And he did it with the most derogatory angry expression on his face.

I think he said 'people'.

Look, I'm a feller, and do not by any means agree with everything that's posted on this forum. I'm also a labour member and a corbyn supporter. In short, if anyone is liable to have his back, it's me.

He clearly says 'stupid woman' and not 'stupid people' or anything else. This clearly makes him a fucking dick, and I've lost a huge amount of respect for him.

user1467718508 · 19/12/2018 20:35

The pure disdain as he said it. Vile.

Careful if you're looking on Twitter tonight, there's a deluge of men confidently defining misogyny on behalf of women...Hmm

To those suggesting we shouldn't spend time discussing it because we're in the midst of something bigger - dealing with a crisis doesn't mean you HAVE to abandon principles. It might help to hang onto them right now.

Tidy2018 · 19/12/2018 20:43

It's "that's a stupid woman" or "just a stupid woman"

Mistlewoeandwhine · 19/12/2018 20:51

It’s people. And it’s very irritating that the media are focusing on this nonsense when the Tories are leading us into disaster with Brexit, universal credit and the numbers of homeless rising daily. Oh and food banks opening in schools.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 19/12/2018 20:51

I’m female and I have disdain for all the evil, disgusting Tory scum.

MaisyPops · 19/12/2018 20:54

I'd be saying 'stupid woman' if someone spoke to me how she did to him there.
She's in a government propped up by the DUP, HER Brexit secretaries keep resigning, 1/3 of her party don't support her, she's recklessly throwing around No deal whilst accusing anyone who challenges her as being a conspiracy theorist in project fear. The woman is a bloody embarrassment.

I'm not a Tory but always felt a little bit of sympathy that (as ever) a woman gets a top job when it's risky with everything to lose and the men sit back. The more she carries on that tiny bit of sympathy goes.

I'd think nothing of calling Boris Johnson a stupid man for the way he carries on and nothing of Theresa May a stupid woman for how she carries on.

SillySallySingsSongs · 19/12/2018 20:55

It’s people.

No it isn't

I’m female and I have disdain for all the evil, disgusting Tory scum.

How mature. Nothing like grown up adult debate is there?

Stereotyping everyone in one lump is pathetic.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/12/2018 21:07

Well said.

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 19/12/2018 21:10

1/3 of her party don't support her
And how many of Corbyn's own party voted against him a couple of years back? And he refused to resign? Even when his shadow cabinet were walking out in droves?

Helmetbymidnight · 19/12/2018 21:13

I can’t get that animated by the party not in power, when the party in power are such monstrous fuck-wits.

MaisyPops · 19/12/2018 21:16

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess
A couple of years is a long time in politics. Hell, a month is a long time in politics.

The politics of the opposition party a couple of years ago do not take away from the shitstorm engulfing the people who are meant to be governing the country.

longestlurkerever · 19/12/2018 21:16

Before I watched the clip I thought it was bound to be "woman" as "stupid people" would be an odd thing to say, so I was surprised when I watched it that it looks much more like "people" to me.

AngryAttackKittens · 19/12/2018 21:18

Can we stop pretending that Magic Granddad is going to fix everything if only someone can let him know it's happening now? He once showed off his naked girlfriend to his comrades by bringing them home while she was still asleep in bed (Diane Abbot - why she's still talking to him is a mystery to me). He's not doing anything about the misogyny in the party because he thinks it's fine.

Ditto all the other issues he's doing nothing about.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/12/2018 21:24

Most everyone on this thread who’ve said that it’s no big deal in the scheme of things have said that they don’t like corbyn.

But hey that mustn’t get in the way of the fantasy that only fanatic corbynistas/could think that way.

MaisyPops · 19/12/2018 21:27

Helmetbymidnight
I agree.
I'm no corbyn fanclub member but can't see the issue.

Theresa May doesn't get a get out of jail free pass because the leader of the opposition is doing a poor job of opposing.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/12/2018 21:30

Exactly!

DioVelazquez · 19/12/2018 21:38

I think he said 'people'

I agree. His lips close at the beginning of both syllables. Definitely "people".

ChattyLion · 19/12/2018 21:38

Ugh, sexist and useless. The Labour Party under Corbyn is just a vacuous embarrassment.

SkullPointerException · 19/12/2018 21:44

She's in a government propped up by the DUP, HER Brexit secretaries keep resigning, 1/3 of her party don't support her, she's recklessly throwing around No deal whilst accusing anyone who challenges her as being a conspiracy theorist in project fear.

That's all true. So she's kind of a bit crap at her job then?

Boo-fucking-hoo! I'm ex-Labour, so I think she's quite a bit more than just a bit crap at her job. She's atrocious for what she has achieved and cringeworthy when she's not achieving it.

Boo-fucking-hoo, though. Still doesn't grant Jezza a get out of jail free card regarding misogyny.

Ooooooooooh Jeremy Corbyn, indeed!

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 19/12/2018 22:36

His lips don't close at the beginning of the first syllable though. They move forward to make a woo shape.

MaisyPops · 19/12/2018 22:40

SkullPointerException
My question over whether it's misogyny is whether stupid man would be levelled at a man doing a crap job and I think it would.

She is a stupid woman the way she is handing (or not) the current situation. I've called her a lot worse. So has DH. Does that make him a misogynist? Or just a man with an opinion on a PM who is behaving appallingly?

Ooooooooooh Jeremy Corbyn, indeed!
I'm going to assume that's some sort of implied claim that anyone who thinks it's not that big a deal must be in some corbyn fan club. Confused

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 19/12/2018 22:42

I think he said “people”. But actually I don’t care. She’s stupid and she’s a woman. If Rees-Mogg had been fulminating up there, “stupid man” would have been appropriate.

SisterOfDonFrancisco · 19/12/2018 22:48

What is the offending word here? Stupid or woman? Unclear.

onefootinthegrave · 19/12/2018 23:17

I'v not long got home from the West End. My son was at the theatre with his friends and I wandered around the Strand & back streets of Covent Garden waiting for him to come out.

The amount of homeless people has gone up tenfold since even last year, it's a disgrace. I know which party is doing more to tackle that, and yet people are on here ripping apart JC for calling her a stupid woman. What's more of a priority?

There are a lot of us who will refer to someone by saying 'awful woman' what a stupid man' - I'd rather say that than awful bitch, stupid prick' It's nothing to do with misogyny. In fact the more I think of it I think it's a generational thing. My nan never swore but she would say things like 'terrible woman' 'wicked man'.

And again, TM is far more misogynistic than JC is - she demonstrates that in her policies.
