If Posie waited for 'acceptable lefties' to want to make videos with her, she'd not have made videos with any other people.

I thought she apologized for the interview with the White Supremacist? I can't double check now because Facebook have removed her page, but I'm sure I read her saying she hadn't done her research on him and doesn't endorse any of those views.

Just my opinion but I personally think it’s disheartening that the self appointed spokesperson for the GC women’s rights movement is not a feminist.

I like PosieParker, she's outspoken, truthful and takes no shit from anyone. That means she sometimes makes mistakes and when she recognises they're mistakes, she apologises for them. When she doesn't think it's a mistake, she doesn't apologise and makes clear that she's not seeking approval or tribal loyalty. I think that's partly why so many tribal feminists loathe her - because she's not a team player and does her own thing.

I don't agree with everything she says and does but I'm an adult and can cope with the fact that someone who is on the same side as me in the most existential crisis to hit women in the last half-century, doesn't have an identical approach and world-view to mine.

I am also grown up enough not to resent the fact that her confidence looks as though it stems from her being posh (though I believe her background is solid working class Labour) and she's really good looking and looks feminine while her delivery is uncompromising and sometimes abrasive. There's a lot of resentment about that, some of it to do with internalised misogyny, ironically.

When I see the way she's treated by feminists, I see that men will continue to rule the world for some time yet.

Why? Lots of people who are gender critical aren't feminist. Anyone who recognises reality is gender critical.

She's not self appointed, Posie herself has been very clear on that. She started Standing for Women so she is in charge of that but she's not a non-elected leader of the feminist movement. Dear lord.

I think getting upset because someone who knows basic biology doesn't also agree with all the other things that you are in favour of, is a big ask. Just stick to the one issue.

I like her too. I don't agree with absolutely everything she says but there isn't a person alive who I agree with 100% of the time.

Throughout history people have worked alongside other people that they don't agree with in order to advance a cause that they do agree with.

And with the white supremacist, wasn't part of the issue that he asked to have his photo taken with her and she didn't actually know anything about his background? No human can reasonably be expected to know the background of every individual who approaches them.

She's makes very clear that she speaks only for herself.

She doesn't call herself a feminist because feminists have treated er like shit.

This is part of the bullshit as to why women are taking so long to win this battle when it should be easy.

Everyone agrees with us. Everyone. Only a minority of blue-haired loons actually believe that men who say they are women, are really genuinely women and the liberal establishment pretends to believe it for reasons best known to themselves. Everyone else knows it's all bullshit. It's not just a feminist issue, it's a free speech issue, it's a human rights issue and it's an issue of who has the power to define reality and force other people to see reality their way.

This bullshit that it has to be someone who toes some feminist line or other (and who the hell can keep up with who is supposed to be the correct line now, I can't keep track of who hates who and who is calling which group mentally ill at the moment) - is exactly why we haven't won yet.

But we will and it will be because of a myriad of approaches and people and views and PP will be part of the reason and people who hate her will also be part of the reason.

Personally I've never understood the mentality. The Streisand effect is a genuine phenomenon.

Her video has been watched nearly 300,000 times. Because people tried to censor it. The more they try and silence women, the further back they push their own cause.

It's really interesting that they still can't help themselves. The urge to shut women up overcomes the fact that it has the opposite effect.

The need to dominate is everything.

What about women who talk to people who are all for sterilising baby gays and lesbians? Should we take them seriously because they self identify as progressive? What about women who talk to people - Nicola Sturgeon, for example - who think that women's rights should be removed? Should we take them seriously? Who can we talk to? Is there a list?

This is exactly how women get silenced. You tell everyone that they're not allowed to talk to anyone else because it's 'wrong' and then your aim is achieved because no one has a voice at all.

Yes there are plenty GC people who are definitely not feminists!

There’s a multitude of reasons people may not want transwoman to be seen as/treated as woman. From bigotry, to religion, to conservatism, to women’s rights and more.

To posie, it’s clear she has one agenda and I wish her luck on it but to me, my opinion will never change on her. She showed who she was many times, if some people still love her despite of/because of it then great for them, I don’t.

I don't hold with fandom, whoever it is. As far as I'm concerned, the key thing here is critical thinking and elevating individuals can get in the way of that.

Mmm ok-ay. The women's rights that Posey fights for is the right to call themselves women. It's fairly fundamental to all the other rights. Posie is largely about the definition of the word woman, and the abuse heaped on children, coupled with free speech.

And all her campaigns focus intensely on these issues.

If you can't take any of that seriously, then that's entirely up to you. Not an admission that I would be comfortable with.

I don't think even they really believe it though. Not in their hearts. They just don't want to come out and say so (yet). Do a 7Up style social experiment on them and see what happens over time.

PP was on Mumsnet for years discussing women's rights, she was at FILIA at least a decade ago, at a time when the trans issue wasn't even discussed there from what I remember.
