Ereshkigal

Howling with laughter here!

Datun · 12/07/2019 19:06

Neither do any of you get to make a decision on behalf of all women.

Oh dear lord. You still don't get it, do you?

No trumps yes. Every. Single. Time.

My consent is not in your gift.

Who do you think you are? 🤣

PetrolBastard · 12/07/2019 19:07

Are you in every single toilet? What are you, omnipresent?

TheInebriati · 12/07/2019 19:08

Are you Mhairi Black? I hope not. A politician should really understand things like why we don't put prisoners in with people who are the demographic of their victim, for example.

JackyHolyoake · 12/07/2019 19:09

Neither do any of you get to make a decision on behalf of all women.

Indeed .. I just make sure that as many women and girls are aware of their legal rights in the face of men who work to subvert those rights.

UK law has decided what are the rights of females in the face of males who work to subvert such rights.

See Gender Recognition Act 2004:

See Equality Act 2010:

That's the thing about consent. I get to say I don't consent to the violation of my privacy and dignity. You don't have the right to violate it.

Justhadathought · 12/07/2019 19:11

I'm not sure why people are 'engaging' with petrolhead. They are not a real person; just an automated troll account.

I guess the only benefit of such 'engagement' comes from the space it permits to clarify one's own thought processes - against the brick wall of non responsiveness.

JackyHolyoake · 12/07/2019 19:11

We are drawing out this person, Datun ... the abuse is becoming more transparent ...

PetrolBastard · 12/07/2019 19:14

Grin Grin

Oh God, now I'm a computer! Hahaha

You guys are killing me.

This is absolute gold. Please please prove that I'm a computer. That would literally make my year.

Datun · 12/07/2019 19:22

You're just a common or garden misogynist. They're everywhere.

JackyHolyoake · 12/07/2019 19:23

Whatever Petrol is or is not, UK civil law rejects Petrol's position, which is that men can enter women's spaces / services etc willy-nilly.

UK civil law confers no such right and explicitly rejects this.

PurpleCrowbar · 12/07/2019 19:23

Are you still worried about that poor desperate translady in the pub, or have you given up on them now that it's been clearly demonstrated that they don't have a right to tinkle in the Ladies, Petrol?

I reckon we should be supporting transpeople to campaign for suitable facilities they can use.

Only you seem quite diverted now by playing the 'oooh am I bot? Or just a random troll?' game...

PetrolBastard · 12/07/2019 19:24

There's no law against having a wee in the women's toilets.

PetrolBastard · 12/07/2019 19:26

But yes, it is certainly interesting to see a demonstration of the kind of paranoid thinking that drives this thinking. It's like arguing with anti-vaxxers.

JackyHolyoake · 12/07/2019 19:27

And, personally, I have no care for what Petrol is or is not.

My intent is to educate every new and existing female UK user of Mumsnet of her rights in UK Civil law with regard to the interaction of the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and the Equality Act 2010.

So, thanks Petrol, for yet another opportunity so to do.

PurpleCrowbar · 12/07/2019 19:29

But the person operating/providing said women's toilets has a perfect right & indeed responsibility to their women customers/service users, to tell you you can't, if you aren't a woman.

If they choose to provide unisex facilities, that's a different matter - albeit one which could probably still be challenged by users demanding single sex facilities?

PurpleCrowbar · 12/07/2019 19:31

That's a generic 'you' btw, Petrol - I agree with pp that whether you personally are a woman/man/bot is irrelevant.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 12/07/2019 19:31

And my tshirt says I'm also a woman

I'm sorry you received the wrong t-shirt. Were the cactus ones sold out and they just sent you a random replacement?

PetrolBastard · 12/07/2019 19:31

I've already said that the landowner can ask you to leave if they choose to. But you can't call the police to have someone kicked out if you feel like it. Because that person hasn't committed a crime because being in the women's toilet is not a criminal offence.

PetrolBastard · 12/07/2019 19:34

Insults are almost as good as a well thought out constructive argument, aren't they?

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 12/07/2019 19:35

How would you know?

JackyHolyoake · 12/07/2019 19:36

If they choose to provide unisex facilities, that's a different matter - albeit one which could probably still be challenged by users demanding single sex facilities?

Indeed. Such a position leaves any proprietor / manager open to a claim of sex discrimination unless both of what were previously the men's and the women's toilets or other facilities are rendered mixed sex.

Beyond that, if staff of such premises are also required to use such facilities there could be a breach of the The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992: regulation 20:

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1992/3004/regulation/20/made
