I was a sports mad teen and remember my whole family screaming like banshees when LC won his gold. He spent years as the runner up to Carl Lewis and the drugs cheat, Ben Johnson, and this was his moment in the sun. And by 100 metres standards, he won that race by a county mile. Incredibly emotional.....
As was Kelly Holmes' double in the 2004 Olympics, whom I had admired for years and who went through so much with injuries and disappointment (and competing against drug cheats), all the while serving her country in the army.
And please may I recommend John Regis (so many medals, but this is my favourite) along with Derek Redmond (Sharron Davis's ex husband), Kris Akabussi and Rodger Black winning the 4x400m final in the Tokyo World Games 1991 - it's on Youtube and incredibly emotional and inspiring. Jon Regis is still, I believe, the UK's 200m record holder.
And yet, how do these beta males brand these incredible athletes who have brought so much pleasure to sports lovers, so many accolades for their country, done so much for up and coming athletes; they are has beens, terfs and transphobes who know nothing about prejudice.
Maybe UK athletics need to realise people like me will no longer pay to go to stadia to watch athletics, if it's to watch no talent beta men steal glory from hard working girls.
