I hate the term. I hate to see women blithely reduce themselves to being a subset of women.

But I know I've read more reasons as to why it is not an ok term to use. So can you share your one liners or even two liners (they need to be simple enough that I can remember and re-use them).

Thanks!

I think it's fine as it is. It's better to keep it the same shape, not a pyramid. It's a Venn diagram.

'Woman' will do quite well thank you.
(I don't know why 'terf' is considered insulting in some quarters.)

Because it's a misogynistic slur and many (not all) GC women think it can't be reclaimed.

You might eventually get it.

Terf is insulting because it is meant as an insult. It means "trans exterminatory", implying that defining womanhood by the logical definition of physical femaleness is equivalent to being a Nazi who wants to round up Transpersons into camps and kill them. This sort of extreme hyperbole is typical of the mentally deranged trans community and indicative that GID is a mental disorder.

3timeslucky · 27/03/2019 14:53

I thought it meant trans-exclusionary?

You had it in your opening line: ”I hate to see women blithely reduce themselves to being a subset of women.”

A quick look at these delightful screenshots will rapidly demonstrate that "terf" is simply a neutral descriptive acronym and not in the slightest bit a modern day version of "witch", "bitch", "harpy", aka "woman who says things I don't like", oh no sirree, not at all...

(Actually, someone a long time ago suggested as an exercise going through all these lovely tweets and memes replacing "terf" with "woman who says things I don't like", and reflecting on how they sounded. An interesting exercise.)
