Badley Fuckitt’s pop-up Winter gin bar is open for business. We’ve got faux-sheepskins, a log fire being stoked by young Nigel and enough gin to drown an army of sealions. (Note to PETA, not real ones, natch)

Do you have some kind of sound proofed oubliette or a sensory deprivation chamber in this here pub? I’ve just realised it’s an INSET day today and I’d very much like to hide from my children.

Seems I missed the party but have just made an enormous pot of coffee which is stewing while I drink a half pint of tea. Kettle’s still hot (2nd fill) so am happy to dispense. Small dog spare too. He farts a lot.

Meeting up with a GC friend today for a day out, she is an amazing woman. She occasionally visits here, but I don’t know if she’s been to Badley Fuckitt. She would love it, I must mention it to her today over more🍷 of course!

Vin ah a real life GC friend. God that would be so nice. I fear my friends think I have slightly lost the plot with it all as they mainly just don’t won’t understand why we can’t all just be kind. Every time I bring anything up they either don’t believe me or tell me off for making everything about feminism. It’s made me feel very differently about a few of them to be honest. The same lack of concern for other women which is so reprehensibly on display on that NHS thread.

Yes Badger, it has certainly taken our friendship to an even deeper level. I have known her for over 25 years and I spoke to her about it when I was quite naive about it all, and thank goodness we were, and still are on the same side.

It is lovely to be able to actually speak to someone in those WTAF moments.

I'm pretty sure a pub designed for women will have a soundproofed and supervised crèche and playroom for those who need a break from their little 'uns and medium sized ones. My big one would probably join us if she wasn't too busy, especially with all the dogs.

The two most lethal infused so you don't realize how much booze you're consuming tipples I've had - oolong tea infused vodka (homemade, we mixed it with actual tea chu hai style and were going through it like it was just regular iced tea - do not advise) and ginger infused shoju (excellent by itself, also goes well with lemon-y things).

I know it's very un Mumsnetty but I don't really do gin. Have recently developed more of an interest in whisky after stealing some of my dad's when he was drinking the fancy stuff.

Turning up with a bottle of chocolate caramel vodka fresh out of the dishwasher (I make it in there) and a cat that gets an arse on if you snigger-jiggle it by laughing while it's snoozing on the same sofa as you.

I had stollen for breakfast the other day! Better or worse then WBH - discuss? My theory is that it's sort of a bread therefore if some people can eat those giant American muffins that are basically cake for breakfast then I can have stollen with my tea.

Stollen is a bread, of course it's OK for brekkie.
Not that there's any food which should automatically be rejected as breakfast, the range of traditional foods in the UK is a pretty mixed bag. Kippers? Kedgeree? Devilled kidneys?

(Note - I'm not getting into debate as to whether WBH is better classified as food or adhesive)

Fruity wallpaper paste! DH feels that stollen is a dessert or a snack. I pointed out that he eats congee for breakfast sometimes (so do I), and he countered with the fact that my dad eats salty oats, so now we're at an impasse.

(I feel that oats should come with brown sugar)

Fruit and yogurt can be a snack or dessert.

Also on the subject of violet gin, but shifting sideways - had a cocktail made with creme de violette over the summer. It was boozier than I expected. Have never had it in anything else so not sure what it tastes like by itself (this drink mixed it with champagne and I think some other stuff, I just ordered it because it was purple and I'm a goth).

I really like violet gin (I also like the fact that auto correct wants to make it ‘violent gin’)

Also of course stollen is ok for breakfast. Nourishing, innit?
