I did see photos of them inside but I can’t verify what building that actually is.

I am imagining the briefing beforehand must have been quite cursory as it didn’t seem to cover the quite important points about being fully dressed and holding your banner the right way up 😂

And this is the problem with the rules. If a GRC is given to anyone, or not, and you can't ask to see it, how can you tell if someone is male or female? (according to trans logic obviously.)

And they've got a point. If you are deciding that being a man or a woman is a question of identity, you can't tell by looking.

So in order to identify them as trans they will be outed.

How does that work in terms of the case by case basis, anyway? Or the panel. If they're not supposed to even know they are trans.

I'm guessing this is why those with a GRC got automatic entry. Because you can't argue with it or ask about it, and don't even need to use it.

How predictable. And if these ATHwipes were actually granted their demands for "trans health in trans hands" they'd kick off about that too, accusing the program of "quarantining traaaaans people" or something. You would think "trans women" would be keen for a specialised wing, staffed b trans people and others specifically trained to be empathetic and skilled in dealing with trans people's unique issues in incarceration, rehabilitation and release.

But no. Its not about safety or anything other than validation and access to whoever and whatever's behind any door marked "Women".
"Occupying" the MoJ- Another typically masculine Invasion/transgression/show of force. It'd be nice if these people bothered to or even had the inclination to transition out of masculinity, instead of just transitioning out of one set of clothes for another..

Its a specialist wing for women who pose a higher risk to staff and other inmates. Its just that since that risk comes from 'women with willies' that its appropriate for all the 'women with willies' to be put together.

One of the banners suggests it's rape by staff that they're worried about. I note there's no obvious acknowledgment of the fact a significant % of trans women are in prison for sexual crimes though. Funny that.

Surely nothing is stopping anyone from becoming a medical student and getting medical training, their being trans certainly should present no barrier?

Unless the means actually is fully funded (free) university places on medical training programmes, and no requirement to have the qualifications to be there?

Funny how they demand the creation of a parallel system in some areas, but the more mundane and reasonably doable suggestions like third spaces don't seem to gain any traction among this lot.

And why TW being amongst women makes them so much safer from the risks from prison staff than being among men does?

I'm now wondering if Women's Strike have been had.

They could train as prison officers.

And work specifically with those male people who have a history of violence and sexual offences. And who the MoJ deem too dangerous to join women inmates in women's prisons.

Transgender offenders searched by transgender officers. Job done.

I almost wish someone would accede to that 'right for medical training' demand. Of course, to be able to safely carry out procedures and do meaningful scientific research, they'd actually have to pass all the exams, and then do post med-school training as a junior doctor and/or postgrad science qualifications.
