So ... yesterday I posted a (what I thought was) a pretty innocuous, mild comment on an article about a news report. The subject is discussed here on another thread.

This morning my boss calls me into her office and shows me an email from a weird looking gmail address with a screenshot of my fb page.
The email was complaining about my transphobic attitude, and how the trans students at the school work in and take care off cannot be safe around me.

Thankfully my boss was as cross about this as I was, but she obviously has to follow protocol and asked me to take my place of work of FB and to delete my post of possible. She replied to the sender with a generic "thanks very much, we will look into it" reply.

We had a long chat around the subject which ended with her suggesting we had a chat with our safeguarding lead in the NY about this when I told her about and she has asked me to get a copy of the transgender trend schools pack. So its all good and I'm not in any bother as I have a sensible boss, but it could have been very different.

I know this has been happening to lots of women, but I have barely put my head over the parapet and this happens. I feel a bit shaken.

So its not the last line at all

People on this board quite agree that men are violent to men and if you would like to exclude sexual attacks which im betting you do...then its mainly men who suffer from violence

Pop sexual attcks back and fucking hell does it go the other way!!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 21:25

And i do look at some of scotts post and nod along

And then he goes and says something silly and ruin its

Its just disappointing

ScottCheggJnr · 26/12/2018 21:25

To put it bluntly, men understand that they're much more likely to get their jaw broken if they say or do something stupid.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 21:26

Ruin its Shock

Thats cos i realised i was speaking about scott in the third person and had to change everything...badly

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 21:27

But i dont get why you dont think women don't understand that?

Violent men dont stop cos its a lady anymore...(if indeed they ever did)

ScottCheggJnr · 26/12/2018 21:30

That's what I meant. The reality of being assaulted by a stranger for being in the wrong time/place is that much more a likelihood for men that most seem more inclined to play it safe than reason that they shouldn't have to.

But my original post did come across a bit more pompously than intended.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 21:35

scott

Okay

But i think its just as much an issue for a female

I think to be very vey fair (which im not 100% sure you deserve...but it is Christmas..ish) that once upon a time a female could cut someone up on a roundabout or say fuck you to a man and probably get away with it

Not any more...now women are in just as much danger

And id also argue that part of the reason why men get punched out a lot is that, unlike women, they haven't learned to keep their heads down

ScottCheggJnr · 26/12/2018 21:37

Violent men dont stop cos its a lady anymore

Not truly wayward individuals, but there are plenty of tough guys out there who'd think nothing of bashing another guy but would get furious at seeing a man lay a finger on a woman - pretty much the antihero stereotype.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 21:38

I remember years ago a group of men yelling about what they woukd like to do with me

My boyfriend and i were 18ish and lord love him he didnt know what to do with himself

His impulse was to go and have a yell at them but i told him to ignore it

I knew not to antagonise a group of men and he didnt, mainly i would say down to his socialisation of man the protector

My socialisation was telling something completely different

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 21:39

Oh fucking hell!!!

You have to read my posts with the missing words in and better spelling or it makes no fucking sense Grin

MargueritaPink · 26/12/2018 22:27

And i do look at some ofscottspost and nod along

Yes me too.

Have you been at the sherry tonight Rufus?

ScottCheggJnr · 26/12/2018 22:27

Sounds like he was a very fortunate guy in that instance!

RollerJed · 26/12/2018 22:30

Male on male violence being compared to male on female violence. Ok.

And what's the common theme? Males.

How about if men weren't so violent we'd all be fine. Strange concept I know.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 22:35

Why pink? cos of the spelling or saying that on the odd occasion scott says something sensible Grin

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 22:40

scott

They were probably all mouth and trousers...but you just can't tell

MargueritaPink · 26/12/2018 22:43

The spelling. I agree Scott does make some good points from time to time.

ScottCheggJnr · 26/12/2018 22:48

Now I feel a little bad for being a bit of a GF tonight!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 22:52

Well as you know pink my spelling isn't the best

Add to that to an inability to type and a lack of patience and it makes for some very garbled posts!!!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 22:53

Only a little scott?

MargueritaPink · 26/12/2018 23:00

Well as you know pink my spelling isn't the best

I hadn't noticed until tonight ! Hence the sherry comment.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 23:09

Oooh i see Xmas Grin

Nah, im rubbish either way...just usually catch the worst errors

MargueritaPink · 26/12/2018 23:15

You're not rubbish.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/12/2018 23:16

Thank you pink

Off to bed, enjoy the rest of your evening Smile
