This kind of crap is why I opted for homebirths

I strongly advocate for a woman to be able to exercise her right to female only care if she wants it.

My strong preference is for female only care, personally.

It worries me that if a high number of male midwives enter the profession, then this may affect that choice being available for women.

RosesAndRaindrops · 16/07/2019 18:27

But y'know. Keep reading what you want to read

Exactly, I'll never understand extreme view tunnel vision, rigid thinking, even when it's literally in front of your face Confused
They'll obviously only see what they want to see I guess.

I would say that saying men can't be midwives (but male consultants are accepted) was sexist!

I don't want male consultants either, for me.

Men can be midwives, they just can't force themselves in women who don't want them or coerce women or be raped by saying women who prefer women are sexist

Or be rapey

OP posts:
Aaarrgghhh · 16/07/2019 18:29

What the fuck is rapey? You are either raped by a rapist or you are not. It’s black and white. You can be raped or not raped, you can’t be rapey..

sakura184 · 16/07/2019 18:29

This mothers are sexist argument is so rapey

OP posts:
RosesAndRaindrops · 16/07/2019 18:30

Back to not even making the remotest bit of sense now.

Aaarrgghhh · 16/07/2019 18:32

What? Lol. For real? What “mothers are sexist” argument are you talking about? How can someone be rapey? It’s not even a word.. you can rape (if you’re a man) but rapey? Describe what that is please.

ZebrasAreBras · 16/07/2019 18:36

You never heard "rapey" before? Blimey, you must be new here.

GrammarTeacher · 16/07/2019 18:46

I wouldn't expect people who claimed to be strongly for the rights of women to indulge in slang language which minimises rape. Disgusting

RosesAndRaindrops · 16/07/2019 18:49

Exactly.
Sick.

Aaarrgghhh · 16/07/2019 18:53

Sorry, the word rape is powerful enough and I don’t need any cutesy names for it. Some lunacy out there. You cannot be rapey, you either rape or you do not. By saying rapey you are accusing someone of an act they haven’t committed. Which is wrong. It’s women like the two(?) on this thread that gives feminism the man hating tag.

ZebrasAreBras · 16/07/2019 18:57

Oh FFS. The term "rapey" does not minimise rape. Any more than the term "rape culture" does.

Both describe situations/cultures that belittle or undermine a woman's right to bodily autonomy and consent.

When feminists described Robin Thicke's song Blurred Lines as "rapey" - it was because it was exactly that.

RosesAndRaindrops · 16/07/2019 18:58

It’s women like the two
Seems to be only two thankfully

RosesAndRaindrops · 16/07/2019 19:01

Oh FFS. The term "rapey" does not minimise rape

If you say so. Would you go say that on the relationships board to someone if they said their boyfriend had used the word around them?

ZebrasAreBras · 16/07/2019 19:02

We're onto the "feminists are all manhaters" now are we? Gosh. Well, I've never seen that argument on here before Shock

RosesAndRaindrops · 16/07/2019 19:03

We're onto the "feminists are all manhaters" now are we

You seem to be having yet another comprehension fail.

sakura184 · 16/07/2019 19:05

Like transwomen are rapey when they say lesbians have to have sex with their female penis or the lesbians are transphobic

OP posts:
ZebrasAreBras · 16/07/2019 19:08

Like men who tell rape jokes are rapey.

RosesAndRaindrops · 16/07/2019 19:09

Two peas in a pod.
Making a lot more sense now why you can't see what people are saying or what's in front of your face.

Ereshkigal · 16/07/2019 19:11

The slang term "rapey" means sexually coercive. Which can mean that either direct sexual assault/harassment is being committed by a person, or it is indirect, such as social pressure or policies which force women into sexually humiliating or personally violating circumstances. It's perfectly valid in this context.

"Rape culture" a well known feminist term, is more or less the same thing as how the word "rapey" is being expressed here.

ZebrasAreBras · 16/07/2019 19:14

Ereshkigel Wine

Datun · 16/07/2019 19:20

Rapey is a well-known, valid feminist term. I'm surprised there are people here who don't realise that.

sakura184 · 16/07/2019 19:22

Like men who tell rape jokes are rapey.

Oh those ones are so rapey

OP posts:
sakura184 · 16/07/2019 19:25

Anyway, I think men who want to coerce women into receiving intimate care from them, by getting women to "understand" that their preferences for a woman are sexist, is very very rapey
