50 activists are reportedly occupying the MoJ as a protest regarding trans women having their own prison wing created for them.

Well I think our security people were confused by the banners and tried to direct them to the Dept of Health at first.

But once they realised it was a prison issue they pointed them in the direction of MoJ.

Nightowlagain · 08/03/2019 19:13

Why is this not reported anywhere? I’ve googled and I can’t see anything at all.

It all sounds so gloriously British.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 08/03/2019 19:14

They came to the Home Office first. Until we pointed out that we hadn't been responsible for prisons since 2005

AHHahahahamazing

It was a tiny protest about a niche issue. Probably not news worthy.

TransposersArePosers · 08/03/2019 19:16

MillytantForceit Reminds me of the rent strike at my University in the early 1990's (I was in Grizedale, if that means anything to you?)

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/03/2019 19:19

It’s not quite the poll tax riots is it?

Ereshkigal · 08/03/2019 19:28

It’s a bit like a particularly bad day on The Thick of It, combined with the Cake episode of Brass Eye, combined with Nathan Barley #

Yes to all this! So glad someone else sees the Nathan Barley elements too Grin

Ereshkigal · 08/03/2019 19:31

I'm confused. How is it in any way 'feminist' to want to abolish prisons? What do these 'anti-carceral' types think should be done about murderers and rapists - let them all go free?

Yes. That is basically it.

Ereshkigal · 08/03/2019 19:31

Cheered me up no end Grin

RedToothBrush · 08/03/2019 19:33

This can't be real can it?!

It would explain why none of them are studying medicine though.

AwdBovril · 08/03/2019 19:34

Trans health in trans hands.

I could accept that, possibly. If TRAs could accept that natal women should be allowed to dictate the sex and/or specific identity of their healthcare workers. So far that's not been a popular idea...

😂😂😂 that is absolutely top notch gold 😂

Sexnotgender · 08/03/2019 19:47

Why are these people all so bloody thick? Turning up at the wrong place to protest Grin brilliant.

S1naidSucks · 08/03/2019 20:02

I sound like such a bloody Mumsnet cliche, but I’m fucking roaring at that! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’m picturing them walking up with their voices raised and their righteous indignation, then shuffling from foot to foot, when it’s pointed out to them, that they’re in the wrong place. Aw Jesus, I bet they don’t put that bit on Twitter! 🤣🤣

AnotherBewilderedQuoll · 08/03/2019 20:11

Considering it's transactivists who are celebrating every time police detain someone for fact-speech tweets, I wonder how 'anti-carceral' they feel toward the ugly mugs who are roughing up/murdering 'transwomen' in the sex trade, or dudes on the downlow bashing/killing trans in domestic violence. I suspect when TRAs say they're "anti-carceral", they only mean they want trans to be able to do whatever tf they want without having to fear cage-and-bars dysphoria.

This is like the plot of a Carry On film.

Tragedy is that MPs have listened and are listening to the people behind these useful idiots.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/03/2019 20:15

Apparently the stop at the Home Office was deliberate...

"Outside the Home Office demanding an end to deportations and prisons. No borders, no nations! #IWD2019 #8M2019 #womenstrike" t.co/7I1ysS3ujW

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/03/2019 20:26

Yeah right. So not a face saving rewrite?

Now there's a political cause that's well explained

Of course it was.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/03/2019 20:33

I can’t even see that!

Ereshkigal · 08/03/2019 20:47

Apparently the stop at the Home Office was deliberate...

Natch.

Not seeing too many banners and placards about deportation though?

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 08/03/2019 21:22

They had to deport their feelz down the road a bit. 🗺

These people are clearly insane - as in actually certifiable, aren't they?

Also is Jess Bradley the one with the red face-scarf on the corner of the red banner? (Or is it Jess's lookalike from the Bristol womens meeting picket?)
