"My vagina looked SO bad that my mom, sister, and the surgeons wouldn't even let me look at it. Eventually, I used a compact mirror to get a peak and all I could do was laugh. If only you guys knew.."

twitter.com/JazzJennings__/status/1092971983996895232

"In life, everything is about attitude & perspective. Even though my vagina falling apart was the hardest thing I ever experienced, I knew that one day I would be fully healed & recovered. I had to adopt the mindset of my future self & know in my heart that everything would be ok."

twitter.com/JazzJennings__/status/1092969159753850881

"I'm glad that this rare complication happened to me rather than to another trans individual. With the love & support of my family, it makes it easier for me to conquer a challenge like this. I can't imagine how devasting it would be for someone without that support system."

Jazz is talking about the multiple surgeries caused in large part because of the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.

The 'devastating' effects are what Mermaids are campaigning for for thousands of UK children.

What has been done to Jazz is so so wrong. Poor thing will probably never get to experience sexual pleasure and likely have medical problems with their neo vagina.
I wonder for how much longer TLC will want to film them too as it may be seen as Jazz having the surgery as the end of the ‘journey’.
What will happen when the cameras stop rolling and Jazz matures into adulthood?

calpop · 07/02/2019 09:44

How can she ever mature into aduthood when her brain hasnt gone through puberty? Will she now be allowed to go through puberty?

NotBadConsidering · 07/02/2019 09:46

A fully grown, post-pubertal adult, fully aware of what sexual function entails, who has had years of quality mental health support, a competent surgeon who doesn’t stand to profit either in profile or financially, with realistic expectations clearly delineated, then repeated with a second opinion to make sure the person knows they’re committing themselves to a life of sexual dysfunction and medicalisation: I would support those trans women and wish them all the best.

What has happened to Jazz? Everyone who has been affirmative in what has been done to her can fuck off to the far side off fuck, and should face prosecution. What has happened to her makes me want to cry, so people who think there is “scorn” for her here can also fucking do one.

ChattyLion · 07/02/2019 09:46

Poor Jazz. How can this be legal? Jazz (surrounded by all this ‘support’) at only 18 has given up the experience of normal puberty, genital sexual pleasure, Jazz’s natural fertility, normal genital, brain and bone maturation and all the other physical maturation that goes along with puberty. Massive permanent losses.

It’s horrendously unethical to do this to a child or young person for the sake of making them ‘conform’ physically and for the sake of a future partner’s pleasure. It just doesn’t bear thinking about. Poor Jazz.

FamilyOfAliens · 07/02/2019 09:49

It’s a shame f4 didn’t stick around to tell us the ways in which she feels we should suppprt and respect this hideous travesty dressed up as healthcare.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 07/02/2019 10:00

Everything that notbadconsidering
Said.

Also, not a vagina.

rocketromano · 07/02/2019 10:34

I can’t believe they used peritoneum to create this neo-vagina. This is truly Frankenstein type surgery, no doubt being lauded as a great medical breakthrough. I think this surgery is more to do with the surgeon than the patient tbh.
Poor Jazz Sad

RockyFlintstone · 07/02/2019 10:47

Hold up, Jazz's surgeon is a transwoman?!

Where are the checks and balances here? Where is the neutral party with no vested interest to give advice here? We are talking about a young man being castrated and having some of his stomach put there instead, and there is no third party to step in and say, 'hang on, this is not right because x, y, z (and z and z and z and z).

I guess they would be dismissed as' bigoted haters who just wanna spread negativity'.

I know that Jazz has had some mental health issues. I guess the new 'vagina' has been sold to Jazz as the panacea. And if the mental health issues continue, I'm sure the line will be that it's because others don't accept Jazz, it will be societies fault. Not because Jazz is a sterile male with absolutely no sexual feeling and is wondering why they have to miss out on what all of their friends seem to be experiencing sex wise, whilst also possibly dealing with a myriad of medical issues arising from the open wound that was once their genitals.

How is this OK?

