www.theguardian.com/society/2019/mar/10/transgender-model-threat-from-women

“I don’t feel safe because of other women,” Bergdorf said to the Women of the World audience. “That’s really weighing heavily on me.”

The mixed-race former L’Oréal model also said she had “dreaded” attending the event due to the threat she detects from “cisgender” females – those women who were assigned their gender at birth.

What does those women who were assigned their gender at birth mean Observer?

MB does not approve of current discussions re male bodied people competing in women's sport. MB feels 'threatened' by women and says there is no threat to women from transwomen.... well, where to start. Male violence, see also transcrimeuk.com.

Amazes me that those who wish to live as if they had been born a woman lack insight into the lives of women (born women).

I've got eye strain from all the rolling.

And what exactly does this mean?

Women of the World founder Jude Kelly said that Bergdorf had been the recent recipient of “word hatred” in the media.

Context please.

Sexnotgender · 10/03/2019 12:45

Gosh not word hatred, poor MunroeHmm

CatandtheFiddle · 10/03/2019 12:47

Bergdorf doesn't strike me as being particularly bright.

youllhavehadyourtea · 10/03/2019 12:50

word hatred
word salad
word bollox

CatandtheFiddle · 10/03/2019 12:52

You have the choice between worrying about men who might literally (in the correct sense of the word "literally") physically assault you (because yes, transphobia, in its correct sense of an irrational hatred of people who are gender non-conforming, is a real thing, but, like pretty much all other violence in the world, statistically, it's overwhelmingly carried out by men), or worrying about women who disagree with your pseudo-religious world view about gender fairies, whose only interest in the issue is defending women's spaces, but who actually support you in your right to be gender non-conforming. And you choose to be frightened of women

Bears repeating.

There is violent transphobia in this world; there is discrimination. It is generally perpetrated by men, and especially by powerful men.

justmesathereyawning · 10/03/2019 12:55

Man invited to speak at "Women of the World" event (WHY), uses this opportunity to whine about feeling threatened by women.

Why, why, why. Just why. What was the tipping point at which this fucking lunacy became acceptable? How can we turn the clock back?

justmesathereyawning · 10/03/2019 13:01

And on the same day I have also read about two women murdered by the man who was their partner/father.

We know who poses the threat here. We know who actually poses a threat to women. Fuck off to the far side off with your "word hatred" and narcissistic, poor-little-me posing.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 10/03/2019 13:01

This person is irrelevant to me. Not even reading. You’re afraid? So am I, and I have almost no way of defending myself as a small woman.

justmesathereyawning · 10/03/2019 13:01

*far side of fuck. Oops.

zanahoria · 10/03/2019 13:11

feelings, feelings, feelings

me, me, me

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/03/2019 13:13

Oh dear.

Does this word hate you dear? Or this one? Or any of these?

Pshaw!!!

Beamur · 10/03/2019 13:16

I guess what MB is experiencing is women who do not accept this changing narrative. The conviction that you are a woman meeting the equally sure conviction (from women) that you are not one of them must be deeply disappointing.

McTufty · 10/03/2019 13:18

The problem is that the extreme trans ideology is alienating a lot of women and driving a wedge between women and trans women, which simply wouldn’t be there if people like Munroe were slightly more respectful of our differences and the role of female biology in our oppression.

I have considered whether this is victim blaming and decided not because I don’t think MB is a victim, just that she’s upset people don’t agree with her.

justmesathereyawning · 10/03/2019 13:22

Bergdorf isn't a victim. Bergdorf chose to take hormones and undergo surgery in an attempt to "become" a woman (turns out that some of us think it's not quite so simple, who'da thunk it?) I don't see any of the actual women who spoke at this event making front-page news.

auldcraw · 10/03/2019 13:26

What can I say, Guardian publishes big load of twaddle, as is their current want, then request donation..fat chance.
They lost me with cologne and seem to get dafter by the week.

hipsterfun · 10/03/2019 13:30

Word hatred?! JFC.

I had a reminder on Friday that I’ll likely never be free of the trauma caused by male violence, and the shadow it has cast over my life.

MB and the other victimhood appropriators are fucking shameless.

Angryresister · 10/03/2019 13:32

Why on earth was this map erosion given a platform at WOW?

zanahoria · 10/03/2019 13:34

Trans model Munroe Bergdorf says she feels threatened by other women

Martina Navratilova criticised over 'cheating' trans women comments

Compare and contrast the way The Guardian reports Martina and Munroe speaking out on these issues, one is portrayed as a victim the other as a villain.

It really makes my blood boil, Martina Navratilova has done so much for women, for lesbians, for liberty but the Guardian doesn't care about these things any more.

zanahoria · 10/03/2019 13:35

and that has upset my feelings!

CarolDanvers · 10/03/2019 13:46

Translation:- "Things are swinging back the other way and am not being feted and prioritised everywhere I go anymore and I don't like it, so time to play the victim. "

CatandtheFiddle · 10/03/2019 13:51

which simply wouldn’t be there if people like Munroe were slightly more respectful of our differences and the role of female biology in our oppression

Just demonstrating some knowledge of female lives and oppression would be a start. Don't need their respect.

HermioneWeasley · 10/03/2019 13:52

How can you tell if Munroe is on your aeroplane? The whining continues when the engines are switched off.

Angryresister · 10/03/2019 13:54

Oops You know what I meant..person male

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 10/03/2019 13:59

I can see why women speaking about women, and our wants and needs, feels threatening to mb, because it highlights that they are not part of the group women. And there is nothing mb can do about that.

Threatening isn't really the correct word.
Mb isn't threaten by women, mb really means that mb is losing control over women.

ThePankhurstConnection · 10/03/2019 14:02

Women don't agree with me and should stop using their words to express it because it upsets me - just summing up what Bergdorf means with all those emotive words.

People disagreeing with me makes me frightened - if anyone else said that (and that is what this amounts to) I would suggest the problem is yours and perhaps you require therapy.

All this is, is another example of Bergdorf being manipulative. You cannot force women to agree with you on this Bergdorf, you need to get over it.
