"My vagina looked SO bad that my mom, sister, and the surgeons wouldn't even let me look at it. Eventually, I used a compact mirror to get a peak and all I could do was laugh. If only you guys knew.."

twitter.com/JazzJennings__/status/1092971983996895232

"In life, everything is about attitude & perspective. Even though my vagina falling apart was the hardest thing I ever experienced, I knew that one day I would be fully healed & recovered. I had to adopt the mindset of my future self & know in my heart that everything would be ok."

twitter.com/JazzJennings__/status/1092969159753850881

"I'm glad that this rare complication happened to me rather than to another trans individual. With the love & support of my family, it makes it easier for me to conquer a challenge like this. I can't imagine how devasting it would be for someone without that support system."

Jazz is talking about the multiple surgeries caused in large part because of the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.

The 'devastating' effects are what Mermaids are campaigning for for thousands of UK children.

So. Fucken. Awful.
Shame on all who supported this.

Wishing you a better future Jazz.

Mrskeats · 06/02/2019 22:20

It’s not a vagina though.

MsMcWoodle · 06/02/2019 22:23

Mrskeats - Agree. Poor Jazz

failingatlife · 06/02/2019 22:25

So sad that Jazz has had this done to them. Just encourages me to fight to ensure this does not happen to more kids
Sad

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 06/02/2019 22:25

The worst thing about these tweets are the people who are so keen to point out how inspirational this is and how amazing the family are. A healthy young person undergoing unnecessary surgery which will leave them sterile led by parents who pathologised a child before they even had language and then sold the TV rights is not inspirational. It's horrific. I can't believe that a society that condemns the brutal abuse of children in "backward" parts of the globe (FGM , breast ironing etc) can't see that this is exactly the same. It's sick cultural imperialism to suggest Western versions of child abuse is morally superior.

RockyFlintstone · 06/02/2019 22:26

Jesus.

Poor Jazz

And the comment about being glad it happened to them and not another trans person - they really are carrying a whole ideology on their shoulders as the 'poster kid' for transgenderism aren't they?

Mrskeats · 06/02/2019 22:27

Couldn’t agree more alice. So sad.

QuietContraryMary · 06/02/2019 22:30

"The worst thing about these tweets are the people who are so keen to point out how inspirational this is and how amazing the family are. "

Yes, one of the RTs on Jazz's Twitter is

"Tonight’s self-care involves watching the new #IAmJazz instead of #SOTU19. "

And the author of this tweet is

"Patty writes TO
@PattyInHD
Founder/editor of Toronto-based intersectional feminist mag @NastyWomenPress. Freelance writer/editor. Dog mom (dogma?) + soon-to-be stepmom to humans. enGAYged"

What's inspiring about a child on TV holding up dildos to dilate their new surgically created wound? How is that self-care? It's horrifying.

And the tweeters bio is as predictable as you like. So woke her brains fell out.

RockyFlintstone · 06/02/2019 22:33

Just to say, Jazz is 18 so is no longer a child. Not that that makes any of this all that much better tbh, since Jazz has been indoctrinated since the age of 2 apparently.

God, that poor kid. I know 18 is legally an adult but I was little more than a kid at that age, and my brain went through puberty. I could weep for some of the mistakes I was led into making at that age, when I didn’t know better, and Jazz has been lead all their life.

Anybody who thinks the path that Jazz has been lead down is inspirational, and I’m not just talking drugs and surgery, needs to take a good hard look at themselves. They’re fucking warped.

AngryAttackKittens · 06/02/2019 22:53

There is nothing about this programme and it's associated media circus that isn't deeply depressing. Poor kid never had a chance.

QuietContraryMary · 06/02/2019 22:59

"Just to say, Jazz is 18 so is no longer a child."

Well, chronologically, no, but biologically who knows?

OP posts:
WeRiseUp · 06/02/2019 22:59

the comment about being glad it happened to them and not another trans person

That comment to me struck me as very naive and immature - the sort of thing I used to come out with as an idealistic kid and my DC1 does. It's ridiculously martyr-like. I think it may because of being prevented from going through puberty and being denied the normal development of an adult mind. It's so sad to see a person has been publicly experimented on from childhood demonstrate so much misplaced loyalty and trust in the people harming them. Sad

feelingverylazytoday · 06/02/2019 22:59

This is fucking disgusting. Jazz had a healthy functional penis and testicles prior to the hormone therapy and surgery. They could have died under the anaesthetic or potential post op complications. I dont understand why any parent would encourage their child to do this.

QuietContraryMary · 06/02/2019 23:03

" Jazz had a healthy functional penis and testicles prior to the hormone therapy and surgery. "

Well yes, though Jazz has not had a normal functioning penis for quite a long time now, and Jazz's penis was not allowed to go through normal human development before being chopped off.

theworldistoosmall · 06/02/2019 23:07

Hopefully in a few years time when Jazz fully comprehends the damage done she will sue her fucking hideous parents.
FGM is illegal yet this crap is perfectly legit. It's horrendous.
This highlights more why this is such a bad idea. Hopefully, more 'sane' people will start opening their eyes and make this barbaric practice illegal and start prosecuting parents. The damage that they have done to her body and long term Mh is horrific.
I know she's now legally an adult. But this shite started when she was still a minor and has been seriously let down by those around her. FFS kids change their minds like the weather.

frazzled1 · 06/02/2019 23:13

'The operation I got involved multiple skin grafts and the use of my peritoneum (stomach lining) to create the vagina. Hopefully this will pave the way for other suppressed youth.'

Jazz you mean your neovagina not your vagina, you don't have a vagina. I hope other GNC kids read your story with great compassion but without taking leave of their critical senses.

Trousering · 06/02/2019 23:19

Definitely not a vagina. Poor kid.

Iused2BanOptimist · 06/02/2019 23:21

I'm really worried about this peritoneum harvesting. I hope it doesn't lead to adhesions and subsequent abdominal problems in the future. No way would I interfere with my peritoneum in this way.
Also it is an internal membrane which is normally moist. How will it not glue together in the neovagina?
And of course there can not be any muscle surrounding this membranous cavity. It's a life long health risk as far as I can see.

hipsterfun · 06/02/2019 23:21

I can't believe that a society that condemns the brutal abuse of children in "backward" parts of the globe (FGM , breast ironing etc) can't see that this is exactly the same.

Quite.

You’d think large charities concerned with child safeguarding and protection would be taking a dim view of it, and the bullshit ideology that supports it...

Mrskeats · 06/02/2019 23:24

And what hideous, Frankenstein type doctor agreed to do this?
First do no harm used to be a thing.