Iused2BanOptimist · 07/02/2019 10:55

As a feminist, I cannot support self harming and bodily mutilation. It goes against everything I believe in.

You don't have to be a feminist to be against harm and mutilation Frigg

I work in the NHS and see enough illness to value good health above everything. I have taught my DC that they are blessed with good health and to value it and take care of themselves, for some people every day of their lives is an uphill battle against the card they were dealt.
To destroy the good health of a young fit person is a wicked crime.

VickyEadie · 07/02/2019 10:56

Other people have had this surgery haven't they? Or is there something about this surgery that is pioneering? I haven't really been following really closely.

Other adults who didn't have puberty blockers which halted their physical and sexual development have had it - I think doing it on a child's (because puberty blockers kept Jazz's body child-like) body is 'pioneering'.

RockyFlintstone · 07/02/2019 11:00

Jazz had this surgery last June apparently and only turned 18 in October. So not an adult then Shock

RockyFlintstone · 07/02/2019 11:01

I thought Jazz had only just had this done, but maybe it's only being aired on the show now.

happydappy2 · 07/02/2019 11:17

Alarm bells ringing even more loudly now-the surgeon is a transwoman.

HTF is that ethical & not remotely pushing an ideology onto a child.

Datun · 07/02/2019 11:24

Feminist4

It shows how determined trans women are. In spite of all the obstacles and difficulties they choose to have difficult surgery. We need to give them support and not scorn.

I've never read anything so callous.

They chose to have difficult surgery? This wasn't Jazz, Jazz was 11 when they had puberty blockers.

'Chose to have difficult surgery?' My question to you is WHY?

In Jazz's book, gender dysphoria was mentioned only once. Tutus and stereotypes is what this has been based on.

At the age of 11 Jazz was put on a pathway to reduce their IQ, leave them permanently infertile, unable to experience sexual pleasure, and they have to accept they need an artificially created hole in order for a man to penetrate it. Or look at it. Or for them to look at it. And keep it dilated for the rest of their life.

So, again, why? Show me any evidence, whatsoever that justifies WHY?

Datun · 07/02/2019 11:25

I thought Jazz had only just had this done, but maybe it's only being aired on the show now.

Presumedly it's being aired once they have got to a place where Jazz is not in a state of anguish. Because that doesn't make for good telly.

I see my post with the doctor's details has been censored.

Jazz's doctor/surgeon is a transwoman too, Marci Bowers.

I remember this doctor from a TV programme where they showed part of the surgery. I think it was the one in this article:

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4921452/Surgeon-world-s-transgender.html

The doctor made admiring comments about the size of the penis they were just about to remove.

QuietContraryMary · 07/02/2019 12:19

Also I'm not quite clear why posts criticising a Dr. who specialises in this stuff have been deleted when I see in 'active posts' now 'Samantha fucking Markle - a different breed of shithead'

I can’t see why your original comment would be removed, but someone obviously reported it...

Sexnotgender · 07/02/2019 12:26

Poor poor kid, I wonder what jazz really thinks behind all the bravado.

GerryblewuptheER · 07/02/2019 12:27

Surely information regarding drs has to be open?

Shouldn't patients be able to look for feedback. Both positive and negative ?

Given many patients these days travel abroad for surgery, on line stuff/forums must provide a valuable service when it comes to research your dr and wanting a wide range of opinions and outcomes instead of an.edited online portfolio

QuietContraryMary · 07/02/2019 12:28

"I can’t see why your original comment would be removed, but someone obviously reported it."

Yes not just mine, but a reply to it, which questioned the motives of the doctor.

If there is a potential conflict of interest, I would say yes.

Datun · 07/02/2019 12:29

Oh well, if people can't find the information on here they can always look on kiwi farms.

NotBadConsidering · 07/02/2019 12:31

And with this I wonder if there’s even a remote option of an “out”: someone neutral they can talk to, or someone who says it ok to be angry about all this. Maybe Jazz doesn’t feel that way, but I would hope that if Jazz does, then someone gives Jazz the strength to stand up and say so.
