This kind of crap is why I opted for homebirths

Women were called "paranoid" for it though.

Plus, the woman in the OP was treated incredibly badly for asking for it.
A woman being badly treated, and pressurised into an examination by a male midwife IS the whole reason for the post. It happened.

You'd think there wouldn't be such a massive thread going nearly 600 posts if we are all in agreement.

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 23:23

I and someone else said to say women should all be separated from men as they are all perceived to be a danger is no way to live and not healthy.

why did you say that and talk about what's healthy in a discussion about women who do not want male caregivers?

OP posts:
hazeyjane · 15/07/2019 23:29

The comment you refer to has been taken out of a big ol chunk of context! It was made after comments such as It's true that I don't think men should be in the field and I do suspect their motives
The same poster also said women should always have the right to be seen by a female if they want. Always. ....

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 23:31

@hazeyjane

why are women being shamed into accepting men they don't want in birth by being told they're not healthy, paranoid, "it's no way to live".

Just accept that women have the right not to have men near them in birth

OP posts:
RosesAndRaindrops · 15/07/2019 23:32

You are conflating two issues - NOBODY has said that you don't have the right to have somebody female.
No-one at all. They have said the exact opposite. You should have the CHOICE.
You though, wanted to take choice away from OTHER women and how is that on?
It should be CHOICE.
You're re-writing.
People really need to read the thread to see what's going on here.

RosesAndRaindrops · 15/07/2019 23:33

I don't know what part of it you don't understand, but NOBODY has said you should be shamed into accepting men.
Not a one. You do not get to twist it around.
Every one of us has said that there should be a choice and it is absolutely your right to have a female.

ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 23:36

What happened to the woman in the OP then? She was shamed and then punished for not accepting the male midwife examining her cervix. But you chose to see the article as "biased" as I recall.

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 23:36

No I assumed all women preferred female caregivers and when women came on here and said they prefer men I said okay that's fine , you can have men, I really don't care, but I don't want a man anywhere near me. Then I had to drag up the bathroom argument to justify that. Because people would not accept it

OP posts:
RosesAndRaindrops · 15/07/2019 23:38

I do accept that. I always have said it's choice. You of course have that right.
YOU accept as well though that I and others should have a choice too which if you got your original way before you watered it down slightly after being disagreed with we wouldn't have.

ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 23:39

I assume most women prefer female caregivers - I know whenever I say that on here, someone always comes on and says "well I wouldn't, I don't care!" but I've never met a woman who wouldn't have a preference for a female nurse examining their cervix.

After seeing some of the stuff that passes for fetish porn, and some of the stuff that is for sale on LoveHoney etc, I would advise all women to always ask for a female.

RosesAndRaindrops · 15/07/2019 23:40

No I assumed all women preferred female caregivers and when women came on here and said they prefer men I said okay that's fine , you can have men, I really don't care

You said they shouldn't be there at all.
You only changed it to what you just said in this quoted bit after people disagreed.
You still haven't explained how if we prefer men OK that's fine, but if they're not there at all as they're not allowed to be around women, how are we supposed to state a preference or make a choice?

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 23:42

@RosesAndRaindrops

I truly do not care if you want a man in birth. I didn't realize some women preferred men when I started the post. When this was pointed out to me... great... have men.

Stop shaming women who don't. Don't call me paranoid. Don't say I'm unhealthy. And don't say it's no way to live:

And yes I'm still entitled to my opinion that men have dodgy reasons for entering this field

OP posts:
ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 23:42

So what, Roses? She says she's changed her mind now. She's allowed to. You could call it a win. Sakura now supports women who want male HCPs. Hurrah!

I read somewhere about medical porn. That some men get off on the idea of women in a medical setting. Imagine if your male doctor was one of these men

OP posts:
ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 23:44

Hey, I imagine a guy who is into this sort of fetish stuff might be drawn to certain careers which involve examining women's cervixes?

^That link comes with a trigger warning.

Aaarrgghhh · 15/07/2019 23:44

The way people have come on here arguing that women shouldn't request a female midwife or consultant says a lot

Literally no one has said that.

RosesAndRaindrops · 15/07/2019 23:45

Come again? Not getting your logic. Because they're men they might be into fetish porn so always ask for a female?
What are you actually talking about sorry?
We have no way of knowing what females are into sexually either and why would we even care about their personal life or lack of?
We're talking about PEOPLE.
They're not all the same, and I'm sorry but to me it's bonkers to stay away from every single man because they might or might not be into fetish porn!

RosesAndRaindrops · 15/07/2019 23:46

^That link comes with a trigger warning.

Well I'm not about to click on it anytime soon.
Seriously, what the hell is going on in this place lately?

ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 23:47

I mean, it's not beyond the realms of possibility, is it?

Plenty of men have been caught out exercising their fetishes (or worse, actually offending) at work.

See NSPCC rubber guy for an example. Or certain Catholic Priests.

RosesAndRaindrops · 15/07/2019 23:47

THIS is what me and others were saying isn't a healthy way to live.
NOT your right to have a female which you should always have the right to.

ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 23:48

Seriously, what the hell is going on in this place lately?

It's chock full of feminists who value women's bodily autonomy, and who understand the lengths some men will go to, to access vulnerable women.

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 23:48

I also read just today actually that you can hire pregnant women in brothels, even for a gang bang. Imagine if your male ob/gyn was actually doing this in his private time

OP posts:
RosesAndRaindrops · 15/07/2019 23:50

Thanks for the examples given though, as it's given me a chance to clarify exactly what we meant by not healthy.
Before you tried to twist it to being about your right to a female which it was never about. We always said that was your choice.

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 23:50

God yes, speculums are a porn fetish too. I remember that pornographer psycho in America Max Hardcore, I read an article about him forcing women to have speculum examinations in his porn

OP posts:
sakura184 · 15/07/2019 23:52

I mean a doctor who had a fetish for giving internal examinations doesn't even have to watch porn does he, he can just do it, and get paid for it
