WTF Times: 'schoolboys die in cliff fall'

How about: schoolboys AND THEIR MOTHER are brutally murdered by violent man?

I am so sick of the way this stuff is reported. If murdering your family is a valid response to 'not being able to see a way forward' then why aren't people doing it all the time?

Fucking Hell, that makes it read like they were out for a stroll, and the sympathy angle is completely directed towards the father, 'poor chap, what a shame' and 'oh look, the mother just happened to die from multiple stab wounds, never mind, poor chap, must have been difficult'

Lamaha · 09/05/2019 07:01

Link?

SnuggyBuggy · 09/05/2019 07:03

I too assumed some sort of walking accident from that

IStillMissBlockbuster · 09/05/2019 07:03

The link is in the OP Lamaha.

WTF is wrong with the media?? It's fucking disgusting!!

LizzieSiddal · 09/05/2019 07:05

Fucking Hell!!!

Huge apologies but my memory is terrible but wasn’t there a recent agreement that domestic violence would not be referred to like this, by the media. Was it that wonderful woman Karen I (forgotten her surname!) who speaks out about domestic violence instrumental in getting this agreement.

leafinthewind · 09/05/2019 07:06

What the fuck?! How, just HOW, is that the headline?

LizzieSiddal · 09/05/2019 07:07

And no mention in the headline of the fact the father had brutally murdered his wife!

crumpet · 09/05/2019 07:11

Is that really the case? I had no idea - I saw the headline but didn’t read, and assumed they had had a fatal accident, not that that it was murder

bigbadbadger · 09/05/2019 07:11

He brutally murdered his wife and children. He was a monster. How dare they?

zsazsajuju · 09/05/2019 07:12

That’s a disgrace. Headline should read “man murders wife and sons”

Nottheduchess · 09/05/2019 07:13

That’s disgusting, who on earth wrote that and thought it was a suitable headline!!

BrainScience · 09/05/2019 07:13

Jesus fucking Christ I despair.

Upzadaizy · 09/05/2019 07:15

Karen Ingala Smith.

I imagine her Twitter feed will have further information.

Upzadaizy · 09/05/2019 07:15

Sorry that was in answer to @LizzieSiddal

LizzieSiddal · 09/05/2019 07:17

Thank you Upzadaizy! I’ll have a look at her Twitter.

IDrinkAndISewThings · 09/05/2019 07:20

That's horrendous! I get that they don't want a sensationalist headline a la The Sun, but that headline reads as though the stumbled and fell on a family walk, and the murder of the wife being completely ignored is just bizarre. "Father kills family and self after crisis of faith" would have been more apt.

3dogs2cats · 09/05/2019 07:21

This is dreadful.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 09/05/2019 07:21

She's not even fucking mentioned until the third paragraph!

Grimbles · 09/05/2019 07:21

Maybe she just fell onto the knife multiple times Hmm

AttilaTheMeerkat · 09/05/2019 07:21

No mention of the words "family annihilator" either in that poorly written article, that is what he became.

Tragically too this will happen to another family.

Outanabout · 09/05/2019 07:23

No, 'father kills wife and children when he fears losing control' would be more apt.

Hatemadeupwords · 09/05/2019 07:24

He drugged the boys and made them walk up to beachy head, then the coroner has the audacity to say it's 'not clear if they jumped, fell or were pushed' wtaf?????

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 09/05/2019 07:34

What the actual fuck?! I can't believe how casually they throw in the line about the mother's fate. Oh yeah, she was brutally murdered, stabbed 60 times... they may as well have made it a footnote and been done with it. The poor woman, those poor children. I'm so sick of the shit way some 'journalists' report things like this as if it's the father who's the biggest victim. He's a family annihilator but somehow the sympathy lies with him?
Bollocks.

CountFosco · 09/05/2019 07:35

It's so bizarre this sideways reporting of violence against women. Do the writers not realise how back to front it is.

thelastgoldeneagle · 09/05/2019 07:36

Have just tweeted the journalist. What bizarre reporting.

'This is a terribly sad case and I think DS Flynn put it very well when he said that Adelino simply could not see a way forward,” Mr Cummings said.'

Who gives a flying fuck about how the murdering bastard felt? Why not focus on his wife and kids? If he felt that suicidal he could have killed himself and left his family.
