One liner as to why "cis" is objectionable please!

I hate the term. I hate to see women blithely reduce themselves to being a subset of women.

But I know I've read more reasons as to why it is not an ok term to use. So can you share your one liners or even two liners (they need to be simple enough that I can remember and re-use them).

Thanks!

Because it's not my identity/I don't "identify" as "cis"

Respect my identity and right to self define!

AryaStarkWolf · 15/03/2019 14:32

Because it's not my identity/I don't "identify" as "cis"

I don't think cis people are allowed to self ID

EcclesThePeacock · 15/03/2019 14:33

'I don't identify as any gender'.

Fightthebear · 15/03/2019 14:33

Because “woman” is accurate all on its own.

Ereshkigal · 15/03/2019 14:36

I don't think cis people are allowed to self ID

They can never answer why not though without stunning and brave trans ideology bluster.

peachescariad · 15/03/2019 14:36

Woman is fine just as it is....doesn't need any pre, cis shit.
I'm a woman - that's about it really.

GrinitchSpinach · 15/03/2019 14:36

Because a woman is not a non-man.

DpWm · 15/03/2019 14:40

Cis implies I identify with the sexist stereotypes associated with my sex. I don't.

Also, because the word woman has meaning which is "Adult Human Female" I reject a needless prefix.

WaddIelikeapenguin · 15/03/2019 14:42

I don’t identify with oppressive sexist stereotypes

Babdoc · 15/03/2019 14:46
  1. Because you’re mis gendering me by calling me “cis” - I bloody well do NOT accept the sexist, dated, crap gender stereotype attached to being a woman.
  2. “Woman” does not have subsets - it means adult human female, and there is no other kind of woman, because so called “transwomen” are in fact men.
TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 15/03/2019 14:47

Because which stereotypes you follow are irrelevant to anything.

misscockerspaniel · 15/03/2019 14:47

"Do you condone the use of the word cissies? No? So why do you find it acceptable to use cis?"

TheMightyToosh · 15/03/2019 14:48

I presume 'cis' has started being used as the opposite of 'trans' in this context due to their use in this way in organic chemistry. Cis means 'this side of' while trans means 'the other side of', to describe different configurations of similar molecules.

I think using 'cis' to describe a female who was born female and has no plans to be anything other than female is offensive because it suggests that we all subscribe to the notion that someone can become a woman by being 'trans'.

As per PP, it's unnecessary because a woman is imply a woman, and shouldn't need to qualify that by using a term that says 'NOT trans'.

TheMightyToosh · 15/03/2019 14:49

*simply

AnyOldPrion · 15/03/2019 14:53

The addition of “cis” to the word “woman” carries the false implication that women oppress men.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 15/03/2019 14:54

I am a woman; no adjective required to clarify that fact

magicstar1 · 15/03/2019 14:56

Because it's made up bollocks that I won't accept.

Birdie6 · 15/03/2019 14:56

Because I'm a woman and always have been one. I don't need to clarify that .

Fallingirl · 15/03/2019 14:59

I don’t look at oppressive gender stereotypes for women and go “yep, that sure looks like me”.

loveyouradvice · 15/03/2019 15:02

Absolutely agree - I don't identify as a woman, but I am physically a woman.

That for me is it in a nutshell - I am physically something, but sure as hell am not going to identify as a stereotype... I am all for breaking down gender barriers, not erecting them

Horsewithnogender · 15/03/2019 15:02

I don't think cis people are allowed to self ID

But how would somebody KNOW I was a cis?

I thought that these days anyone could be anything that he or she wanted to be..

Calvinsmam · 15/03/2019 15:04

I do not see gender as my identity I see it as my oppression, I do not identify with my oppression.

Apollo440 · 15/03/2019 15:05

As someone of asian origin I would find it as offensive as insisting on calling me a paki after I told you I did not like the term. Respect for pronouns cuts both ways.

Apollo440 · 15/03/2019 15:06

I have used that and it did shut the woke idiot up.

Lamaha · 15/03/2019 15:06

The word "woman" is complete in itself, and needs no further explanation. Even a two-year-old can identify a woman. It's very basic.
