Apparently telling women to 'die in a grease fire' is hate speech. Who knew?

Have a great weekend everyone!!

I'm actually saddened by this. McKinnon was extremely useful to feminists, after all they brought Martina et al into the conversation.

ChattyLion · 29/03/2019 20:25

Fucksake. A person who threatens others with death (Merely on the basis of disagreeing with their views Hmm) should be nowhere near any broadcaster’s call list. Nor should they be on any sponsors’ list.
They should definitely be in touch with a mental health professional very promptly though.

Natsku · 29/03/2019 20:26

Great news. This was not banning for views but banning for wishing death on a group of people. Though cynically I bet if it said t*fs should die in a grease fire rather than cs people then there would not have been a ban.

donquixotedelamancha · 29/03/2019 20:28

Are you all mad? This is terrible news. It's a huge set back to the campaign to protect women's sports.

Rachel McKinnon is a fantastic advocate for GC feminism. Her deranged views are a better recruitment tool than the most eloquent feminist.

Those graphs she made which clearly show the compete opposite of her argument were brilliant.

I hope she is back making the case for single sex sports asap.

Blueblueyellow · 29/03/2019 20:28

Delighted!! Thanks Op and tea will have a great weekend! WineStar I Was going to put up a thread about this but thought better not, didn't want any TRAs using ammunition. But did any one see the shit show with Rachel a few nights ago? Where Rachel declared they should use pansexual instead of bi?!!!

Blueblueyellow · 29/03/2019 20:29

Will have*!

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 20:29

No sorry, I don’t think people who wish we would die in a grease fire should be given a platform. There are others who highlight how ridiculous this all is without saying things like that.

Nephilim1964 · 29/03/2019 20:30

Many of us have locked our accounts on Twitter just in case of a reporting backlash.

HI everyone, not been on this board before but this happened today too, I know Glinner put it on Twitter last week. It was the story of a predatory trans paedophile being released into the community. toronto.citynews.ca/2019/03/22/peel-police-issue-public-safety-warning-about-convicted-sex-offender/

and today's news. www.cp24.com/news/convicted-pedophile-removed-from-brampton-after-feds-revoke-supervision-order-1.4357907

CaptainMarvelBunting · 29/03/2019 20:40

Yes, yes, I know McKinnon was a magnificent performer to highlight the horrendous nature of transactivism, but I'd really rather see consequences for appalling bad behaviour than have to keep saying to people "Look, this is what we're up against"

The longer McKinnon was allowed to spew their crap unfettered, the more people were gaslit into thinking that, as Twitter hadn't done anything, it can't have been that bad.

Plus, I do think there are some significant issues in terms of stability, and this comment arose because McKinnon has been escalating due to the lack of sanction and a feeling of impunity. That is actually profoundly dangerous.

This is something to celebrate. We have quite enough screen shots of their lunacy to make a very clear case.

Spokk · 29/03/2019 20:43

Who the fuck would take offence to anyone saying that Ian Huntley is a man? Is that true?

Usermynamenow · 29/03/2019 20:43

McKinnon is back on Twitter now...

birdsdestiny · 29/03/2019 20:44

Rachel is tweeting as we speak. Twitter is foul and run by misogynists.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 20:46

That’s ok. Megan Murphy was suspended a few times before there was a permanent ban. Won’t take the misogynist long to do something like that again. The suspension is still a good thing. We now have those tweets to email away....

Fairenuff · 29/03/2019 20:52

Back for how long I wonder.

GassyAss · 29/03/2019 20:57

@spokk newspapers reported that Ian Huntley identified as a woman now. I refused (as many people on twitter did) to call him a woman. TRAs reported me for misgendering him because I was being mean to the child killer. Hence me twitter suspension. You cannot make this shit up sometimes. They would defend Ian Huntley of all people over a women’s right to define their own sex.

Iused2BanOptimist · 29/03/2019 20:59

Didn't last long did it?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 29/03/2019 21:00

Do you think this means that McK has been very apologetic and grovelly behind the scenes?

youllhavehadyourtea · 29/03/2019 21:01

How come they're back? :-/

Fairenuff · 29/03/2019 21:02

Interesting statement from RM 'Twitter saying that I'm engaging in 'hate speech' (against whom? 'transphobes' aren't a protected class)'

Seems calculated to me.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 21:05

Their unhinged ranting since coming back will not look great for anyone having a check before booking them for radio, tv or sponsoring... they’ve got a serious rage problem.

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 29/03/2019 21:09

Wow, three and a half hours that was! Rachel is back and tweeting away furiously... Um.... Yay......

Ereshkigal · 29/03/2019 21:22

That's not how Twitter works. When you get suspended temporarily your account is open for people to view, you just can't post on it. So McKinnon was permabanned, but clearly someone has reversed that decision.

Lymphy · 29/03/2019 21:22

Fuck sake!

Ereshkigal · 29/03/2019 21:24

We all know which group of people Rachel means by "bitches".
