And he did it with the most derogatory angry expression on his face.

It would be ratchet if I actually liked the man. I don't, can't stand him and wouldn't vote for him. So I am not "a Corbynista".

But the fact the Tories have discovered they are feminists is laughable.

And yes anyone falling for this diversion from the shit show this Govt has caused is indeed stupid.

Move on people as we have much much more to concern ourselves with. No wonder we are a laughing stock internationally.

ratchethandler · 20/12/2018 10:09

Ok, we're all stupid and ought to move on, point made.

Will you lead by example?

Yearofthemum · 20/12/2018 10:12

It us consistent with Corbyn's politics to have said people, not woman.

Bejazzled · 20/12/2018 10:12

If people show you what they are.....believe them

For the record, I can't bear Corbyn, he's a neolithic brocialist who should sod off back to his allotment.

But there really wasn't a media furore when the Chancellor of the Exchequer called a Labour MP a stupid woman. Most people only learned about it yesterday. Whataboutery it may be, but hypocrisy doe stick in my craw. Personally I think the entire political class should be ground up and returned to the soil. My ds's Y11 Citizenship class could do better.

Riotingbananas · 20/12/2018 10:16

Move on people as we have much much more to concern ourselves with.

I think a quick look at the feminism boards highlighting the erosion of women's rights to a safe space shows just how important women being treated with equality and respect is. And the delightful Jezza let his mask slip yesterday. I'll keep on concerning myself with how men treat women.

DioVelazquez · 20/12/2018 10:23

"Let his mask slip" and "cover up" - huge overreactions. Lots of people on here have admitted to calling women stupid women the same way they call men stupid men sometimes. It's not inherently sexist.

Perhaps he really did say people, or perhaps he said woman and is lying about it. But that wouldn't exactly be front page news either. "Politician lies to cover own back"... what a shocker.

ratchethandler · 20/12/2018 10:26

Besides, you are quite wrong. Tories haven't discovered they are feminists particularly, [though it could be argued they have given us two female PM's to Labour's none] ...They're [at least I'm] not bothered about the comment itself, the issue is: the hypocrisy of the leader of the opposition party [as well as his acolytes] who would have no doubt demanded the resignation of a Tory who'd visibly muttered the same remark after a Labour female MP had got under their skin, in the hoc.

As well as the blatant lies from Corbyn afterwards, of course...

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 20/12/2018 10:28

I move on...that is an example.

I can't be arsed with what the stupid man said. I think TM is a stupid woman with a stupid man in opposition. Those are terms of insult rather than believing either are genuinely "stupid". I can think of worse ways to describe them both too which are far more offensive than "stupid".

This is not a feminist issue. The Conservatives discovering (haha) that they are feminists is hilarious....all the whole lording it over policies which keep women second class citizens. That's a REAL feminist issue and NOT what one idiot man said.

As you were....keep debating it all while ignoring the REAL issues. That's the reason women are second class citizens and remain so.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 20/12/2018 10:30

As you were....keep debating it all while ignoring the REAL issues.

As has been said, I can debate this and REAL issues. This really seems a strange concept to some.

Nightcloud · 20/12/2018 10:30

He lied anout what he said. Ergo he’s just the same as the rest of them. I’ve akways known it but some really can't accept he’s not a friendly wizard character but a career politician. There problem, not mine. Now we need to move on and get back to discussing today’s news

ratchethandler · 20/12/2018 10:44

As you were

Good, first and second class citizens are now free to continue....

BertrandRussell · 20/12/2018 11:03

“He lied anout what he said”

Why are you so sure he lied about what he said?

UpstartCrow · 20/12/2018 11:05

As you were....keep debating it all while ignoring the REAL issues.

Misogyny isn't a real issue? It certainly has real effects in the real world.

ratchethandler · 20/12/2018 11:17

The reason I'm so sure, is that he looks like he said "Stupid Woman".. And he has a history of lying.

BertrandRussell · 20/12/2018 11:20

“The reason I'm so sure, is that he looks like he said "Stupid Woman".. And he has a history of lying.”

Ah yes, another lip reading expert. As I said- you really need to share your skill with the RNID. And a history of lying? He has a history of many things and is a crap leader of both Labour and the Opposition, but I don’t think he has a history of lying.

You don't need to be a qualified lip reader, you do though need the will to deny come what may, to take your position.

I don’t think he has a history of lying.. Indeed? not even - "I never met the IRA"?

“You don't need to be a qualified lip reader, you do though need the will to deny come what may, to take your position.”
Well, qualified lip readers say that it is only possible to be certain about 40% of words by lip reading alone- the rest relies on context. So you must have some special super lipreDibg power to be so sure!

ratchethandler · 20/12/2018 11:39

No, I simply have an opinion and I'm certain I saw him mouth "woman". So not all lip readers agree...You've rather proved my point for me.

Would you care to comment on the other matter of why Jeremy lied about never having met the IRA?

Or why he claimed to have supported the peace process whilst he consistently voted against it in the commons?

13thWarriorWitch · 20/12/2018 11:44

It's Laurel or Yanny all over again.

fwiw, to me he said "woman" but I expect most people are seeing what they expect to see, even those saying they expected the opposite, aren't taking into account the possibility that on a subconscious level they are open to the idea they might be wrong.

But I do think "woman" is more likely in context and Corbyn DOES have form both for misogyny and lying.

ratchethandler · 20/12/2018 12:01

Corbyn DOES have form both for misogyny and lying. Correct.

zippey · 20/12/2018 12:05

He definitely said “stupid people”.

But even if he said stupid woman, is woman a swear word now? She is a woman.

Saying woman is not akin to saying the n word or black or gay. It’s akin to saying man.

She is stupid and she is a woman. I’ve no problem with Corbyn saying this. She is leading this country off a cliff.

I’m in Scotland and what a shame we werent brave enough to split from this shambles of a union a few years ago. Hopefully the SNP can get a second referendum and leave the Union.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 20/12/2018 12:09

This says it all for me:

Jeremy Corbyn just called Theresa May "stupid woman"
PigletWasPoohsFriend · 20/12/2018 12:14

Mistlewoeandwhine oh please. There are Labour MPs who behave badly too. One has been found guilty in court yesterday and is now awaiting sentance.

All is wrong. Very telling you highlight one and nit the other.

Another ex Labour MP now independent resigned the whip whilst under investigation.

I suggest you take your Corbyn rose coloured spectacles off.
