Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

In general, what do you feel about The LGBT Foundation using a 'gender fluid' person to promote lesbian visibility day?

No links. No judgement of any one perticular person.

Just a discussion about the GENERAL situation as my original post was removed for not being in the spirit

Yet another lesbian deletion.

Am really getting fucking sick if this.

OP posts:
littlbrowndog · 26/04/2019 21:35

The6 must all be coked up to explain this shite

littlbrowndog · 26/04/2019 21:36

It is anyoldprion.

Fucking disgrace

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 26/04/2019 21:40

Apologies for any confusion duchess I totally agree with you, and the OP! I didn't mean that what you actually posted was bollocks, rather the whole situation as a whole (summed up nicely by your post) is bollocks.

Sorry if I worded my post badly. The level of obfuscation and erasure around this infuriates me so much (and I'm not a lesbian, but I'm a woman and I know what a woman is). It makes me inarticulate, apologies.

Genderfreelass · 26/04/2019 21:44

I'm with you OP a lesbian is a female attracted to other females, it is a SEXual orientation not gender orientation.

CharlieParley · 26/04/2019 21:49

GrumpyGran8 and the biological sex of the person in the photo was indeterminate.

Had this been the case, if would have been less of an insult to female homosexuals. As it was, they chose to centre someone who was obviously neither female nor, therefore, homosexual.

As "woman" is merely the signifier for adult human female, it matters not one bit whether a woman identifies as trans, non-binary, agender, gender fluid or a fucking unicorn. If she is exclusively attracted to other females, she is a female homosexual aka a lesbian.

It's a SEXual orientation, not a GENDERal orientation.

Like another PP I'm beginning to truly understand the importance of and the threat to the patriarchy inherent in political lesbianism.

This lesbian erasure is hateful and unacceptable and so blatantly public I find it hard not to despair and I am straight! Cannot even begin to imagine what this must feel like for lesbians (the cunty type who love other cunty types).

Samoture · 26/04/2019 21:59

I look forward to one of the Mumsnet genderfree community being the representative of Trans Day of Visibility.

At least the genderfree actually fit the description they claim to fit!

SimplyMonstrous · 26/04/2019 22:05

We have all fallen down the rabbit hole 🤨

I think lesbianism is eroticised by men, and therefore sadly, it’s being particularly plundered for masculinist kicks. Not sure if I’m allowed to say that or not 😕

💐 for you OP and 🍷
The deeper irony I guess is that the fantasy they are getting off on is female lesbians, not the ladydick kind. Stay strong OP 😊 Everyone knows exactly what a lesbian really is x

MsMcWibble · 26/04/2019 22:12

My aunt spent her whole life hiding who she was. She was born in 1918.
Absolutely disgusted that we cannot say what a lesbian is in 2019.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/04/2019 22:12

I'm not a lesbian (I know this because I have a vagina and I am solely into penis).

Lesbians are women who love women - it's as simple as that. A male cannot become a woman however they identify. A male cannot be a lesbian.

Homo and heterosexuality are exclusionary. Get over it.

New Stonewall slogan?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 26/04/2019 22:14

What the alphabet soup lot are doing to lesbians gives me the rage. It used to be that lesbians got hassle from het people. Now fucking Stonewall are bullying them. They're told they're bigots by their own community. It must really hurt. Angry

I saw umpteen carefully curated selfies of men who identify as lesbians claiming the day for themselves on Twitter today. Are they totally unaware how invasive, how appropriative they are? Maddening.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/04/2019 22:19

The person representing lesbians on lesbian visibility day should be a female human that has sex exclusively with other female humans

The end

Absolutepowercorrupts · 26/04/2019 22:23

Well said Rufus

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/04/2019 22:29

Thank absolute i have attempted to cover the waterfront with that sentence

Was a whole lot easier when i could just say a 'woman who shags women'

Prequelle · 26/04/2019 22:31

Isn't it interesting just how many 'trans women' are lesbians.

Prequelle · 26/04/2019 22:32

Sorry, that should say 'lesbians' not lesbians. Because they're not lesbians.

terfsandwich · 26/04/2019 22:33

Any man who calls himself a lesbian shows no respect for women's right to single sex spaces and single sex communities.
I will never respect these men.

Prequelle · 26/04/2019 22:33

Also if this person is gender fluid, does that mean that on some days they're also a gay man? Are they going to put themselves forward as the figurehead for that too? Anything for attention right

newtlover · 26/04/2019 22:34

so glad I don't do twitter

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/04/2019 22:35

It is isnt it prequelle

Used to be a name for the sexuality of people with a penis who enjoyed sexual relationships with people with a vagina

What was it now...its on the tip of my tongue

Prequelle · 26/04/2019 22:38

Can't possibly think what you mean rufus Wink

It's also interesting that women who become 'trans men' largely stay quiet and just get on with it. Whereas men who think they are women still have the ingrained need for power and domination over women. Going so far as to think they get to define what being a woman, lesbian etc is.

BettyDuMonde · 26/04/2019 22:39

A lesbian is a homosexual human female.

We see you! In the good sense of the phrase Flowers

2BthatUnnoticed · 26/04/2019 22:46

HQ I’m pretty disappointed by this deletion. Speaking about female homosexuality is not hate speech.

These days there are constant attacks on lesbians - silencing, gas-lighting and “transwomen are more oppressed than you.” GNC women, including lesbians, have one of the worst suicide stats.

In the spirit of supporting other women and mums (ie please don’t delete this) - for everyone’s mental health, if you have not done so yet join reddit / gender critical.

You are allowed to speak about homosexuality there.

OrchidInTheSun · 26/04/2019 22:54

It's not hate speech to say that a man cannot be a lesbian. Men can't change sex and lesbians are women who have sex with other women of the same sex. That excludes queer, non binary, gender fluid, trans or bog standard people born with penises.

It's just bizarre that we can't say that someone who is clearly visibly male cannot and will never be a lesbian. Is that why the first thread got deleted?

S1naidSucks · 26/04/2019 22:54

I’m a heterosexual female, that was very happily married to a wonderful man and I’m so sorry that lesbians are being bullied, harassed, gaslighted and bullied into having sex with those people with penises, or risk being called bigots, transphobes, etc.

As a actual woman with all the same sexual organs as you, other women, the nearest I can relate to your distress is the thought that I may be in a vulnerable medical situation and ask for female only medical staff (I do this because MEN have sexually assaulted and abused me in the past) I may then have a person of the sex that is born with and retains their penis for sexual pleasure, arrive to treat me and expect to be included when I asked for a woman. They may claim all they like that that they are none men (I refuse to use the term that is for those people with FEMALE sexual organs to describe those with a penis) as I don’t see them as such and would feel under threat. The very thought revolts me and angers me in equal measures.

I’m so sorry for you, my lovely lesbian sisters, aunts, mothers, daughters and friends. I hope there is some comfort for you that we, the heterosexual females know what REAL lesbian women are and we support you. 💐

TheCuriousMonkey · 26/04/2019 23:00

"in general' I think it's absolutely shocking that Lesbian Day of Visibility is being represented by someone with xy chromosomes.

And "in general" I am deeply disappointed that your original thread was deleted.
