I have been reading this board for a while but am new to posting on here. I honestly didn't mean for my post to cause confusion and I apologise if it was ambiguous.* In hindsight I should have given more context. SarahJConnor*, I am very sorry you and your family have been subjected to those racist idiots' remarks. It's been an eye opener and a shocker to read about your experiences.

I don't think you have anything to apologise for, Mankyfoot . You brought a new development in the shit show that is Rachel McKinnon to everyone's attention. It is AF's post that has started the initial tangent from the main issue.

I am Asian and I have had all sorts of assumptions that I am a gold digger/am willing to fuck a bloke 25 different ways as per the Karma Sutra and then will happily cook them a curry afterwards/ am demure and subservient (mostly from blokes who are of the woke variety); but your experiences and those of your mum - plain evil.

At my old gym, someone that worked there exclusively dated black men and made it known. The conversations staff had in general about black men’s genitalia was awful- and members like myself were exposed to loud conversations like this. For me to be shocked over something like that is not easy because my family is Polynesian and the way people back home talk about Polynesian bodies is pretty horrific too, people would say stuff to me about my own brother’s genitals ffs... I’ve just never seen staff gather round and make it so bloody obvious and loud. All the laughing and stuff... and managers included.

I can’t stop thinking that this would be an awful experience for Linford Christie if he opened this thread.

Obviously I don’t have authority or standing to say what anyone should be talking about, and I don’t want to shut down valid and needed discussion about racist tropes and the subtle and less subtle ways that racist assumptions can manifest, but if the discussion has been had, is there any way to get the thread back on track instead of this being a thread about itself?

Me too!! I’m absolutely staggered that anyone took that as anything other than the normal reaction of anybody encountering the racism and batshittery of all this for the first time!

Yes Cloven, I sort of just want this thread to get a few more 'isn't Linford Christie great' type posts now. It's important that the few questionable posts were questioned and people apologised but I feel like appreciation for him and his reply have been lost.
