"Girls are skipping school to avoid sharing gender neutral toilets with boys" - Mail on Sunday article

Great article in the Mail on Sunday today about the awful impacts on girls of being forced to share loos with boys at school. With quotes from a female GP about the health and psychological impacts of girls not having single-sex loos, Stephanie Davies-Arai from Transgender Trend, and David Davies MP

What one fact/one parent?

They had a quote from one parent at the primary school didn't they? How many other parents did they quote?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 08:19

I asked because I couldn’t see the piece. (No need to be snippy).

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 07/10/2019 08:19

Ah, talking about different toilets to the ones in the article is over now?

We’ve moved on to trying to discredit the source? Super

I’m going for my second coffee as soon as someone arrives with ‘citing the daily mail is discrediting the GC cause’

TequilaPilates · 07/10/2019 08:22

The rest was very generalised, a GP said that not going to the toilet regularly is bad for your health, but isn't a comment on this subject in particular, a quote from Trans Gender trend and then a quote from an MP.

It's not an objective article in anyway.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 08:23

How not?

TequilaPilates · 07/10/2019 08:23

In fact, would you accept the reverse?

An article with one parent of a trans gender child claiming how great this was and then accept that that means that this is a great idea based on one person's view?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 08:24

Like the mermaid woman every chance she gets?

TequilaPilates · 07/10/2019 08:26

I asked because I couldn’t see the piece. (No need to be snippy).

So yesterday I was repeatedly derided for not having read the article properly, or accused of having only skimmed it yet you haven't read it at all but have been commenting on an article that you haven't read and don't know what it says?

Ok.

OccasionalKite · 07/10/2019 08:27

Oh FFS. Women are saying a big loud NO to mixed-sex toilets.

That should be enough, in and of itself.

No. I do not consent.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 08:27

Why are you having a go at me? 2 people said the same thing so I asked what the issue was.

TequilaPilates · 07/10/2019 08:27

Like the mermaid woman every chance she gets?

Right, and it isn't accepted on here because it's just one person's view, which is what this article is. One unnamed parent (who could be made up for all we know).

I'm always suspicious of an unnamed source.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 08:29

Ok. Straw poll then:

👍 yay - mixed sex loos!
👎 no way

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 08:30

Not many ‘people in the street’ would happily put their name against the trans juggernaut. Haven’t you seen the social media attacks?

TequilaPilates · 07/10/2019 08:34

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD

It depends what you mean by mixed sex toilets doesn't it?

The type I know of 👍

Single sex re designated mixed sex 👎

The fact that you've been commenting on an article that you haven't even read just astounds me.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 08:35

Didn’t comment - I asked what you were complaining about.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 07/10/2019 09:02

tequila youve been annoyed at people having a pop at you for not reading the article

Why would you want to have a pop at lord

I haven’t read the article...but i do feel i can comment on the state of public bogs without having done so

The bogs in the article? Obviously less so Grin

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 07/10/2019 09:03

Oh get me!

All the soing

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 07/10/2019 09:33

Nice to see you being a bit clearer about your agenda Tequila. You weren’t just here to share your experience of the super great mixed sex toilets you’ve known and loved that aren’t like the ones in the article after all?

LoveGrowsWhere · 07/10/2019 09:41

Read the article and shared elsewhere. First time some of my friends have raised their heads to comment publicly on such an article. All in favour of retaining single-sex toilet provision in schools.

OldCrone · 07/10/2019 10:39

Here are some more articles about mixed sex toilets. Women's Voices Wales carried out a survey to see what parents and children really think about them.

www.walesonline.co.uk/news/education/pupils-missing-school-because-dont-15839558

www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/school-cardiff-installed-gender-neutral-13582183

www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/new-school-port-talbot-mixed-15313425

For those who can't be bothered to click on the links (yet still find time to discuss something they are therefore totally uninformed about), the overwhelming opinion is 'No'.

And I've yet to see anyone explain why, when Unicef insists that girls need single sex toilets in school in order for them to have equal access to education, some people in the UK are doing their best to remove this right from British girls.

OldCrone · 07/10/2019 10:44

There is no such thing as a transgender child. Even the TRAs are saying this now - they say that if you haven't medically transitioned, you're not trans. Children cannot legally be prescribed cross sex hormones or have surgery for transgenderism in the UK.

Sunkisses · 07/10/2019 10:51

That's great @LoveGrows. Whenever I speak up, all my mum friends agree too. If you look at the Sunday Times reader's poll on mixed sex loos it is 96% AGAINST. The public hate mixed sex loos - men and women. We are far too tolerant of the woke authoritarians who enforce this crap with their "inclusive" (i.e. excluding 99% of the population) agenda. Sorry, got caught up in family stuff yesterday and haven't been back. Sorry to see the thread being derailed by a troll.

It is a bit off how women who don't like other women very much seem to run across women's loos that look like they came right out of Trainspotting or Hostel with quite remarkable frequency.

Indeed! Hmm I'm in my 40s and have never experienced a public loo like this. Sometimes they are less than pristine, unflushed etc especially in busy areas, concerts etc.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 07/10/2019 10:56

Good to see those links OldCrone. The survey in the Times is running at 94% against mixed sex toilets. Which of course is what we know - that most people respect sex based differences and wish to maintain their own rights to privacy, dignity and safety.
It bears repeating that while toilets (and changing rooms and all unsupervised areas of schools) are places where bullying can and does occur, removing single sex toilets and making them mixed sex does nothing to stop bullying - in fact it merely adds a new layer of opportunities for bullies. Given the appalling statistics relating to rape and sexual assault of (mainly) girls in schools, removing sex segregated facilities just adds to the problem.

It's like going, oh, I see that you have a sore on your toe, why don't we fix that by cutting off your leg?
