Shall we start a feminist think tank?

There's lots of clever, knowledgeable women on here. Perhaps we could have a space for gathering research, ideas and policy proposals?

Interesting idea.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 15/11/2019 16:15

Oh yes please, count me in. What a splendid and much needed initiative.
I'm another leftie, but I'm happy to work together with women from across the political spectrum in defence of women's sex based rights.

Findumdum1 · 15/11/2019 16:24

me too

PlasticPatty · 15/11/2019 16:28

You have my support. I'm not knowledgeable. I do think feminist connection is essential now.

NeurotrashWarrior · 15/11/2019 16:35

I'm in.

What exactly is a think tank?

NeurotrashWarrior · 15/11/2019 16:35

please remove the image of a green tank from my mind

NeurotrashWarrior · 15/11/2019 16:38

Wiki helped a bit - I feel it's already nearly there with the various groups such as Wpuk etc.

How is it different?

Annasgirl · 15/11/2019 16:44

That’s a great idea. Count me in. I love research!!!! I’m neither left wing nor in the UK but I’m 100% for the rights of women - and they are adult human females.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 15/11/2019 17:10

I have just asked my MP on twitter and FB, what his party is going to do about abuse to biological women and also what they will do about the child maintenance system. My MP is the Tory chairman.

MockersthefeMANist · 15/11/2019 17:51

Tank as in big glass container full of little fishies, or nasty smoke-belching tracked vehicle with ruddy great gun on top?

Newuser123123 · 15/11/2019 18:15

I'm not sure where the tank but originates for. Perhaps we could pick a topic a week or fortnight and work on it, hone ideas. We're too late for this election, but could work to influence and lobby whoever gets in with practical positive solutions

I’m a serial name changer and lazy poster, but avid reader of the Feminism boards here and 100% GC. My blood is boiling that John Lewis can release a cutesy Christmas ad featuring a little girl while at the same time condoning an adult male using the same private changing area because he feeeeels like a woman.

It’s bullshit. I’m in.

(I work in safeguarding and would be more than happy to contribute to arguments and issues around this area particularly).

NeurotrashWarrior · 15/11/2019 18:30

Fem

Are you in SSUK? Your back ground could be useful.

FemininPluriel · 15/11/2019 18:32

What’s SSUK?

Bouledeneige · 15/11/2019 19:23

I'm in

NeurotrashWarrior · 15/11/2019 19:46

Sorry SSAUK

NeurotrashWarrior · 15/11/2019 19:49

As a teacher I am watching the safeguarding holes become gaping chasms and no one up on high is thinking about these issues nor connecting the dots.

PerkingFaintly · 15/11/2019 19:57

Oh I thought this was a joke thread title.

I'm actually interested now.

slipperywhensparticus · 15/11/2019 20:02

I might jump in politically I'm adrift at the moment conservative government have screwed us over as the mother to a disabled child in benefits my feet are fucking freezing I really cant vote for them but Corbyn? The liberals are out way out so what am I to do

Bowednotbroken · 15/11/2019 20:09

Very interested - another politically homeless person here. Dreading the actual election as I can't bear not to vote, and can't bear to vote for any of the shit shower here.

Daughterofmabel · 15/11/2019 20:11

Another politically homeless woman here. Thats woman as in adult human female

ChampagneCommunist · 15/11/2019 20:31

Politically lost Adult Human Female here ready to counted in.

If it helps, I'm a lawyer so have access to lots of legal resources for research

StoatofDisarray · 15/11/2019 20:40

You have my axe!

jenthelibrarian · 15/11/2019 20:51

Another adult human female here!

IamEarthymama · 15/11/2019 20:59

Please count me in! I, with other GC women, met today with our Assembly Member to discuss the Labour Women’s Declaration.

It was a very usual meeting and we got our opinions over well, I believe.

She has asked for a list of our concerns so I am currently going through Facebook and Twitter and collating articles on sport, prison, police, Labour Party, single-Sex spaces etc.
Sadly there is an abundance of choice!
I know that there are many resources here on MN too.

I do think it’s important to be positive too, to enable us to feel that we are strong together and will affect the future for generations to come.
