50 activists are reportedly occupying the MoJ as a protest regarding trans women having their own prison wing created for them.

I can't work out what they are chanting but I am very amused that there are about 15 of them and the ones at the back are carrying their banner upside down

This mirrors disturbing plans to expand the prison estate to hold 10,000 more inmates by 2020, including plans to build a non-binary prison in Scotland.

A non-binary prison??? Well, that sounds like a delightfully safe place to be in possession of a vagina.

This is just the anti-prison lot again, isn't it? That's not going to play well with the general population or those in government with their snouts in the trough of public money.

If this is real then I think it will get a lot of people's attention. Even my very, very non-GC sister agrees with GC reasoning when it comes to prisons (she remains unconvinced either way re sports).

They OPPOSE a special unit that caters for their unique needs. They OPPOSE the protection of a safe space for transgender people. Safety isn't an issue.

A whole wing at HMP Downview (a women's prison) has been set aside for three transwomen with GRC who are deemed too dangerous to be in with the main prison population.
There are no plans to roll out such segregation through the whole prison service.
And on IWD 50 trans activists chose to ride this particular hobby horse all the way to the MoJ? Really, of all the things anyone could campaign for on IWD? How intersectional of them.

Trans women do not have to go to prison at all. They could not break the law, not be violent thugs, not rape people.
I honestly think some TRAs want to go.

Aw bless them they're very young aren't they. And nearly outnumbered by police and orange jacket people (are they journalists?). Only someone very young and idealistic could think abolishing prisons is in any way sane. Or that prison staff are responsible for any significant proportion of prison violence. Unless it's the acknowledging biological reality type of "literal" violence?

So there's no "trans wing" just 3 prisoners who are too violent to be in with the other (women?) prisoners, who are being kept apart.
