From The Fail unfortunately maybe someone can find another source but I cant see one atm.

Transgender lobby forces sanitary towel-maker Always to ditch Venus logo from its products

Sanitary towel pad maker now kowtows to transgender activists born female
They removed the feminine Venus symbol from its products after complaints
Butmany of Always’s female customers have responded angrily to the move
Sanitary towels with the new packaging will arrive in the stores by January 2020

I’d be interested to know if trans men have campaigned to put sanitary bins in men’s toilets and if so how far that has got. My guess - as it affects men’s facilities, not very.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 20/10/2019 13:29

God I love the women of Lipstick Alley, they take no shit.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 20/10/2019 13:34

If they weren't doing it, wouldn't they be crisis managing the shitshow currently all over their public facing social media, and several news sites?

It'd be the work of moments to say "no, we are not changing the packaging"

So why the silence?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 13:40

I had to but some today. I voted with my wallet. If this isn’t happening why not issue a press release or tweet that they aren’t doing this bla bla bla. But no - customers not worth bothering about or even listening to? Nah.

andyoldlabour · 20/10/2019 13:55

This is one of the tweets from "melly boom", which was sent to Always. If someone could please do screenshots it may be useful.

Always makes their money, globally, through women who are born female. If true this is a ridiculous own goal for them. There are plenty of other sanitary towel providers in the market and people like me, who have heavy flows, will just return to using maternity pads

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 14:02

That’s funny. What a waste of space. How very little they must have on their life.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 20/10/2019 14:05

Yet again I am [opposite of surprised] to see which replies are hidden/deboosted.

Imagine how pleasant Twitter could be if they used their algorithm for good rather than this blatant women hating?

lucasthecat · 20/10/2019 14:06

The email denial from P&G - isn’t really a denial - it just says we (whoever is replying) don’t find about packaging changes until the package changes - which sounds a bit lame - and the Daily Mail when printing stories about multi billion companies don’t tend to pick stories out of thin air and will have done a bit of due diligence -

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 20/10/2019 14:06

God I love the women of Lipstick Alley, they take no shit.

I dunno, calling trans men 'dumb bitches' seems unnecessary to me....

MagneticSingularity · 20/10/2019 14:07

Well I can’t boycott Always because I no longer need them but just looked at some of Proctor & Gamble’s other brands and I’ll be boycotting the fuck outta:

Pantene
Swiffer
Dawn
Olay
Tide...the list goes on and on and fucking on including, and I kid you fucking not, in fact it deserves a drumroll - wait for it...

....Gillette fucking Venus !! You can’t make this shit up.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 20/10/2019 14:09

Bit still, the fact remains that if you are having periods then you are categorically female regardless of anything else. Therefore the female symbol is totally appropriate.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 14:54

And if you have ceased to have periods - you still had them!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 20/10/2019 14:56

I don't know why the trans community is so up in arms anyway. To reflect one of their own taglines back at them

TERF Venus is just a descriptive name, it's not a loaded term at all.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 15:14

Because one or two trans men decided it was terrible to have it on there. The push to deny anything as ‘woman’ in case it upsets the trans community. I don’t see tena man getting this much Gip.

BlackForestCake · 20/10/2019 15:32

Shouldn't there be a separate masculine-looking brand of sanpro for people who have periods but are men somehow? Probably called something suitably macho like Clot Patrol or I'm Too Tough To Be Bothered With Periods. This is par for the course for every other kind of toiletry.

beckyvardy · 20/10/2019 15:48

Won't be buying anything P & G now.

That has made me absolutely feeewwwmin. Joke of it is, probably because I have PMT I am already ragey today.

The world has gone mad.

Here is their list of products off wiki.

Michelleoftheresistance · 20/10/2019 15:53

Black Forest wonder why this isn't occurring to the super woke firms.

Wider market. If they'd brought out a new line, with new packaging, a gender neutral range to be sold alongside their classic range, I'd have cheered them on. It's never to add wider variety. It's always to disguise the fact of biological women existing.

Aridane · 20/10/2019 15:55

There was a thread about this but MNHQ took it down as the reports were unconfirmed

No - MNHQ Took it down for transphobia, or in MNHQ twee speak, ,not in the spirt'.

Yes Dundee university tried this, and it got shelved after a few weeks after the facilities got vandalised. Scottish schools, colleges and unis provide free sanitary products to all students.

Dundee

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 16:10

Anyone else getting Fairy ads popping up?

Jaxhog · 20/10/2019 16:13

Easy response. Boycott.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 16:22

I have a handy list on my phone. It’s getting rather long!

BeanBag7 · 20/10/2019 16:31

I think about 1% of the population identify as transgender. Maybe they could change the packaging to have 99 venus signs and 1 Mars sign per packet.

Or put "XX" on the packaging to show that the people using it are genetically female?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 16:34

I’m finding Mars bars just too too triggering. I had to lie down in a darkened room after shopping today.
