Apparently telling women to 'die in a grease fire' is hate speech. Who knew?

Have a great weekend everyone!!

It’s highly entertaining watching a narcissist implode. Pure comedy.

Powergower · 29/03/2019 19:26

Fucking yes!!! Hateful person..

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 19:26

Those tweets! Please someone send all this to men’s health Uk! I’m not on social media!

And McKinnon said: CIS. Not ‘transphobes’, cis.

I know I used a banned word MNHQ but it’s in context! Please don’t delete or strike or whatever... burn me in a grease fire Shock

Sexnotgender · 29/03/2019 19:28

Bye Felicia...

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 19:28

The irony of them raging about people controlling how they use ‘their words’, well HELLO! It’s what you’ve been doing!

FermatsTheorem · 29/03/2019 19:44

Couldn't wouldn't happen to a nicer person.

Grin
Saltovinegar · 29/03/2019 19:47

Perhaps someone could forward the tweets to Specialized Bikes 😁

Nephilim1964 · 29/03/2019 19:47

With pleasure Grin

I’m glad Twitter is eventually realising that hey, men and trans women can be utter gits too.

Melroses · 29/03/2019 19:48

The narcissistic rage is huge. I am sure they will be back to tell the world of their bullying and silencing. But I shall enjoy Wine for the moment. Smile

Cloven · 29/03/2019 19:48

Can we get a list of the UK interviewers who: had the ridiculous Rachel on their programmes; took what they had to say seriously; presented them to the audience as an expert in sport; or indeed in anything; held them up as an equal expert to the likes of Sharron Davies or Martina Navratilova; let their obvious misogyny slide; and failed to challenge any of the transparently fucking stupid points they made?

Because they should be held accountable for their stupid decisions. It has been transparently obvious that McKinnon is a misogynist nutjob who hates women and is making up whatever shit suits them when it comes to women's sport. And really, super transparently obvious that they're not a legit "cycling champion" who should get a platform to speak on that basis - I mean, honestly, the belly alone should have given that away. The people who chose to give McKinnon a platform in spite of their obvious instability, misogyny and lack of relevant expertise, should be held accountable for that decision.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/03/2019 19:48

And what did happen with specialised bikes? Is RM sponsored by anyone?

MadameAnchou · 29/03/2019 19:50

YAY!

EweSurname · 29/03/2019 19:51

I understand feeling pleased (and I’m glad mckinnon’s violence was recognised and condemned) but my position on banning of people from twitter because of their views has changed since Meghan Murphy and lots of women were banned. I feel more cautious about anyone being removed from platforms, unless of course they are inciting hatred and violence (which probably makes it ok in this case I guess?)

There were the news articles too.

Innit. Nice bit if cosmic karma though Grin

CaptainMarvelBunting · 29/03/2019 20:06

Yeah, I'm not excited about banning people per se, but if banning is being used, then damn right it should be used for people who state a desire to see women burn in agony for disagreeing with you.

Oh, and Rach, ducky, it's not just cos you said it, clamouring for violence against people you disagree with is something we condemn in no uncertain terms on FWR. But hey, let's all appreciate once more that you did, indeed, say that you wanted women you do not agree with to die, and suggested a method. Own it, petal. It's all yours.

ButterflyBitch · 29/03/2019 20:10

Lols. Literally. I’m a lurker, not articulate like you lot and not out as gc cos have no idea how it’d go down but this did make me grin.

lottiebel123 · 29/03/2019 20:14

yes, I don't like people being banned from Twitter for their views either, but there's a difference between being banned for stating biological facts and being banned for saying that women should die.

MeowthThatsRight · 29/03/2019 20:14

saltovinegar I’m going to dinner with one of the marketing executives of Merida Bikes (who own Specialized) tomorrow.

FermatsTheorem · 29/03/2019 20:17

Meowth - I emailed Specialized to point out that I'm part of their core customer base, repeat purchaser (I've bought 3 of their bikes in the last 10 years or so and DS is still growing). And I really care about women's sport. And was very annoyed with their tweet seemingly in support of RMK attacking Kelly Holmes (who is an absolute legend).

Still haven't had an answer. If I don't get some sort of answer... well, there's other bike manufacturers out there for when DS grows out of his current bike.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 20:19

but there's a difference between being banned for stating biological facts and being banned for saying that women should die.

It was all ‘c*s’ people and yes there’s a difference.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/03/2019 20:19

@MeowthThatsRight get out of here! Do the right thing!

butteryellow · 29/03/2019 20:21

I've got to agree - if you wish horrible death on people, then I'm fine about that getting you banned from twitter.

It's not like someone was making McKinnon post it - McKinnon chose to post it, it brought nothing to any conversation or debate, it was purely a revenge fantasy.

MeowthThatsRight · 29/03/2019 20:23

I’ll mention it but I’m sure he’s aware already. It’s really shit and I don’t think they understand just how many people their completely alienating.
