50 activists are reportedly occupying the MoJ as a protest regarding trans women having their own prison wing created for them.

Surely nothing is stopping anyone from becoming a medical student and getting medical training, their being trans certainly should present no barrier?

Well you have to accept biological reality and understand medical ethics and get the concept of evidence based medicine to pass a medical degree.

I think this may be a barrier to some militant trans people who view these as 'transphobic' social constructs and are seeking to actively remove them from trans health.

Also, if you are this ideologically militant then I'm not sure how long you'd last before you were hit by a lawsuit if you did manage to qualify.

Screaming transphobia isn't a defence in a court of law if you are guilty of malpractice or acting without proper consent.

But this are people who don't really give a fuck about consent, given they are screaming about the persecution of Karen flipping White, are they?

For that reason alone, I think they should be kept as far away as possible from a profession that understanding and upholding consent is crucial in. Thus ruling out medicine that way.

Is the 'Trans Health in Trans Hands' also a demand that they should be given whatever they desire, whenever they desire it, at whatever age from the NHS? (on the grounds that they are so unique and special and their demands must come first in all things).

I almost wish someone would accede to that 'right for medical training' demand. Of course, to be able to safely carry out procedures and do meaningful scientific research, they'd actually have to pass all the exams, and then do post med-school training as a junior doctor and/or postgrad science qualifications.

Trans people have the same "right" to medical training as everyone else. Get all A* grades at GCSE, take at least 2 sciences at A level, pass all your A levels with at least A grades, do a load of work experience in medically-related settings prior to applying to universities, get a place, do at least 5 years of extraordinarily hard study...

I'm confused. How is it in any way 'feminist' to want to abolish prisons? What do these 'anti-carceral' types think should be done about murderers and rapists - let them all go free?

I'd like to see this branch of the TRAs debate the 'anyone who disagrees with us should be sent to a gulag' branch.

It's not about being othered, if they are stuck with only each other then they would be stuck face to face with their own fetish and have no access to other victims.

I personally would love to see this protest reported on the front page of every newspaper in Britain, together with details of crimes committed by Karen White, Davina Ayrton, Lauren Jeska, Clare Darbyshire, that rapist in Scotland whose name escapes me. Name the whole bloody lot of them.

Interesting to see the crimes committed by those they want to be put in a female prison.

Fortunately, only the most lunatic of people would agree.
