The most telling thing about Posie Parker is how people try to silence her.

Indeed

Datun · 30/11/2019 10:36

The most telling thing about Posie Parker is how people try to silence her.

Agreed.

She's not a feminist enough. She talks to the wrong people. She's got other opinions I don't agree with.

Posie is effective. Which is why these lame, paltry excuses look so transparent.

LangCleg · 30/11/2019 10:38

The most telling thing about Posie Parker is how people try to silence her.

And, more to the point, how she doesn't try to silence them.

I really couldn't give a flying fuck if Posie says something I disagree with. I won't get fucking hives if she does. She's not catching for fucks sake.

LangCleg · 30/11/2019 10:40

Be careful, silly women with ladybrains! She might infect you!

(This attitude really, really fucks me off. Have I said fuck enough yet?)

Datun · 30/11/2019 10:42

IKR?

Aargh, don't touch! Pick it up, wear gloves, use tongs! Throw it in the garden!

Now wash your hands.

DeeZastris · 30/11/2019 10:47

She’s a breath of fresh air. Cuts through the crap and gives no fucks.

littlbrowndog · 30/11/2019 10:57

I like her. She says it

And getting silenced for it

TheShoesa · 30/11/2019 10:57

I've said it before and I'll say it again - it was Posie's epic rant that there was a thread about on here which got me talking to people in real life about this issue.

I'm sure I wouldn't agree with her on a lot of things, but that doesn't mean that I can't admire her persistence on this. She is very direct in her delivery, which is at odds with what women are supposed to be like and it works.

Datun · 30/11/2019 11:01

I like her. She says it

Indeed. Like here, for instance.

She's not a feminist enough. She talks to the wrong people.

Surely the wrong people need right people to persuade them out of their wrongness.

APerkyPumpkin · 30/11/2019 11:04

I don’t think that someone who doesn’t seem too bothered about women’s rights in any other way, should speak as a ‘women’s rights activist’ when they are only concerned about the one issue, and to do so as if they are doing it from the feminist stance.

Lol. Posie womaning wrong again. I'm sure she will be devastated.

Littlelamp456 · 30/11/2019 11:04

You are criticising my opinions in a similar fashion that I am criticising posies, yet only one of us is trying to ‘silence’ someone, is that right? Wink

theflushedzebra · 30/11/2019 11:10

PP was on Mumsnet for years discussing women's rights, she was at FILIA at least a decade ago, at a time when the trans issue wasn't even discussed there from what I remember.

You remember correctly - I started reading FWR in about 2011, and posie was here - always arguing for women, against the sex industry, and v v pro-women. I love her.

APerkyPumpkin · 30/11/2019 11:13

Criticising your opinions is not silencing you. It is responding to your words.

If you choose those words criticising others don't be surprised if people respond to them. Particularly when they make no sense. Wink

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 30/11/2019 11:15

I could watch Posie talk over AH all day.

Campervan69 · 30/11/2019 11:18

I think she is brilliant. She's got a lot of publicity to the cause.

I have her woman stickers and everyday I go out on my lunch break and make sure I stick a couple on lamp posts and recycling bins around my neighborhood and where I work.

I don't agree with everything she says or has done but but that's absolutely fine as none of us are clones of each other. That's what makes life so interesting and complicated.

APerkyPumpkin · 30/11/2019 11:19

I could watch Posie talk over AH all day.

When he realises he fell right into her trap is delicious.

Datun · 30/11/2019 11:19

Except, you said she's a feminist. She's not.

You said she talked to white supremacists, she has explained why.

You said she's a self appointed leader. She isn't.

You said she only talks about specific women's rights. But have been told that is incorrect.

Jane hatchet rights for abused women. Karen Ingala Smith campaigns on behalf of dead women. Julie bindle, prostituted women. Those are fairly specific. Perhaps you'd like to criticise them?

People are responding to your criticisms, showing that they are unfounded.

womanaf · 30/11/2019 11:20

I think Posie’s a fucking marvel. Absolutely love her.

If you don’t like the way she’s doing her activism, do something different yourself.

GeordieTerf · 30/11/2019 11:20

I love Posie. She is a huge asset to the GC movement. Smile

ScreamingBeans · 30/11/2019 11:21

You aren't being silenced Littlelamp.

If you know better than anyone here about why we are wrong about the (factually accurate) things we're saying about PP, then you're welcome to argue your case.

If your case is good enough, you will change minds. If it isn't, you won't. You might get people to agree with you on some aspects of your argument while disagreeing with you on others. That's how arguments in the adult world work.

What will not happen, is that we'll all refuse to work with you on an issue which affects all of us and then slander you and lie about you and accuse you of being a nazi from this time forward.

Well, at least I don't think it will. Unless Mumsnet has caught the twitterfacebooks.

Floisme · 30/11/2019 11:21

You are criticising my opinions in a similar fashion that I am criticising posies, yet only one of us is trying to ‘silence’ someone, is that right?

Has someone reported your posts on this thread and tried to get you banned? If so then welcome to our world and yes, it is very wrong.
Or do you just mean that people have disagreed with you?

HavelockVetinari · 30/11/2019 11:24

She's pretty good in my opinion, and has done a lot to help the cause with her Adult Human Female t-shirts. I dislike the way she makes snide remarks about trans women's appearance, it makes her look petty, but given the much more unpleasant remarks a lot of TRAs have made about her I suppose she's just retaliating.

NotDavidTennant · 30/11/2019 11:28

Cannot understand how any feminist can take her seriously after that video with Jean-Francois Gariépy

IMO appearing with Gariepy was a misjudgement, but I don't agree with the idea that we should be 'cancelling' people for making the occasional mistake. Obviously if there was evidence that Posie agrees with Gariepy's alt-right views then I'd revise my opinion of her, but as far as I'm aware no-on has produced any evidence of that.

FloralBunting · 30/11/2019 11:31

NotDavidTennant, pretty damned sure she apologized for it.
