Remember that grey hair is rarely attractive

5. Remember that grey hair is rarely attractive unless you have the correct combination of skin tone and eye colouring! (You suit clothes in blues, lilacs, greys and pinks and have neutral skin tone and grey/blue eyes).

Thoughts? Posting this in FWR as I know AIBU will be full of posters who wish to post that actually they do believe grey hair on women is unattractive.. like pubes, and women leaving the house without a chaperone face full of makeup.

Regardless of a person's personal beliefs on grey hair (or any colour) there is something exceptionally sexist and patronising in advising women to remember they are unattractive. Now, now ladies, lest you forget or start to feel confident in your hair colour, you are probably unattractive.

Also, I've known lots of beautiful black women with grey hair btw but not a single one with blue eyes though.. so not sure if this brand counts them or not. Hmm

Know I seem overly invested but it's local business with lovely people + getting your name stolen is awful.

TheGraysAreComing · 12/08/2019 20:07

Um Actually according to Daniel Field's post here, that is his website. Another poster on thread also mentions that she spoke with his salon and was pointed to the one in OP as the correct website. I had seen that before I went to the website as was looking for hair colour recommendations on MN.

You may well be posting the address for the imposter company if that hasn't been sorted out.

TheGraysAreComing · 12/08/2019 20:09

@DanielFieldDirect oh and fair play. That was a good response. I may well take up the product that was in my basket (received an email from your company asking why I hadn't completed my purchase) next month.

I did, unfortunately, buy hair dye elsewhere as I really do not support sexism in advertising.

peoplearepeople · 12/08/2019 20:16

Fraggling. - I'm pretty sure that the original address posted here (danielfieldmailorder) is the correct one for Daniel Field. If I remember correctly the fake one was this one here that Daniel had issues with. www.simply-haircare.co.uk/template/catalog/index.php/daniel-field-watercolour-c-47?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI46-FgoX-4wIVhLHtCh1qrQwYEAAYAiAAEgLDOPD_BwE
I used to buy regularly from both sites years ago until I found out about the fraudulent one. I had an email from them a while ago saying that they were now officially allowed to sell Daniel's products, but they still seem rather fishy to me.

Fraggling · 12/08/2019 20:28

Oh lol

Fraggling · 12/08/2019 20:39

Seriously?

Wow.

I mean it's local to to me and of course I care. Daniels salon is great and has been for at least 25 years.

Wtf with people randomly popping up to say woooah you're dodgy

Bizarre

Everyone local knows

  1. Daniel salon super
  2. Daniel products fab
  3. Daniel involved in awful court battle for years over his own name
  4. Daniel walks away?

This is local for me and we stick together.

Hi Fraggling,

Sorry not to have responded directly to your query re: ownership in more detail in my initial reply. I felt that the old issues around the name weren’t really the topic of the thread, and didn’t want to hijack it, thus hoped that a simple re-assurance would suffice.

You are absolutely right that until a few years ago there was an on-going dispute about the use of Daniel’s name. However Daniel Field Direct has always been part-owned by Daniel, and we were working alongside him to help resolve the dispute which was with a third party.

I’m happy to report that matters were resolved back in 2015. Whist we remain the main distributor for Daniel, there are now about half a dozen websites selling his products online (including, as you note, the salons own .net website, which only began selling online recently). As far as we are aware, all sell the genuine products from Daniel Field.

I hope this helps to clarify things, but you could always phone the salon or call in if you would like to check with them.

Best wishes,
Nick

I'm really glad to hear that the issues were resolved, thank you for answering that nick.

I know it was a big issue for a long time so I'm sure you understand me wanting to see what the situation was and support Daniel if things were still awry.

Anyone in striking distance of north London/ herts area, I'd highly recommend the salon.
