From The Fail unfortunately maybe someone can find another source but I cant see one atm.

Transgender lobby forces sanitary towel-maker Always to ditch Venus logo from its products

Sanitary towel pad maker now kowtows to transgender activists born female
They removed the feminine Venus symbol from its products after complaints
Butmany of Always’s female customers have responded angrily to the move
Sanitary towels with the new packaging will arrive in the stores by January 2020

Gonna get RSI at that rate.

I imagine 'their' right hand is already well exercised.

DoctorTwo · 22/10/2019 17:26

I find it strange that a company would throw their brand under a bus by alienating their market, especially as they're supposed to maximise profits for their shareholders benefit.

Irisloulou · 22/10/2019 17:54

i got deleted! There’s no freedom of speech, when it comes to protecting this tiny sector of society.

We should all boycott P&G! I certainly will. Are you reading P&G... you have just alienated your target market!

I worded that was really badly Birdsfoottrefoil. Apologies. I meant to say (something along the lines of) 'if having a period is triggering, I would have thought the symbol would be the least of your worries'. I didn't mean to suggest removing the symbol was a non issue.

Venusextatic · 23/10/2019 14:20

Too angry to type effectively -why must the few get to eradicate the many? Basic biological erosion underway here.
Will never buy their products ever again.

HandsOffMyRights · 23/10/2019 15:39

From the piece: *Getting periods can be a dysphoric experience for transgender and nonbinary people, especially because of the way that periods are generally discussed and addressed as something that only happens to people who are assigned women at birth.

Confused
DuMondeB · 23/10/2019 15:41

No one is assigned ‘woman’ at birth.

Observed female, referred to as ‘girl’ sure.

HandsOffMyRights · 23/10/2019 15:42

Oh and looks like Mastercard (appropriate name) Lyft? and Tinder are the latest/next to glug the Koolaid, according to the article.

I have a Mastercard. It's well used.

Periods what now? Do the lads sit in the pub and discuss their periods over a pint?

Periods generally discussed and addressed as something that only happens to people who are assigned women at birth. Oh boy, have I got news for these people.

Is this just a huge immaturity and self absorption thing?

MrsWednesdayteatime · 23/10/2019 20:43

I'm wondering if Tena men & Tena lady will come under pressure to change names to something more "inclusive"

OhHolyJesus · 23/10/2019 21:37

Oh yes I had forgotten about Tena.

Cheeky Wipes have gone the way of Thinx, sort of...at least we are not reduced to 'menstruators'.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 23/10/2019 22:04

Maybe this needs a thread of its own?

mobile.twitter.com/BBCAfrica/status/1105872131362091009

"Kenyan women are using the Twitter hashtag #MyAlwaysExperience to express outrage over the Always brand of sanitary pads, which they say causes rashes, burns and discomfort."
One woman even says she thought that was normal to feel burning.

HandsOffMyRights · 23/10/2019 22:36

For those of you wondering what the recent deletions are for, well several posters used a traditional (Scottish?) word that rhymes with baddie...

BarbaraStrozzi · 23/10/2019 22:40

Blimey, that twitter thread is an eye-opener, Once.

Yes, definitely start a thread on that as well. I know a lot of us have said Always gives us an itchy fanny, but it sounds like Always have gone one worse in countries where they think they can get away with dumping sub standard products where consumer regulation isn't as tight, and are actually selling products which cause chemical burns.

(NB, used to share an office with a fellow student part of whose research involved making polyelectrolyte gels - the stuff that goes into Always and nappies - and the precursor chemicals are incredibly nasty, even if the end result is pretty benign. I can only begin to imagine what the end result would be like if something went wrong in your processing plant and some of the nasties lingered in the end product...)

Raindrops17 · 23/10/2019 22:53

My worry is those businesses that are being 'inclusive' but not really announcing it, so it's not as noticeable as Always and some other brands. So very subtle changes but we still end up at a point where businesses no longer use the words woman, female, feminine etc. If the words can be eliminated when talking about periods then we have no hope for other areas of life.

Raindrops17 · 23/10/2019 22:55

I'm wondering if Tena men & Tena lady will come under pressure to change names to something more "inclusive"

Tena Men will probably go unchallenged but it will be Tena Lady that has to change to Tena People or maybe just Tena. Confused

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 23/10/2019 22:59

BarbaraStrozzi
Apologies it was posted about a couple pgs back I missed it but worth the bump for others anyway I hope. Yes it's just nasty isn't it.I'll be keeping an eye in that twitter thread to see if the always team will reply to these women.

Raindrops17 · 23/10/2019 23:16

I've just read the post on cheeky wipes Facebook page. Clear to see many people (Inc posie Parker) have been deleted and banned.

I'm finding this all so very depressing Sad what does the future hold..

Michelleoftheresistance · 23/10/2019 23:22

The way things are going, the future will inevitably hold a very large international liberation movement for exceptionally pissed off people born female, who are done with putting up with all this crap.
