The English Cricket Board sells out women's cricket

Women's cricket is now open to transwomen, who don't even have to reduce testosterone unless wanting to be considered for international games. For the domestic game the ECB is using the 'social model', having, of course, been advised in their decision-making by Stonewall. I don't even like cricket, but this wholesale ignoring of the Equality Act 2010 has made me furious!

Just discussed this with DH. He couldn’t believe Maxine is still playing men’s cricket too “surely you must have to pick one or the other?” Apparently not it seems....

Thanks @Sexnotgender for the advice. A bit nervous - so used to speaking my mind at work, with friends etc but not that great with inter-personal relationship effectiveness with acquaintances.
@SheWhoMustBeSilent haha. I'm lucky if I get 4 runs playing in the "ladies'" club social team given my nearly 50 yr old legs (name was really about my penchant for Danish furniture) 😂😂
@Kit19 and others.. is anyone happy/has the time to/ put together a letter condensing all of the info we've talked about into a bullet-point factual list of everything we've found. I would do it but still at the office atm.
I'd then be happy to turn that in to a nicely worded legalised letter that we can email every CC club in the UK.

Be careful how you speak out to others, midcenturylegs. You need to choose your words carefully because if you start with the fact that it’s unfair that men who identify as trans can okay against women, you maybe verbally attacked end not given the opportunity to explain further.

I find it’s best to discuss female sports, then compare speed/strength differences between female and male sports people. Put it in such a way that your merely praising the fact that we have female sports, then when you’ve talked about the physical differences such as men’s bone density, larger lung capacity, etc, you can then drop the trans issue in. Gently gently.

S1naidSucks · 20/08/2019 21:41

Ps, I’m talking about when you have discussions with friends or workmates. The letter explaining the law and the unfairness of the rule changes is different altogether.

Maxine Blythin is currently listed as a player at Chesham Cricket Club for both the Men's Second XI:

and the Women's squad: (scroll down for this one)

Un-fucking-believable.

TimeLady · 20/08/2019 21:54

Chesham is in Buckinghamshire, where presumably Bythin lives and works. Why are they playing for Kent?

FermatsTheorem · 20/08/2019 22:00

This makes me so fucking angry. Not even trying to hide the fact that they are cheating - blatantly playing for both the men's and women's teams.

S1naidSucks · 20/08/2019 22:10

Why are they playing for Kent?

They obviously identify as a Kentish maid. Hmm

LoveGrowsWhere · 20/08/2019 22:12

MidCentury presumably as you're in engineering most of your colleagues are fact-based scientists and some will be very into their sports. The odd have you seen the article about conversation linked to this weeks concussions might open a few eyes.

Voice0fReason · 20/08/2019 22:14

It makes me co cross.
Maxine has no right to be on any women's team.

Loving the comments on the article

TimeLady · 20/08/2019 22:16

Screenshots of the Chesham CC website.....just in case it's 'updated' sometime soon.

If anyone knows how to archive those pages, that might be useful.

Just looked up the definition of a 'ringer'....

Brilliant comment from the twitter feed.

"Put Archer in a dress and let "her" bowl at this individual....."

Somehow I do not think Maxine would like that at all.

FermatsTheorem · 20/08/2019 23:08

I liked that comment too, Andy.

Women can play in a 2nd 11 along with the men...we've had it at our club. We we only have Junior girls cricket and the boys can't play in that. There are separate leagues and development bodies. This transwoman has no place in senior women's cricket taking the place of a woman. The bloody team picture is a joke.

StarGOLD · 21/08/2019 00:36

The ECB allow self ID at grassroots level and only employ medical boundaries at elite level. This transwoman was put forward for a place in the Kent County team by the women's weekend team. I am assuming the teammates and club are all happy about that..but the club has a thriving men's, women's and juniors set up..why bother promoting women's cricket if you're going to let men play it...

howwudufeel · 21/08/2019 00:41

We were watching women’s cricket on TV earlier. My DS is a very decent cricketer. The quality of the cricket was great but given the difference in strength my DS said he thought he would cause them problems with his bowling. He is right. I joked that he could identify as a woman and join a women’s team. He was appalled and said surely that’s not allowed.
