesa · 30/11/2019 13:20

I think you have to look at the bigger picture and what damage you can cause by trying to do the right thing

I wish someone would say that to the parents of gender non conforming children

Datun · 30/11/2019 13:20

Datun in response to your earlier question, she's just another Katie Hopkins looking to shock and court controversy.

Seriously?? If calling men, men, is shocking and controversial, it needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Or, I don't know, perhaps a billboard.

Datun · 30/11/2019 13:23

What is it about her hair that gets people so wound up?

I don't know. But it really, really does.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 30/11/2019 13:24

Just to be clear, there are people who consider themselves GC who think that stating biological facts a la the poster I can't quote here because special rules is shocking, and the only reason anyone would say it is to court controversy? Cause honestly, I think everyone should be saying it. Loudly and often.

(Just not here or you'll get banned.)

SapphosRock · 30/11/2019 13:28

I'm sure she resonates with a lot of people, just not with me.

All the 'adult human female' stuff being projected onto buildings - it's a pointless argument. The GRA isn't about to get repealed any time soon so the only purpose it serves is creating hostility between feminists and trans people.

More specific arguments (eg EA exemptions being under threat) resonate with me so much more than Posie's nonsense.

theflushedzebra · 30/11/2019 13:29

What do you mean by "scary 1950s housewife persona" ?

Are you meaning to insult just posie here? Or all women who SAH?

ResistSexism · 30/11/2019 13:30

Opinionated men don't generally get the level of handwringing scrutiny that Posie experiences.

We are free to disagree with Posie and not to support her campaign. We are also free to have a go ourselves if we think we can do better.
