This short film with Mhairi reading out (mostly respectful) comments from women is really sad. I have always admired her but like many politicians she is unable to comprehend the issues women are raising. She says there is no evidence or legitimacy in our concerns. Oh well.

Some of the biggest misogynists are the female ‘allies’. They outright deny that there is any such thing as female oppression and gladly throw women under the bus. See Sally Hines saying that GC feminists were old, ugly and ‘not fun’.

Apollo440 · 01/09/2019 12:52

Oh so the whole thing about allowing men into women's toilets etc is so that actual women don't accidentally get called men. You have to wonder at the somersaults their brains must have to do to come up with this crap. And then to repeat it out loud without triggering any critical faculty.

Fraggling · 01/09/2019 13:11

She looks nothing like a man.

That is clearly bollocks.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 01/09/2019 13:25

' “People absolutely need to have the opportunity to discuss this, but the most important thing is to have compassion and be able to listen.

“I’ve tried really hard but it becomes impossible to have a sensible debate sometimes without people becoming hysterical, who are clearly anti-trans. '

So, [women] need to be able to discuss this but it's more important that we shut up and listen, and if we say anything/disagree with the party line we are 'hysterical'. Okay, not age-old misogynystic tropes in use at all, then.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 01/09/2019 13:28

We're all just venomous harridans, really, aren't we? [1:36]

testing987654321 · 01/09/2019 13:32

Right, so any man who wants to can come into the ladies because otherwise occasionally a woman will get challenged incorrectly?

I am not quite managing to follow her logic.

TheBigBallOfOil · 01/09/2019 13:32

I thought she was awful from the get go. Rude, arrogant, stupid.

littlbrowndog · 01/09/2019 14:29

No logic or brain used by M Black

Wokie wokie looking for the men to support her

Gives no fucks about women

BeMoreMagdalen · 01/09/2019 15:14

If Mhairi Black has ever been challenged as a possible man in the ladies loo, I'm a fucking haggis.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 01/09/2019 15:20

When so many male looking male transpeople claim to use women's toilets unchallenged, it's strange that a female looking female person is.

Even if she has been challenged, why blame women? Its male people demanding use the female toilets that's caused the problem, not women for speaking up.

MargueritaBlue · 01/09/2019 15:25

I've complained to Murrell

07/07/2019 21:44LassOfFyvie

My complaint made no reference to trans issues or women's rights

I focused on the hypocrisy of Black complaining about this word being used to her but then having so little respect for other women that she uses it against them. And the utter lack of respect for a fellow MP

Answer came there none.

I find it really hard to believe that Mhairi Black has been challenged "several times" - she doesn't look like man at all

Agreed.

Ringdonna · 01/09/2019 17:24

She is getting ready for the new GRA next year.

Evenquieterlife33 · 01/09/2019 20:09

Two short planks with a platform.

Tyrotoxicity · 01/09/2019 20:14

Misgendering only becomes a big deal if you are insecure about your gender identity

That's not quite true though, is it?

Misgendering's a pretty big deal for men whether they've got gender identity issues or not. Because they routinely misgender one another in order to insult, denigrate and belittle one another.

With that realisation in mind, I can see why male-socialised trans-identified people are so often bafflingly wedded to the idea that being called a man is an insult.

transtrendy · 01/09/2019 22:55

I think Mhairi Black is both an excellent feminist and politician.

A true powerful, strong, independant woman that is an inspiration and role model for a great many women.

BazzleJet · 01/09/2019 23:02

I read your post as a great manly woman Hmm

BazzleJet · 01/09/2019 23:04

I just wish she looked out and advocated for similar women to herself

transtrendy · 01/09/2019 23:05

She is a wonderful woman and a role model for all types of women. :)

zebrasdontwearbras · 01/09/2019 23:08

Feminism includes all types of women, but it doesn't include males. Mhairi's not a great feminist because she's prioritising males. Smile

transtrendy · 01/09/2019 23:11

well, you're welcome to your opinion Zebs, I disagree, so does Mhairi. 2-1 thumbs-nose

zebrasdontwearbras · 01/09/2019 23:15

Really? I'm welcome to that opinion? Cool - Mhairi says I'm a cunt for that opinion. Perhaps you could mention to her I'm welcome to my opinion that males cannot be women.

transtrendy · 01/09/2019 23:22

Here ya go Franny....

Mhairi is a role model.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/09/2019 23:24

Absolutely.
