Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

In general, what do you feel about The LGBT Foundation using a 'gender fluid' person to promote lesbian visibility day?

No links. No judgement of any one perticular person.

Just a discussion about the GENERAL situation as my original post was removed for not being in the spirit

Yet another lesbian deletion.

Am really getting fucking sick if this.

Why is it okay for people - who have largely lived and experienced life as male, benefited from the privilege of being male and never had to deal with what girls and women do growing up - to define what being a woman is and. I get that they feel they are women, so be humble and respect the experience that we have as women instead of trying to dominate womanhood, erase our lived experiences and associations of womanhood, and rewrite our history. Maybe learn from us instead of riding roughshod over us, with this 'like it or lump it transphobe' attitude.

DpWm · 26/04/2019 23:13

If this person really is a 'lesbian' in the way they believe the word lesbian to mean, then surely this person will also be attracted to XY people fully endowed, who identify as lesbians, too.

Or, let me guess, this person is attracted to women. As in, they do actually know the difference between males and females and understand same-sex and opposite sex attraction... Amiright...

Prequelle
I get that they feel they are women
They don't though because that's impossible. They feel something, sure, but it isn't a woman.

MrsJamin · 26/04/2019 23:22

It's astounding how many men have insisted that they are included in lesbianism where by very definition they are and should be excluded. I cannot understand why others cannot see this. The emporer has no clothes, for petes sake.

Prequelle · 26/04/2019 23:25

That's why I said 'they feel they are women'

If women can't tell someone what being a woman feels like then I'm damn sure a man cant. But oh it's all about feeling fragile and small and giggly. Maybe throw a bit of sassy in there. All the ridiculous stereotypes we wanted to throw off but they're reinforcing again

Charley50 · 26/04/2019 23:35

I'm with you OP and with all actual women ❤️

Absolutepowercorrupts · 27/04/2019 00:03

I think the original thread was deleted because the person on the poster was clearly identified, as in, the actual meaning of the word. Not pixelated or obscured so identifiable. Or outing, so possibly not in the spirit.
This whole shitshow is going to get worse before it gets better.
Men are riding roughshod over women's boundaries.
Stonewall has truly become the most homophobic institution of our time. When you think of the reasons that movement started, I'll bet the founders would be weeping at what is being done to Lesbian women. It's a fucking disgrace.

birdsdestiny · 27/04/2019 00:22

Yes but read stonewalls twitter feed, the whole fucking thing is breaking down. I honestly don't see how an organisation with that much dissent for anyone to see, can survive. Imagine going on the wwf twitter, for example, and seeing lots of people saying you bastards you hate animals you do. Its unsustainable surely.

ILuvBirdsEye · 27/04/2019 00:34

It's so stupid. I don't know how anyone can claim to believe this.

If it wasn't so horrible, it would be hilarious. No idea how people can believe this. I think they must hate lesbians and women a lot as a starting point.

Yes.

language hasn’t really evolved enough to explain fully who I am

Wow Grin

maslinpan · 27/04/2019 13:50

I think we could probably help to fully explain who you are. "Navel-gazing and self-important bore" rolls off the tongue quite nicely, in my opinion.

Mumfun · 27/04/2019 13:52

Sorry Chris. It is really shit. Think it was Kathleen Stock mentioning on Twitter going on lesbian dating, to lesbian events etc and always being faced by lots of transwomen. Just horrible to have everything over run by non lesbians

It is about male sexual fetish for lesbians. And many males fear and hate of women too as they want to control them.

Think it will get worse for a while. But again the general public will see through this shit.

And I think we should keep pushing the so called lesbian TW to confirm they will happily date similarly endowed TW. The rejection will be really telling

LangCleg · 27/04/2019 13:59

Yes it has, mate. Here you go: malignant narcissist.

HTH!

AlwaysComingHome · 27/04/2019 14:04

Wasn’t the original Pomo position that language is everything - that there is ‘nothing outside the text’ (Derrida: ‘il n'y a pas de hors-texte’)?

Language determines reality but somehow language hasn’t yet caught up with this person?

Michelleoftheresistance · 27/04/2019 14:15

Wasn’t the original Pomo position that language is everything

And yet it so often fails to use language with any kind of clarity, in terms comprehensible to the layman, to see the point of shared meaning, or to be about actual communication. Often it's little more than self indulgent wanking and tossing about of buzzphrases, in the style of that smug prat in the office who exhorts you to diarise and to unify your bluesky thinking while tasting the strawberry of the heart of the mission.

Cheekyfeckery · 27/04/2019 14:21

Diva - which I thought was a magazine aimed at Lesbians - had a gay man (MB) in its list of influential lesbians in its celebration of Lesbians.

Even if by some intersectional, inclusive stretch of the imagination, MB still isn’t into women.

And actively hates lesbians.

Fucking mental. All of it.

TheCuriousMonkey · 27/04/2019 16:14

feckery, they also had Paris Lees and India Willoughby in that list. Both also attracted to men afaik.

Cheekyfeckery · 27/04/2019 16:47

Makes my piss boil.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 27/04/2019 16:49

Gender isn’t sex. There you have it.

ScottishDoll · 27/04/2019 17:03

Men appropriating lesbianism.
Men appropriating feminism.
Men appropriating women's spaces.
Men appropriating women's groups.
Men appropriating women's language.
Men appropriating.

That's all I see in all of this. Just straight up theft.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 27/04/2019 17:06

Wish they could bloody well appropriate the menopause. They can have it in my opinion. And period pains, PMT...

BuzzPeakWankBobbly · 27/04/2019 17:08

Yet again, "gender fluid" seems to = "masculine". Why is that?
