Great article in the Mail on Sunday today about the awful impacts on girls of being forced to share loos with boys at school. With quotes from a female GP about the health and psychological impacts of girls not having single-sex loos, Stephanie Davies-Arai from Transgender Trend, and David Davies MP

You do realise that many children avoid going to the toilet at school anyway, and always have done, even when the toilets are single sex?

How does making them even less like to want to use them help this situation?

TitianaTitsling · 06/10/2019 10:13

tequila so bullying is going to happen anyway, so what's a little more going to hurt?

Qcng · 06/10/2019 10:14

so the only realistic alternative is make all gender neutral

WTF no it isn't Confused

Themyscira · 06/10/2019 10:14

It's bullshit is what it is.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 10:15

What are a few UTIs if it makes TRAs happy and the lives of the school governors easier?

If people would just write "I do not give a single fuck about the wellbeing of girls" it would save a lot of time.

Tonnerre · 06/10/2019 10:18

It's a Mail article, I would apply large pinches of salt.

OldCrone · 06/10/2019 10:18

Tequila sounds a lot like Ruth Hunt with her 'men will always rape women' comment.

Making a bad situation worse doesn't improve the situation.

TitianaTitsling · 06/10/2019 10:18

Ah but prodigal there are no sparkly magik feelz with a UTI so clearly less important.

No magical feels when they are the only one using the facility in the end either.

Sorry mate it's not like in the movies we dont all discuss our tits, walk around in our underwear etc sorry the porn fantasy is about to be buseted

Once parents start complaining the lives of the school governors could become a lot harder. There are a lot more parents than there are TRAs.

So many blokes must be so disappointed about the lack of sexy pillowfights.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 06/10/2019 10:26

Funny how unimportant the experiences and feelings of girls are to some - even on here Confused.

It's not manipulative at all. The only schools that I know of with mixed sex toilets were built that way so if they were to change to single sex it wouldn't be going back to how they were originally, it would be changing them.

The poster above who describes the boys looking over the toilet - that is awful. At my school the same thing happened every day except that the toilets were single sex and the people doing it were the older girls bullying the younger girls. The effect was the same though - we all avoided using the toilets. Having single sex toilets doesn't make these problems disappear.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 06/10/2019 10:28

I mentioned this on another thread but I think it bears repeating.

A colleague of mine died from a UTI.

She phoned in sick on the Friday saying she was going to the doctor's for antibiotics. She phoned again on the Monday morning saying she didn't think the antibiotic was agreeing with her and was going back to the doctors. By Monday evening she was dead from sepsis.

UTIs can kill. It is rare but it happens. Sooner or later a child will die because the powers that be are too cowardly to say 'no' to trans privilege activists.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 10:31

And you know very well that's not the case for most schools, Tequila, so again, manipulative.

If anyone doesn't understand why adding boys into a space where girls are already being bullied and are required to pull their knickers down is going to make things exponentially worse then I'm not sure how to explain. Perhaps a Welcome to Earth guide would be helpful.

OldCrone · 06/10/2019 10:32

Having single sex toilets doesn't make these problems disappear.

Does making them mixed sex make these problems disappear? Or does it make them worse?

SarahTancredi · 06/10/2019 10:33

tequila

Schools have attempted to tackle bullying by making all the toilets open plan.

Doubling the amount if people using the toilets doubles the amount of bullying that could take place.

The answer to bullying is not to say "sod it its happening anyway so a bit more wont hurt"
This is state sanctioned sexual harassment of girls. They are not allowed to say no to boys in their space. Forcing girls to have no boundaries is grooming. This is sexual harassment plain and simple.

If a school cant tackle bullying it's not the girls responsibility to take even more of it

Qcng · 06/10/2019 10:33

Uh... Older girls can't stick their dick in you

TequilaPilates · 06/10/2019 10:35

Yes they can. But I don't understand why this is being solely blamed on mixed sex toilets.

What you are saying is that by having single sex toilets the issue will disappear - it won't. Many children still won't use the toilets and will still restrict fluids and will still get utis because many see school toilets as unsafe due to bullying. The mixed sex toilets were designed to try to eradicate that issue. Have only single sex toilets - then how will you address the issue of children getting utis? Will you ban girls from using girls toilets because some girls are stopping other girls from using the toilet? What if a child gets a UTI and dies as a result (as per your example)? Will that be the fault of girls?

TequilaPilates · 06/10/2019 10:36

And you know very well that's not the case for most schools, Tequila, so again, manipulative.

What do I know isn't the case?

Qcng · 06/10/2019 10:36

When you're female, being bullied by older girls is awful and horrid but no where near compared to being looked at over the top of cubicle, shamed, shouted at and aggressively touched by a boy.
This is like, obvious thinking 101.
Especially now we have data showing a number of girls in the UK are raped in school every day.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 06/10/2019 10:37

The article makes clear that many more girls are avoiding using the toilets because they are mixed sex as you very well know, Tequila.

This makes it exponentially more likely that UTIs will occur and increase the risk.

This is not in question.

SarahTancredi · 06/10/2019 10:38

Yes they can. But I don't understand why this is being solely blamed on mixed sex toilets

If a school is successful in tackling bullying and children were happy and safe using the toilets then they stopped using them because they became mixed sex because of privacy and dignity being removed then its entirely down to becoming mixed sex no?

wigglybeezer · 06/10/2019 10:39

DS's school has open plan unisex toilets, he won't use them due to embarrassment and is always really thirsty when he gets in from school due to restricting drinks. However, I also avoided school toilets due to them being a bully hangout, difficult problem to solve.
