Sanitary towel pad maker now kowtows to transgender activists born female
They removed the feminine Venus symbol from its products after complaints
Butmany of Always’s female customers have responded angrily to the move

@CanaryBlossom Because women are no longer allowed to discuss women's rights, safety or what it means to be a women. Or we risk offending those who are taking those things away.

I suspect Mumsnet is anti-feminist now. I'm waiting for my comments to be deleted, or the entire thread. Maybe I'll be blocked before I decide enough is enough and I'll boycott Mumsnet. Or prove me wrong Mumsnet and cut it out, start a 21st century suffragettes forum. Turn down anti-women advertisers. Taking whatever you can get doesn't reflect well to us or advertisers.

Flowers Ernest

PJsatMidday · 20/10/2019 11:41

@ErnestJones Flowers So sorry you are going through this.

I went through an awful miscarriage too, 13 years ago. The blood and the pain, god I would not wish that on anyone and it makes me so angry that this is apparently a "Cis" privilege I am not supposed to talk about while men can post about sticking Tampax up their arses an d claiming they are having their period.

Quaffy · 20/10/2019 11:43

ernestjones

I am so sorry. Sending you lots of love. No male will ever experience what you are currently suffering and that needs to be recognised Flowers

Female biology is absolutely central to the experience of being a woman for so many. All love to trans people but I firmly believe that we should not minimise the central role it plays.

TequilaPilates · 20/10/2019 11:46

Or if they don't want to take hormones, they can have their tubes tied.

Erm, do you understand how the female body works? Having your "tubes tied" doesn't stop periods, it stops you from getting pregnant.

Sleepyhead19 · 20/10/2019 11:47

Sorry but trans men don’t want periods, so what the hell does a logo matter to them? Or do they want it both ways? I’m confused... as it seems they are!!! I identify as a woman, I was born female, I have periods and I am offended that people identifying as the opposite sex are trying to disguise my femininity. All this rubbish is really annoying me now. Everything is changing for a minority who appear to now have power over everything!

CoolCarrie · 20/10/2019 11:47

I emailed Always yesterday and received a response that they had no plans to remove the logo from their packaging at all.

ThreeLittleDinos · 20/10/2019 11:48

The only person I knew who has had it done, said it also stopped periods. I've never looked into it and assumed it was true. If it isn't, then okay, not an option to stop periods.

Pandaintheporridge · 20/10/2019 11:50

Coolcarrie could you share that response?

Heyheythey · 20/10/2019 11:53

Just to point out it’s a Female sign not a Feminine sign. The connotation of the use of ‘feminine’ in the original article suggested that it was just a decorative motif like a flower, or a fluffy kitten. But no, it’s a sign that indicates it’s a product for use by Females. Pretty superfluous in and of itself. But it’s the fact that it’s been removed to stop offending menstruating females who don’t want to be labelled as menstruating females but menstruating men.

Michelleoftheresistance · 20/10/2019 11:55

It's never 'please add something for us too' it's always 'take that AWAY from women to give to us'. Tells you all you need to know: this isn't about inclusion, it's about competitive erasure.

Always, I'm devastated. I've shared your 'throw like a girl' campaign and stood behind the really important message it shares. And now you've jumped straight from empowering female born people to what...? Throw like a …… person? So we can't see the whole POINT of that campaign which was as soon as the word 'woman' gets used, sexism cuts in and people born female are disadvantaged? That silly outdated gender stereotypes damage people born female?

Always for men.

Yes, everything, always, ALWAYS, is for men. Whether born that way or identifying that way, male always trumps women. You utter sexist muppets.

Heyheythey · 20/10/2019 11:57

And I totally sympathise with any trans man that experiences periods. It must be awful when you’ve grown a beard, deepened your voice, have started to get a receding hairline and your biology just won’t play ball and insists on doing this most female of things and menstruating. I’ve seen videos from transmen like Alex Bertie and it really affects them.

Quaffy · 20/10/2019 11:57

I respect Ben’s identity as a man but the fact he has a need for these products just shows you can’t identify out of female biology.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 20/10/2019 12:04

What I don't understand is that if you have a dysphoria and menstruating is difficult for you (which makes sense and I am sympathetic about that)...then why don't you use any of the many options to prevent menstruation?

It's not obligatory.

SorryAuntLydia · 20/10/2019 12:05

@CoolCarrie please share your letter that says this news story is not true

snowbear66 · 20/10/2019 12:06

It doesn't seem to be happening to brands for men, they are not being targeted to include transwomen - I bet some transwomen still have to shave.
'Bulldog skincare for men'
Gillett The best a man can get'
Product category 'Male grooming'.

Michelleoftheresistance · 20/10/2019 12:09

Interesting, Carrie. I looked on the Always Twitter feed when HQ removed this as possible fake news. There's plenty on the Twitter feed about it, and no message from Always in their responses that this is not real or happening.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 20/10/2019 12:09

I agree with hey and viv

I honestly sympathise with any transman who has periods

They are a fucking pain for most females, i dont know anyone who likes the sodding things, but especially if you are suffering with dysphoria and hating your body

I feel like my body is betraying me as it is!

AlexaAmbidextra · 20/10/2019 12:11

They can take hormones to stop them. Or if they don't want to take hormones, they can have their tubes tied.

I think the whole pandering to the trans thing is bloody ridiculous but just to point out. Having your tubes tied doesn’t stop menstruation.

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 20/10/2019 12:11

If it really is so abhorrent to see a symbol representing women they can use Tena for men.
On the other hand if this is based on a deep seated hatred of women, this kind of shit will continue until everything is either male centric or gender neutral.

LonginesPrime · 20/10/2019 12:13

Well I'm guessing it's confirmed now if it's in the papers.

It's in the Fail - they don't let the truth get in the way of clickbait.

I can't find anything on the P&G or Always websites - someone else confirming on Twitter that it's on the P&G website is unnecessary if it's on the website for all to see.

Boycotting P&G would be a huge change for me (and probably lots of people) as they own so many brands - so I'd like to know it's true before putting energy into this!

Does anyone have a reliable source to share please?

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 20/10/2019 12:13

No sympathy for trans men either; if you want tea and sympathy don’t choose to treat your dysphoria by attempting to erase signs of womanhood, can’t have it both ways.

CoolCarrie · 20/10/2019 12:15

The response I received from P and G

Thank you for your email and inquiry
I have checked the history of our products and see no mention of any wrapper or packaging changes. If there is an upcoming change , this information would not be shared with us until it happens.
Thank you for taking a moment to share your heartfelt thoughts with us. Having the opinions and preferences of those who use our products is helpful to us.
Your feedback is appreciated and will be shared with all the Always team.
Kind regards
Karen the Always team.

Now of course this doesn’t say that a change may or may not happened, (just that she can’t see any plans. I also pointed out the unpopularity of the scented products) , however at least Igot a response and if more of us get in touch the truth of the matter will come out.

CoolCarrie · 20/10/2019 12:19

I sent it to the enquiry part of P and G Always page
