There's lots of clever, knowledgeable women on here. Perhaps we could have a space for gathering research, ideas and policy proposals?

I'm in, if you'll have me. Politically homeless, GC lefty lesbian.

DozeyTwonk · 15/11/2019 21:11

I'm in. Long time lurker. I'm super pissed off (and quite scared) about the erosion of womens rights.

CeridwenTheWitch · 15/11/2019 21:13

I have an idea for a name for the new think tank - The Maya Forstater Foundation? If Maya is happy for it to be! In honour of her being bravely feminist at a think tank and losing her job over it.

Cuntysnark · 15/11/2019 21:15

I’m in. In awe of some (most) of the women here. You see things so clearly but I’m right behind you. Bit slower on the uptake but getting it. Angrily.

FemininPluriel · 15/11/2019 21:17

I’m just looking at SSAUK now.

I’m also politically homeless. Politically hopeless, more like.

Get the tories out. Obviously! Also parent of a child with SEN. Work with some of the most deprived young people in our society. See everyday how unjust and downright vicious this system is. Never ever ever would I sanction that.

Yet in my constituency LDs are roaring ahead...but they clearly aren’t GC...AND I have never really been clear on what they stand for. Yeah, remain blah blah. I’m a remainder. But I don’t trust them. And they arent female friendly. Why would I vote fir a party that doesnt want he?

Greens. Wokety woke - worse than the LDs. And no hope of even registering where I am.

....and then there is my supposed political home (Labour). Wall to wall woke momentum DICKS. .,, and Dawn Butler as Shadow Equalities Minister. And fucking Corbyn.

Gah.

Shall we start a feminist think tank?
Barracker · 15/11/2019 23:18

I will think in a tank with you lot any day.

I'm in.

BlackeyedSusan · 15/11/2019 23:28

Politically homeless, parent of two disabled children. Not much time for thinking, but stress eating means I have the dimensions of a bloody great big tank ..

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 15/11/2019 23:40

What an excellent idea. As another politically homeless person we need this. Count me in.

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 16/11/2019 00:19

but could work to influence and lobby whoever gets in with practical positive solutions

This is what we need, non stop lobbying behind the scenes, articles in papers, gain influence.
Suggest a campaign to stop many women seeing feminism as troublesome and unnecessary.

McCanne · 16/11/2019 00:34

Totally in.

Scarscar · 16/11/2019 00:55

I'm interested.
@StoatofDisarray think I just woke my neighbours up laughing Grin

Fallingirl · 16/11/2019 02:28

I’m in too. I know next to nothing about lobbying, but am fairly good at research and stringing arguments together.

HarrietTheFly · 16/11/2019 02:39

I'm poor and not well connected but I've been following this debate for the last 5 years and would be happy to help and lend support in any way I can.

NeurotrashWarrior · 16/11/2019 06:20

I'm involved in some research of sorts at the mo, I don't have much time to give due to general life and women but absolutely can offer ideas or comment when associated with my areas.

LiterallyProblematic · 16/11/2019 08:07

No skills but definitely in

TheTrickyWitch · 16/11/2019 08:10

I'm in and am a GP so useful for medical stuff I hope. Time poor but will contribute on any way I can.

Newuser123123 · 16/11/2019 08:33

OK brilliant, a really good mix of people, all of your views and experiences will be important, the broader the mix, the more authority we have.

Perhaps the first step is seeing what already exists to make sure we're not duplicating efforts. Does anyone know of any other organisations with similar aims, other than :
Women's place UK (or is it woman's?)
Fairplay for women
Safer schools alliance uk
Lgb alliance

I would then suggest we start looking at policies in order of importance to us, and start to think through positive, practical solutions that ensure safety, dignity and respect for all.

I don't think you can name a think tank after a person who's alive without that person being the figurehead or having a significant role.

Imagine if someone named a think tank after you but you had no actual say or control over what they did. That would be a bit weird wouldn't it?!

If you want to recognise Maya's hugely important contribution perhaps ask her to get involved?

everybodypuuuullllll · 16/11/2019 08:48

For Women Scotland

Also, what are the other Scottish groups called?

YoungHun · 16/11/2019 09:16

I'm in

BlackeyedSusan · 16/11/2019 09:22

So what are the most important issues to you?

What issues are being covered well by other groups?

Does one go for a single issue to fill the gap between other groups mentioned or go for a broader remit.

I have a feeling too broad and it will start too many arguements and be ineffective.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/11/2019 09:24

Female only spaces could cover lots of areas, hospitals, medical appointments, changing rooms in sport, shops, etc.
